Light Type?

Now with the titles officially revealed it makes me think we will get a light type i know we have similar threads to this but this is specifically about the possibility of a light type.

I personally can think of several existing pokemon who i believe would fit smashingly into this:

Togepi and all of its stages

Clefairy and its stages

Chimecho and its pre ev.

Basically do you think this would be a good idea? What already existing pokemon do you believe to fit into here? What could the future pokemon be like?

Please stick to discussing only the potential for light type

I just reviewed the titles revealed thread and if this quote "Two players. Two sides. One is light, one is dark." was what they actually used and not like a movie reference of anything then we may be welcoming our 18th type... (i still dont quite know where i stand on this subject)

eh i just feel chimecho fits into it it seems to be a happy pokemon
plus its pre-evo has to evolve via happiness right?

i dont want to say all babies or happiness evos should be light type or part light type i just think in that ones case light is better than psychic

Ps: I didnt really want light type either but as long as thats all they add fine

I personally do not think it would be a good idea.i mean there is already 17 types, that's enough. and if they did make it what would it be weak against dark types. it doesn't make sense to me to add a new type now. to me its like changing the rules in the middle of the game.

Granted there are several pokemon that would have a good light form such as eevee. but that's why espeon exists.

I think too many psychic types would fit under this new category of light.

Especially since it feels like it's just an alternative to dark [which is already what I feel about psychic and dark]

oh and @ flaming i know what you mean how it seems kinda cheap but i dont know with these names i have a hard time thinking we wont get one... and if they added light type we would have an even 18 types

Yeah. The game titles do sort of hint at it, but nothing is certain and I'll be quite happy if they don't have a new type.

the way you put it, seems redundant to make a light type. i agree with you. there are so many psychic types falling under this category

See the new types thread I started about this, but the gist is: I'm sick of Psychic being a catchall type for anything they aren't sure how to quantify. I'm also sick of Normal being a catchall for all the many, many sound-based attacks there are. So I'd prefer they split both of those.

To me, light type might have been a thought about idea, but never put into use because it would be way too similar to another type, psychic. I'ts probably going to end up like the bird type, it will probably be in the beta, but never used.

rude, and this is not just another "OMG we need a new type thread" i wanted a light type focus thread those other threads jump around a lot i said specifically light type for a reason to keep it focused and with the game names being what they are i thought it was an appropriate one

Agree with you again. I don't want a light type, and I didn't see it possible, but now the names of the games made me think it could happen. We can have a Light type. But nothing's for sure yet.

I don't understand the negativity about having a Light type. I see absolutely no drawback from that possibility, and it would no doubt help the White version look more lucrative compared to the Black version which will be stereotypically labeled as "cool" as soon as the Dark-type mascot surfaces.

Even though we already have two Normal-type legendaries (one being far more popular than the other), it is hard to imagine a version mascot being one. I would also find it problematic if one of the version mascots were immune to the other's STAB moves, which would be the case if we had another Psychic-type mascot.

Rude? I don't see how pointing something out is rude. And this is another type thread, since it's discussing a new type it's a new thread about a type. That wasn't hard was it? And there are discussions in other type threads that specifically talk about a certain type...I don't see why you're unable to do that there.

Also what is with the 4th evolution? Bliss line doesn't need another evolution unless it's a physical wall or somehow offensive.

I'm not against it and I'm not for it. I'm kinda indifferent. I reserve judgement until I know how this effects the types of pokemon and the type chart.
