Okay, am I the only one who thinks Lillie's going to be linked to the villain team in some way? They say she's working for Hala "for her own reasons." She's also stated to be central to the plot in some way. She doesn't have the friendliest expression in her official art, either. I'm not sure if she's another rival figure since she doesn't like battling, though.

A lot of people are theorizing she is part of the evil team, yet people forgo that theory cause we don't have much information for the plot of the game.
Her expression is more of a shy personality, since she seems nervous at first when we meet her in the trailer. Her "Unfriendly" expression is her trying to hide her shy personality with a more tough girl look despite how she looks.

Think of her of Yellow from the Adventure/Special Pokemon Manga, who is a lot more shy than Yellow.

You know, we technically don't actually know that there will be a villain team...

Yellow was a cool character, but I don't see much connection between her and Lillie in terms of personality. Yellow will at least fight. Lillie dislikes it.

And that's actually a big thing people seem to be downplaying. We know very little about Lillie, but we know she's not a battler. That makes it somewhat less likely that she's a Wally style rival or a hidden villain like N.

Lillie's giving me Silver vibes. As in, she could be both our rival and be evil (or, at least, sympathetic to the evil team). Keep in mind that Hau picks the Starter that's weak to yours, so our rival is either the opposite gender PC, Lillie, or someone we haven't seen yet.

That's true. We also don't know if there are any Gyms in Alola.

Silver was neither evil nor sympathetic to Team Rocket. He was mysterious since we knew nothing about his background at first.
Heh, yeah I only played HG once so I don't really know Silver that well. I assumed from what I did remember of him that he was like that. My bad.
My feeling about Lillie still stands, at least until we get more info.

Her being a part of the evil team would be kinda predictable, I would prefer a Zinnia scenario where she does questionable actions because she has a big secret and she doesn't reveals it until the climax.

y do u not use my thread
Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of people who keep important secrets when the fate of the entire worlds hangs in the balance. Poor communication kills

I think I read somewhere that she wasn't particularly fond of battling Pokemon, so I don't really see her being connected to the regional crime syndicate. I wouldn't be surprised if she does end up being connect, but I'll be annoyed at how lame the idea is.

I think Lillie will be tied so the legendary Pokemon somehow, or will be tied to the mega evolution lore of this region.

Lillie's dislike of combat and battling is interesting, and it really propels her away from the traditional rival role like Hau. She may have a role in the story like Shauna in X/Y - you see her regularly through-out the story, but you don't really battle her that much. You only battle Shauna twice. Never battling Lillie would make her an interesting character as most characters you meet that have importance/relevance, you almost always end up fighting at some point. The regional professors were notable for this, but X/Y broke that mold when you battle Sycamore twice.

Of course, this could all be part of Lillie's deception, and she could be quite a capable battler. Her being some kind of enemy spy deceiving Kukui to get information from him is intriguing, but he studies Pokemon moves. Doesn't really seem like anything of overall grand importance for regional conquest/domination. To me, her "reason" to assist Kukui seems more like a personal reason rather than a means to an end, or a goal set for her.

Crack theory time:
I'm going to reach here...by quite a significant amount. Does anyone else remember the Plus/Minus "leaks" from Jan 2014?

In one of the "leaks" it says that the player's best friend, who was "special" and had the power to perform feats like mega evolution without a mega ring. It's later learned that this person was going to be sacrificed to the legendaries in order to awaken them.
What if the enemy team eventually kidnap Lillie in order to use her to achieve their goals? I don't mean they'll want to sacrifice her, or that she has any special ability, but what if she has significance to the team's goals and they eventually discover that she may be of value to them, and the final arc of the game's story is Lillie's kidnapping and you have to go to her rescue, and you'll meet Solgaleo or Lunala at the climax? That'd be pretty great imo.

@Lunafreya ... That has got to be one of the coolest crack theories I've ever heard! I would be quite surprised, but pleased, if GF actually executed that idea, or at least similar to it. Kinda like Iris in Megaman Battle Network 6 or Raven from Teen Titans. I rather like that idea, a totally unsuspecting person becomes a vital link to an evil plot, making it your job to rescue them, ultimately coming to the confrontation of the regional legend. I like that.

Your crack theory does fit into the tribal motif of virgin sacrifices and she is dressed in all white.

Just because she dislikes battles doesn't mean that she won't take part in them under certain circumstances. N despised battling and both Tierno and Sycamore sucked at it, but they all still battled you at points.

CoroCoro said that all three starters and Iwanko all hide a secret. I wonder if this secret is has something to do with whatever hidden agenda Lillie has...

I've been doing some research on Hawaii, and since Alola is based on Hawaii, and Lillie is supposedly mysterious...this is gonna sound like a wild theory: what if Lillie is actually the queen of Alola? Think about it. The last monarch of Hawaii was a queen named Liliuokalani, and that name has the word "lily" in it even though its spelled differently, and Lillie's name is similar to that. Maybe Lillie is either queen or maybe royalty, but is in disguise and hanging out with Kukui, maybe for the purposes of research, getting out into Alola, or maybe even researching the evil team so she can find a way to deal with them, or whatever hidden agenda she has.

...Yeah, this is a stupid theory, I know.

Ooh I actually like this theory! She's dressed pretty fancy so wouldn't be surprised if she's royal. Maybe she ran away from home to learn about Pokémon or so. That would make for quite a fun plot twist imo.
