Hello Everynyan! Welcome to the eighteenth instalment in the Lost Tower Forum's new weekly series of polls!

Centered around the Pokemon series of video games, these polls will be based on the various different aspects of the popular video game franchise. Every Monday, a Video Games staff member will post a new poll that'll remained stickied up on top of the forum. Suggestions for polls and questions can be sent to Joshawott, and they could possibly used for new polls (credit will be given, of course).

With that out of the way, here is the poll: Pokémon Contests - Yay or Nay?. Contests were introduced in Ruby and Sapphire and were a mainstay in the series until Platinum. What are your thoughts on contests? Did you do them, love them, or just didn't bother?

I loved the contests!! I loved the idea of using pokemon for other reasons that are NOT battling. However... If only they didn't demand such high quality sheens... XDD

It was a new concept, and for the most part, was enjoy able.

I LOVED the R/S/E contests and I enjoyed them very much. DPPt ruined them, imo. :/

I didn't like them, but I didn't really dislike them, although I hardly ever enter them. There are just better things to do with your time in the games they were in.

I don't do them much, but it is a nice alternative to battles, so I said yes.

I did the contests primarily because when I was a little nine-year-old boy, I was pretty curious... I had enjoyed the battling aspect of the games, and, after catching my first twenty or so Feebas (you see, I was so excited after I caught my first one that I decided to catch more and more for the fear of the supply of the virtually useless fish (in their initial form) would eventually deplete), I decided to look up how you evolved them. After conducting very thorough research, I became a master at the art of creating Pokéblocks... actually, I'm lying. But eventually I did evolve one into a Milotic, and I decided to give the contests a shot. And, what would you know, I loved them! I can't say that my feelings stayed the same after DPPt, however; I found those contests a little too silly for my tastes. If there ever are RSE remakes - a possibility which I don't doubt - I really hope that they bring them back in their pre-DPPt incarnation.

I only did them on Diamond and Pearl. I liked the idea of them and was happy to do the visual stuff and the battle side of things. But I couldn't stand the dancing one.

I didn't mind them, but they weren't an important part of the games for me. I generally just played them to get a star on my trainer card, but I found them more interesting than the athletic contests in HG/SS.

They are a nice change of pace since instead of focusing on using moves for battle purposes, you have to focus on the visual side of it, which at times renders perfectly good battlers useless in contests. I really enjoyed them in Hoenn but Sinnoh sorta messed it up with the dancing portion. I understand adding the dress up portion since it can be kinda interesting to see what you manage to do when forced to panic, but the dancing just seemed...........out there.

I liked contests a lot in RSE, but in DPPt the contests weren't as exciting and I did less of them. I was really good at the original contests and had some odd choices for the Contests. Aron, Barboach, Feebas, and Swampert won the majority of Master Contests. I didn't fare very well in the Gen. IV version of contests due to the non-battle portions that I wasn't good at.

I Loved the Alternate Victory style of the contests, and how you could train pokemon that didn't fit the category to win(for instance, I won the CUTE contest with Dusknoir). I also loved the collectability of the ribbons.
G5 wrecked it with the Musicals that didn't even make it very clear if you won(if you CAN win), also getting rid of most ribbons was not very good.
though at least the pokemon transferred from DPPT still had them.

I loved them in Diamond and Platinum! I would spend so much time planting the best berries, learning what each theme meant for Dress Up, and getting a Pokemon with good moves so that I'd have the best chance at winning every part. They were awesome, I had a Pokemon for each one.

Hoenn's were okay, but they were so lame compared to Sinnoh's. No dress up, no emphasis put on them, and it was impossible for me to figure out what the effects the moves had on my performance. I never got the hang of them and vastly prefer Sinnoh contests.
