Linking to Hoenn

Hi everyone,

My friend's been keeping some pokémon for me on his Ruby version, but for some reason the link to Leaf Green isn't working properly.

I've finished the sidequest in the Sevii Islands, I'm using an SP, he's using a Advance. But for some reason when the "Please wait" message comes up, the game gets stuck there. It doesn't make much sense to me - the previous Leaf Green game was my brother's savefile, and the original trade went without a hitch. We're using the same equipment too. Am I missing something? Is there something I should have done after I got the Ruby and Sapphire to Cielo?

You can only trade from gameboy to gameboy. The DS doesn't work with that.

Whoops, did I say DS? How embarrassing, but of a slip there. I meant Advance, I'll edit the OP accordingly

Sometimes it just takes too long. Keep trying, the same happened when I tested the GCN/GBA cable. Then it worked perfectly.

It's possible that SPs don't like to try to communicate with older Advance models. Keep trying, and if it still doesn't work, try replacing one of the systems.

I had this problem when trying to get my Ruby version to interact with my friend's Sapphire. Oddly, this problem doesn't occur amongst my own equipment.

Try blowing into the slots, and if all else fails, get a pre-owned one cheap from GameStop.

When I trade Gen III, I trade from the GC's GB Player to Adv SP. Of course, I need to get an Adv of my own since the old SP is really fucked up, but it never had a Link problem in its four-year life.

I have traded between Yellow and Blue with SP and Adv. As I said before, keep trying.
