Light-Type??

I want to discuss the possibility of a new, eighteenth Pokémon elemental type: the Light-type.

Initially, i had high hopes that Generation V was going to introduce a new type, for two reasons. (1) There are currently two Pokémon, namely Sableye and Spiritomb, that because of their type combination (Dark/Ghost and Ghost/Dark respectively), have absolutely no weaknesses whatsoever, which seems very unbalanced. (2) The names of the new Generation V games, Pokémon White Version and Pokémon Black Version, seemed to hint at a Dark/Light duality. However, after learning that Reshiram is Dragon/Fire and Zekrom is Dragon/Electric, i am now not so certain.

So my question to you is, is there going to be a Light-type and should there be one?

If i were to make a Light-type, i would make it strong against Ghost- and Dark-types, resistant to Dark-types, and resisted by Normal-types.

Also just for fun, do you think there should be a pure Flying-type, and do you think that one will eventually be made? Other predictions?

There is technically one way to make something SE to Sableye and Spiritomb. Use one of the moves that remove Ghost's Normal and Fighting immunity. Then, you can SE the Dark half with a Fighting move. I've had no problems dealing with either of them regardless of if I can't SE them.

As for the Light type itself, I am not going to be the one to open that can of worms. I refuse to reveal what my thoughts are on the matter.

That's fine, but i wasn't part of that discussion. New threads are always going to pop up about old topics. Plus, i'm suggesting the addition of a single type here, a Light-type, rather than a Sonic- or Cosmic-type.
