Now I'm not an Angels fan, never knew the guy since he was a rookie after all, but it pains me to see this. He was 22 years old, but it feels like he's around my age. And by reading up on the guy he looks so calm and thoughtful. It's horrible that after his first win at a major league game ended with this tragedy. All his hopes and dreams gone, and by what? A drunk driver, who FLED the scene. Wow. Talk about being an asshole. Thoughts and condolences to the families who are shocked by this. R.I.P. to Adenhart and the driver, Courtney Frances, who was from the college I assumed they went to. There there three people in the car and the latest news I heard was that the third passenger did receive minor injuries but is okay.\

It's focked up how it seems like whenever a drunk acts like a focktard and gets behind the wheel and crashes the drunk driver ALWAYS survives and kills innocent people!!! :saiyan:

This guy was a great MLB prospect, and it is a cryin shame that his life was cut so short by some idiot. And to leave the scene after u do this! CHRIST!

There are thousands and thousands of instances like this every day too, and since the victims aren't MLB players they don't always get the publicity.

But the point is, driving drunk is wrong period! I think the media needs to do a better job of condemning this sort of behavior all around, not just if someone famous dies as the result. It's a shame that the victim has to be a pro baseball player for such outrage to ensue. When Joe Schmo from nowhere dies from a drunk driver we never hear about it on the national news.

IDIOTS, IF YOU'RE GONNA DRINK GET A FUCKING CAB!!!

This is a real shame. The kid had his whole life ahead of him. He wasn't even as old as I am.

That drink-driving douchebag had better be ashamed of himself for what he's done. Not only did he needlessly rob two innocent people of their lives, but he took away the entire career of someone who had a far brighter future than Gallo could ever come close to achieving.

I'm a really big Angels fan, so this is really saddening. I watched the game last night, and to think that he's gone now, it's really depressing. The commentators were talking about how ways his pitching could improve in the future. I'm glad they caught the guy that did this.

This was a huge shock this morning to me. I'm not an Angels fan, but Adenhart grew up in the Maryland area, so it does hit close to home. It is a shame that such a young guy, having shown so much potential in the game that night, is gone only a few hours later.

What pains me most is the offender has had a past history of drinking. His misjudgment led to the deaths of three people at that intersection and all he did was run. He needs to spend the rest of his time behind bars, thinking about what he did.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the Angels organization.

I didn't hear about this until this afternoon. I was at the Red Sox game today, and they had a moment of silence for him before the national anthem, which I thought was nice. I just think it's so tragic because Adenhart was supposedly one of the best young pitching prospects in baseball and he had a great career and life ahead of him.

Kinda fucked up that the driver has had problems with the law before and they didn't do anything to that person in past. There's also people at the Angel Stadium today morning over the death of him. r.i.p Adenhart

I heard about this earlier and its really horrible! (and this is coming from a big A's fan)

And I'm speechless at the same time, as much as I hate Drunk Drivers, I just don't see anything ever improving. I am not to be supportive of Alcohol at all, but something needs to be done and prohibition isn't an option that will help. I also think all the punishment in the world isn't going to stop drunk driving either, I just think it's going to make things worse because there always a mentality in the moment that changes.

I mean, the logic is broken, you tell people to make decisions when they are physically not able to, that's really frustrating. Punishing people for being drunk in public is also only going to make things worse, putting people into a hole where they won't know what to do. Then as long as there is alcohol people will get drunk. It's a real frustrating issue because as much as the mouthing people make to want to not have things like Drunk Driving, or other crimes with alcohol involved, they aren't truly looking to fix anything.

Drunk driving is utterly inexcusable, as is running away after causing a crash.

On TV, they did a very nice thing for Nick, they replied the six innings that he played in his final game last night. The Angels also wore a patch with his jersey over their hearts.
Rest in Peace.

they did? i thought they postponed their game. either way, its crazy and sad that eariler that night he pitched six scoreless innings in an Angels win and hours later he was gone.

fuck drunk drivers!

I really think that there should be more severe penalties levied on drunk driving.

It sucks to see any young aspiring sports player die so young. :-(

I heard about this on the news. Wow sad. I mean this guy finally made it to the pros and I think he pitched well in his first game and then its all over just like that because some idiot decided he HAD to drive after he got drunk.

It's amazing how quickly it can all come to an end.

The guy has a bail set at $2 million. He was driving on a suspended license, and he's been caught before, twice I think, currently on probation. So he has quite the criminal record.

Very sad when anyone passes in this manner, much less someone so young and with so promising a career.

Bail jumps to $2 million for man charged in Lose Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart's death said:

Gallo was charged with three counts of murder as well as felony drunken driving and fleeing the scene of a traffic accident causing death or injury, among other counts. If convicted of all counts, he could face nearly 55 years to life in prison.

I hope the book is thrown at this guy. Three counts of murder sound like three life sentences to me, much rather than one. California laws seem lenient in this respect. But hey, I'm an 'eye-for-an-eye' type of guy.

Family of accused murderer are empathetically defending their son's case.

Poor defense shown here. There's no way the guy will get a lesser sentence.

This tradegy is horrible for the family believe me I had a uncle who died of a car wreck and the other cars driver was a drunk driver and it was a shame becaused it looked like this kid would have been a great pitcher.
