Hello Everynyan! Welcome to the twenty-first instalment in the Lost Tower Forum's new weekly series of polls! (20 Already?!)

Centered around the Pokemon series of video games, these polls will be based on the various different aspects of the popular video game franchise. Every Monday, a Video Games staff member will post a new poll that'll remained stickied up on top of the forum. Suggestions for polls and questions can be sent to Joshawott, and they could possibly used for new polls (credit will be given, of course).

With that out of the way, here is the poll: Do you like remakes? Both the original Red/Green and Gold/Silver have received remakes over the years; while some new features are added, there are those that argue that some of the fundamental problems still remain. While there are those who like trips down nostalgia-lane, there are those who would prefer original material. Where do you stand with remakes? This poll was partially suggested by CommandurrClowncrete.

Past Polls of the Week

1) Were the original 151 the best?
2) Most beneficial new generation?
3) Best Kanto Starter?
4) Should we go back to coloured cartridges?
5) First Pokémon game?
6) Best Johto Starter?
7) How old were you when you started playing?
8) Do you still play the older generations?
9) Best Hoenn Starter?
10) Slot Machines or Voltorb Flip?
11) Favourite Kanto Gym Design?
12) Favourite Sinnoh Starter?
13) Most beneficial third version?
14) First handheld console?
15) Do you want your Pokémon to follow you again?
16) Favourite Hoenn Gym Design?
17) Favourite Apricorn Ball?
18) Pokémon Contests - Yay or Nay?
19) Did you use the Wi-Fi Plaza?
20) Favourite Kanto Gym Leader?

Thank you for voting!

I'm mixed on this - FRLG and HGSS were both great, but I think it should stop there. I loved them both because I found RBGY to be absolutely horrible and FRLG was a vast improvement, and HGSS were my absolute favorite games of all. However, I'd rather see some new material rather than Gamefreak being stuck in a cycle of continuous remakes.

While I do love the remakes, I wish they had more to the content. The Sevii Islands in FRLG was a good addition, but HGSS needed more than just the Pokethalon and the Safari Zone. Of course, being able to catch previous gen legendaries were good - but I wish we were able to battle Steven instead of go around catching the Lati or receive pokemon from him. More side-quests with good rewards would be awesome.

yep, I loveeedd them. hg/ss tops the list of my favorite pokemon games ever. Remakes give those awesome games of the past modern graphics and colors.

Yes. Remakes are good way for an old game to keep up with the newer ones.

I'd prefer more orginal material, like more spinoffs. Gamefreak already rehashes their games with the third versions and in my opinion that's enough.

I pretty much liked the remakes, especially HG/SS - the graphics were stunning and it was a great way to get the older fans to play new Pokémon. :D

The remakes are awesome. Seriously, the R/S remakes are probably going to be my favorite games ever.

I love the remakes. As much as I still love the older games, I often wish they had the Pokemon, features and battle mechanics of later generations if I replay them, and remakes are just the answer.

I love them.

Absolutely.

Upgraded technology and additions to later games/Gens being implemented in creative ways and adding new content to the regions for players to experience.

I loved them, I was able finally complete Johto (the battery running out stopped me) and FRLG was more fun to me then R/B/G
I do hope that more new content is made though.

Remakes are great! Especially if you can't find an older version of a game.

I always love the remakes, as it's nice to replay through all the old memories with modern features. I think my favourite remake would be HG/SS.

They are great even though I didn't play the old games much from what I did play the remakes are great

The only reason I don't like them is because now everybody expects a remake for every single generation.

I think the remakes are great since they let us play the games we might be unable to actually play anymore and add more to them. The new additions add more story at times, and other times it makes it easier for certain pokémon to be captured for the pokédex(despite me never coming close to completing it). I personally think that the remakes should be timed carefully though, only coming out when the game they're remaking is no longer playable without using roms or going far out of your way like with R/B/G/Y and G/S/C.

Yes I love them. I like seeing the old regions in better graphics and playing them with current generation features, being able to catch previous generation legendary Pokémon and in the remakes made so far being able to evolve Pokémon which existed in first games but have evolutions which did not exist like I've used Bellossom in Leaf Green and Magmortar in Soul Silver.

WEll I didn't really get much chance with FR/LG because I started the game and was playing it and some kid erased my game which got me so pissed. Now I want to play it but can't find it :( HG/SS might be my favorite games right now way better than diamond and pearl in my opinion. I really like it and haver the most game play hours on that game. THe updates and everything came out really nice. I also love how after getting all 16 badges and beating the elite 4 you can get the game boy sounds. that weasa a very unique feature I thought but I love it and turn it on all the time. I am happy with the routes that were added as well as the safari zone since there wasn't one in the original gen 2. This safari zone has got to be the best idea yet though so what if it takes a while for the item to actually attract more pokemon. These games I feel offered the greatest variaty of pokemon to be able to obtain without trading which is something I really like and I think other people did to because the fact of being able to own so many different pokemon just is so awesome

There should have been a "middle of the road" answer to this question.

But anyway: I like remakes, but I also like playing the original games.
But, overall, I do think the remakes are better than the original games.
