Reshuffling the Kanto Map (helping to unstick writer's block for Lightning Yellow)

In the process of reworking the map of Kanto to better reflect the games' progression, I have now run into an issue--where to put "Bye Bye, Butterfree".

--should I keep it in its original location, and have Ash release Wings (what I have chosen to name his Butterfree) later?
--or should I move it to my current expanded "road to Pokemon Tower" arc, and have him release Wings during this arc, as I currently have it planned??
--If I do keep Wings' release around Saffron City, what are some ideas for the Trio to do on the way to Pokemon Tower?

This was my initial plan, but once I read the Bulbapedia synopsis of the real episode for research, I wondered what it would look like if I kept the release where it was, but moved Saffron to when you'd be visiting it in the games--so this way, Ash has more time with Wings

About Masters of the Dragon and Phoenix (inspired by the Lunar remaster)

In a fantastic Pokeworld that will eventually become the region of Paldea, heroes and experts of any sort are known as masters--and the most revered of any masters are the dragonmasters and the phoenix masters--those who have bonded with the rainbow of dragons and phoenixes that roam the world.

But when a Red Phoenixmaster named Ash and a Blue Dragonmaster named Misty find themselves as unlikely partners on a journey to fulfill a sacred prophecy, the two of them come to learn of the sacred bond between dragon and phoenix--and both creatures' sacred bond with the Raikou in the form of Brock--a songmaster with the gift of singing magic like a song.

What wonders and terrors await these unlikely companions on their journey across the world? Can they learn to master the powers of all the dragons and phoenixes, and allow Brock to sing the sacred song that will save them all?

Answers and More Questions (reflecting on the new Legends: Z/A information today)

--So now we know that the game is confirmed to take place after XY (exactly how long after is not said)
--Who is Team MZ fighting against? Is it the Rust Syndicate as the new trailers suggest, or something/someone else?
--Since this is confirmed to take place after XY, will we find out if Lysandre actually died at the end of XY, or if he somehow survived?
--The climatic battle will probably involve a Rogue Mega vs. Mega fight
--How many battles must you win to rank up in the ZA Challenge? Is it a fixed number, or does it increase as you rise up the ranks?
--Since we know Mable went on to become a professor, what happened to the other four Flare admins?

Demonstrating the Plush-o-Tron (showing off some drabble)


"...presenting my newest invention, the Plush-o-Tron!" Clemont announced as he unveiled an odd Poke Ball inspired machine with a funnel-like top. "Just drop in some yarn, select the pattern of the Pokemon plushie you want to make, and presto! A new plushie is yours in minutes!"

Serena, Harmonie, and Ash raised eyebrows at the odd machine. "How do we know it won't explode?"

"Observe..." Clemont explained as Bonnie carefully put in some yellow, red, and brown yarn in the machine. "The yarn goes into the funnel at the top. Once you have loaded in your yarn, confirm what plushie you wish to make on the touch screen above the Poke Ball's center. For the purposes of this demo, we will make a Pikachu."

He beamed when he saw "READY" on the touch screen. "Once you have picked your plushie, press START, and the Plush-o-tron will go to work making your new companion."

With that, he pressed a green button near the top of the machine, making some soft hums, clicks, and whirs fill the room.

After a few tense minutes, the machine beeped cheerfully, displaying "PLUSHIE COMPLETE" on its touch screen. The center of the Poke Ball opened, revealing a Pikachu plushie inside.

Ash gently removed the plushie from the machine. It looks well made...and it looks like how a Pikachu should look...

"Cool!" Harmonie gasped, enamored at the beautiful Pikachu Ash was examining.

"Best of all, the plushies can easily hold up to a washer and dryer, so you need not worry about them getting damaged if you need to wash them." Clemont assured the group.

"Can I make one?" Serena asked. "I wanna make a Fennekin doll..."

"Okay, that requires yellow, red, white, and a little black." Bonnie replied as she laid out the yarn colors Serena needed...

The Phoenix, Dragon, and Raikou Take the Stage (drabble of my J-pop Poke-demon hunters idea)

Inside Saffron City's Golden Dome, a rainbow of red, blue, and green lightsticks lit up the dark stadium, the chants of "Houryutora! Houryutora!" making it very clear that the warm up band had left the building.

