Ever learn something 'bwuh' worthy about an ancestor in your family? Do you have unique relatives in your family (by blood or by marriage)? Are you in line for an inheritance that would make others go, "woah"?

Eh, can't really think of anything except that one of my dad's cousins had an illegitimate child who is now missing. That and the fact that everyone in my mother's father's family had like seven or more kids.

There's nothing really special about me, but I knew someone cool:

When I was in high school, the girl that was in my library science class with me was related to Lizzie Borden. You know, the one that killed her parents with an axe?

Lizzie Borden took an axe
Gave her mother forty whacks
And just as soon as she was done
she gave her father forty-one

Or something like that. The scary thing was that, seeing this girl's personality, it was totally believable that she was related to Lizzie Borden. o_O

Oh dear.

Well, I know that I'm related to a German officer who tried to assasinate Hitler... But I think that's it.

My ancestors were German and Polish people. So... I guess I oppress myself. o.0

One of my distant cousins is a dwarf and joined the Ringling Bros. Circus years ago. She had a specially sized apartment attached to my great-aunt's house in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

I'm a descendant from a passenger on the mayflower, but I can't think of any relatives worth mentioning post-1620. XP

I know that I'm descended from someone who came over to America sometime around 1620 (give or take a year or two) but not on the Mayflower.

I don't have anything too interesting, really. Although we've discovered a few interesting things in recent years. Like my grandmother (born in Germany) had a twin who was, unfortunately, stillborn (she'd never told us she had a twin). We can trace that side of my family back to the 1400's or so, so that's pretty neat. I know next to nothing about my mom's side of the family, though. They're pretty weird anyway. :/

One of my best friends in elementary school was a descendant of the 11th President of the United States, James Polk.

My future brother-in-law's a radio DJ for a Rock station around NY.

Other than that, I don't know too much about my family.

Nothing much, except my great-grandfather was a police officer (he was Indian) when the British were controlling India. He was to beat up rebellers, but all he did was just tap them on the shoulder and let them go instead of hitting them. This went on for some time, then the Brits finally caught on and fired him. I imagine many people were grateful to him. My relatives still have his uniform.

Unconfirmed: I'm related to Sir Edmund Halley of astronomy fame. SUPPOSEDLY someone traced the family back to him, and we USED to have a copy of a remarkably full geneology chart for my mother's mother's mother's side of the family, but I think it was on a 5" floppy disk, so even if I can find it, it does me no good.

Confirmed: My father's father's father was a founder of a college somewhere in either Virginia or North Carolina and was, apparently, quite wealthy. But the older siblings of my grandfather squandered the money before my grandfather was old enough to inherit anything (his parents had both died, a year apart, when he was very young, and he was the second youngest child). I've also traced several family members to Oklahoma at the time of the Oklahoma Land Run (so they were either here BEFORE the Land Run, or participated in it).

Started doing research, trying to put together a full geneology, and it quickly fizzed out as I hit dead end after dead end.

Actually I'm related to Benedict Arnold. Go me.

And my dad's ancestor apperantly came over on the Mayflower.

On my father's side, I have some connection to Pontefract Castle, though we're not sure if we're descendants of Ilbert de Lacy in an obscure branch of the family, or simply descendants of someone involved in the construction of the castle.

On my mother's side, I'm related by marriage to Ned Kelly. Scott_Goodman is my cousin on that side of the family.

my great grandfather was the President of this town called San Sebastian
that's all I can think of...

but
My high school was the high school that got national attention because some kid from another school got our flag and flipped it over during the walk outs of last year haha
they made it seem like we did, and our principal allowed the whole thing to happen, it was crazy, we had news crews and whatnot
good times :)
