We are currently trialing an addon which makes topics "auto update" without you needing to refresh. This works by refreshing only the minimum information required, rather than refreshing the entire thread. That should help to reduce some of the load caused by larger discussion and game threads which can often receive many posts in quick succession.

Let us know how it's working for you, so we can continue tweaking it. I've trialed it in the past on the test forum, but this is really something that we need live testing for to see if it'll be suitable for us.

Noticed this about a minute ago, and have immediately gotten ridiculous amounts of lag while loading threads, and looking at a section index, not to mention the ugly sign next to the thread names.

I've just disabled that sign. First thing I did after I tried it on the test forum, knew people here would find it as ugly as I did. ^^;;;

Where are you getting the lag? Any particular forum? Are you noticing any difference if you switch to one of the skins without snow? (just making sure that's not the cause of your lag).

I wouldn't have minded the signs if they were a small, tiny thing next to the topic names, but they were pretty big.

I've only been in the Pokémon World forum since this was put in a few minutes ago, and it still lags there for me. Less so now that the big signs have been disabled, but it's still noticeable. The only skin I use is the default vBulbagarden one, and it wasn't lagging earlier.

Honestly, I thought the signs were redundant anyway. The addon includes that for forums which enable that in only specific threads or sections, whereas we've enabled it everywhere.

Is the lag happening in any particular thread? If you're lagging in the actual forum display, it's not from this addon.

Most of the threads I looked at seemed affected by it soon after it happened, but it looks like it's better now. Ah well, sorry for mentioning it. ._.

I have no lag to report, gald that ugly button is gone:) Good work Archaic!

I've seen something like this this on Zelda Universe Forums. I like the change.

Yeah I have seen it on the ZUForums as well:) I agree that it is a good new feature to the forums. I dont have to refresh anymore to see new posts! *LazyFace*

I just got a white screen with nothing but this text, and I suspect it has to do with this add-on:

Fatal error: Class 'USERTAG' not found in /home/themozz/public_html/bmgf/dbtech/usertag/hooks/showthread_complete.php on line 10

I posted something and lag caused it to double post. Meanwhile like three new posts appeared, and then when I tried to delete the double post, this appeared.

This add-on is amazing, makes tons of threads much easier to use. I hope we keep this for a long long time. Also, does the thread refresh every 5 seconds since you viewed the thread or is it set on an interval clock?

Ah, I ask that because I wanted to know if it updated for everyone at the same time. Also, can this add-on be applied to notifications, because if so that would be very, very awesome.

Nope, that's something to do with a totally different addon. I'm in the process of updating a bunch of our other addons in prep for updating the live forums later this month. ;)

Ah ok.

But while I'm here anyway, I did notice the add-on does not realise when a new page is supposed to start. So it will just continue to put posts on the page you're on, untill you manually refresh the page, in which case posts will go to new pages if neccesary.

It's probably unfixable and not much of a deal, but I still felt like mentioning it.

So wait. Now we don't have to refresh for the new messages?

I like the concept, but the problem I'm having is that if I want to go back and re-read some of the earlier posts in a thread I've already read, I can't because the thread will automatically refresh to the last post I read.