Backstage, Ash, Misty, and Brock--now in their glittering stage costumes, glanced over at the list of songs for their first set. "'Satisfaction''s up first, so who wants to start it?"

It had become a tradition of the newly debuted trio for a different person to start the song when they performed it. "Rock-paper-scissors!" Misty suggested.

"Okay...one...two...three!" Brock called before looking to see who had won, only to discover the three of them had all displayed rock. "It's a tie, so let's go again..."

"One, two, three!" Misty called. She looked again to discover that she and Brock had displayed paper, but Ash had displayed scissors. "Ash starts it this time!"

"Good luck tonight, you three." Kitsune, nee Kaori, smiled as the trio made their way out to the stage. "I'll have towels and drinks for you at intermission."

Ash nodded back as he led the way down the hallway leading to the stage. After receiving a protective headset with a mic from the stage crew, he led Misty and Brock onto the darkened stage. Let's do this!

With that, he kicked off the fan favorite cover. Get out on the floor! It's time to move your feet!
Let the rhythm move you, wave your hands in the air!

So let us all forget our troubles and our cares! Misty and Brock joined in.
And let the music play, play it all night long...

The Remix of One (some preliminary brainstorming for how I would remix movie 2)

--Tracey is gone--Brock gets to go on the remixed version of the adventure.

--Team Rocket is gone, except for a very specific gag that I felt was too funny not to cut (their movie specific motto, and Ash's response of "I'll have to catch this on video!")

--Brock is the one that tells the prophecy to Ash and Misty before we see Lawrence III catch Moltres.

--Taran (my imagined dad for Ash) is with Delia and Prof. Oak in the Pallet Town scene.

--Melody is a little nicer to the gang at first--Misty is not confused for a girlfriend/sister. Brock DOES, however, attempt to sing to her.

--Misty is a little more excited to be going on the quest for the orbs. At this stage, Ash thinks he's taking part in a real life Zelda game.

--Since Brock is on the quest in the remixed version, Prof. Ivy is swapped for Bill

--Misty unknowingly uses the Swanna Song again near the end in an attempt to revive Ash, even though she doesn't officially learn to sing it until many episodes later.

--Delia and Taran are actually thankful Ash saved the world. Brock of course, composed a song about the whole thing. (the ending song of the movie)

Pokemon "Bananza" Idea (reworking an older idea now that we know Legends Z/A is in a modern timeline)

Glittering Cave--most visitors to Kalos breeze through its corridors without so much as a second thought. Besides, Team Flare was defeated three years ago...right?

So when Ash, while leading Misty and Brock on a long awaited trip through Kalos, and Serena, returning to Kalos for nostalgia's sake, discover that Glittering Cave goes much deeper than previously thought--it ends up going to an entirely new world with many different layers, and even skies, suns, and moons.

They also discover Harmonie, nee Moni, who, like Brock, has a power in her song. They begin finding evidence that Team Flare has returned--and they want Moni for some nefarious purpose!

But it is only when Ash picks up a ruby to rescue Serena from some Flare grunts, does he discover what Moni's song can do--awaken the power of the phoenix inside the ruby!

They quickly discover that sapphires awaken the dragon, emeralds awaken the Raikou, and diamonds awaken the Delphox.

Armed with these new Jewelsong powers, can the Trio and Serena figure out what has spurred Team Flare to return? Can they also find out if Lysandre in fact survived the incident three years ago?

What an Irish Gaelic dub of Pokemon Could Have Looked Like, part 1 (a thought experiment)

Some recon on Bulbapedia reveals that although Pokemon did (and does) air in Ireland, a post over on PokeCommunity got me thinking--what would an Irish Gaelic dub of the show have looked like if such a thing was real?

For translation purposes, I am relying on translators, dictionaries, name databases, and what little Irish Gaelic knowledge I have, so if I get anything wrong, let me know and I will fix it.

In this imagined Irish Gaelic dub, the rallying call (and first episode name) of "Pokemon, I choose you!" would be translated as "Pokemon, téim i dtreo thú!"

