Having never played the 3rd series before, I now find myself stuck at the 7th gym because I was used to train my monsters using the Vs seeker in R G and D P P. Now all of my monsters are at Lv32 or 33 and I'm out of opponents in Match Call :-(

So now I'm walking in grass areas or caves to grind with little EXP to gain. Where's your favorite spot to grind?

Well, usually the area around where I am. But I spend a lot of time in the desert for some reason...

With the Match Call, you're more likely to find someone wanting to battle you the more often you appear on their route. For example, if you do a lot of breeding you'll find that you can very frequently re-battle trainers along that long straight line in front of the breeding center that you can ride back and forth on.

Probably, but I'm guessing the frequency fails in comparison to using Vs Seeker on your bike in an area full of trainers. When you want to grind +/- 20 monsters for about 8 levels each, Match Call would probably take a month compared to a week with Vs Seeker.

Not really, no. Say you've run back and forth on that line a lot already while hatching eggs. You could just forget looking at the match call altogether and start talking to the trainers along that line, you'll start getting battles. I don't think it's as frequent as the VS Seeker, but it's not too bad if you're on their route a lot.

Alternately you could just spend all your money and then just keep trying at that gym, spending your money each time before you retry. You'd lose some battles but at least you'd be able to train against higher-level opponents and you'd still gain some exp before losing.

Not a bad idea, I barely use my money since I only buy Revive, Max Repel, Super and Hyper Potion.

Thanks

I grind at that HUGE ocean from about Lilycove to Mossdeep to Pacidlog.

I often level-grinded with the Elite Four or Victory Road in Emerald. In FireRed, I VS Seeker the trainers at the far end of Island 7 of the Sevii Islands.

I try to go wherever has Pokemon that are opposite types than the Pokemon I'm trying to train. I go where I think I can gain the most experience. Or if I'm trying to grow berries in a certain spot I'll train around there. :)

I usually just surf around, or, in Emerald, run around the Magma base.

Sky Pillar is probably one place you can grind in Emerald..In R/S its available only post E4

I like to train near towns, so I can heal my Pokemon. I especially like the place with all the fences near Lilycove. Also, searching routes for places you've never been works, but I don't know if you've done that yet.

The e4, victory road. I'll occasionally use Route 120 when training lower level Pokemon.

Victory rd. is the best, but here's anh alternative: it takes a lot of time, but it's constant, and additionally you win loads of money eventually. Ever run into those TV guys who do a double battle? yeah, well, they appear continuously a) east of fortree, b) north of mauville, and c) east of mauville. they shift every time you beat them, but not in that order. as i said, it takes some time, but it's efficient.

Shoal cave(b4 7th gym, that is).
Afterwards, Victory road/Sky Pillar.

1. We know
2. They do shift in that order.

Sky Pillar
The high leveled pokemon there helped my team prepare for the E4 lol