Pikachu would still be Pikachu, and the Pokemon would keep their English names, but the humans would get Irish Gaelic names that honor the Japanese name meanings:

Ash would be named Sean (both his Japanese name and this mean "wisdom")
Misty would be named Muirin (this name means "born of the sea")
Brock would be named Liam (Takeshi implies nobility and strength, and Liam can mean "protector")

Team Rocket as a whole would be Foireann Roicéad (literally "rocket team")

James would be named Forgall
Jessie would be named Emer (both of these names refer to characters in Irish mythology that were said to be cunning--which Jessie and James are)
Meowth would still keep his English name

--Items either keep their English names, or are translated, depending on the item. Poke Balls would keep their name.

--Delia would be named Aine (the goddess of the sun and moon in Irish myth, which is a nod to her English name evoking the moon)

--Gary would be named Gearard Dair (this is an Irish spelling of his English name)

--Prof. Oak would be named Fáidh Dair (literally Sage Oak)

--"Poke Ball, go!" would simply be "Poke Ball, téigh!"

Preliminary PMD Story to Account for Gens 7, 8, and 9 (some initial thoughts)

The human character is Maya, who gets turned into a Sprigatito. Lita the Wonder Chu is her partner

I know I want Eternatus to be the final boss, and the dungeons (if I even have dungeons at all)--will be more Zelda-esque instead of mazes of empty rooms.

Not sure what the plot will be just yet, but there will be music involved somehow.

The home base is Helio Town, with a counterpart of Selene City (both of which are safe zones)

Maya chose to come to the Pokeworld of her own free will, not because destiny said so,

The story will be set on a jewel themed continent.

PMD: Wanderers of Darkness and Light (working title for my PMD idea)

When human Maya made a wish to go on an adventure, she didn't expect to be turned into a Pokemon and sent to a different Pokemon world! While initially confused to her new form and new location, once she befriended the kind Pikachu Lita, she was welcomed with open arms by the residents of Helio Town.

But in her quest to learn more about the Pokeworld where she ended up, Maya unearthed an old legend that said this world was almost destroyed--until "a hero from another world" sealed the dragon Pokemon Eternatus.

Curious to know more about the legend, Maya, Lita, and few other friends decide to embark on a journey to the great library in Selene City to learn more. Little does Maya know, she will get her wish of an adventure--and so much more!

Officer Jenny would be named Oifigeach Fionnin (Fionnin is an Irish counterpart to Jenny)

Nurse Joy would be Banaltra Seoighe (an Irishized version of her English title--"Seoighe" is the Irish counterpart of Joy as a name)

The main places in Kanto would get Irish names reflecting their colored origins:

Pallet Town--Baile Bán (White Town)

Viridian City-- Cathair Ghlasa (Green City)

Pewter City--Cathair Airgid (Silver City)

One possible translation of the iconic Rocket motto into Irish Gaelic:

"Chun an domhan a chosaint ó scrios..." ("To protect the world from destruction...")

"Agus gach pobal laistigh dár náisiún a aontú..." ("And unite all peoples within our nation...")

"Chun olc na fírinne agus an ghrá a cháineadh!" ("To denounce the evil of truth and love!")

"Chun ár n-ais a shíneadh go dtí na réaltaí thuas!" ("To extend our reach to the stars above!")

"Emer!" (Jessie!)

"Forgall!" (James!)

"Foireann Rocket! Tús le luas an tsolais!" ("Team Rocket! Blast off at light speed!")

"Gabh ar ais anois, nó ullmhaigh le troid!" ("Give up now, or prepare to fight!")

"Meowth! Sin ceart! ("Meowth! Dat's right!")

Legends: Z/A and the Remixed Animeverse (looking ahead for some ideas)

I know I want Harmonie (nee Moni) to have some role in my remixed animeverse (and possibly the theaterverse, but this will be affected based on how the story of Z/A plays out. Whether or not any of the Z/A allies also appear depends on Z/A's story too.

If Moni does join the team, the Elite Eight won't grow to a Nifty Nine per se--she may mainly serve as an ally/support to the main eight. But again, this depends on how Z/A's story plays out.

Why Stop at Just Lumiose? (expanding on Kalos now that Z/A is here)

Now that we are back in Poke-France, I have to wonder: while it's fun to run around Lumiose, why stop there?

Some ideas I have to expand on a post-Team Flare Kalos with some elements of Z/A:

--Harmonie/Moni would be involved no matter what plotline I go with. This Kalos would include a LOT more of real France.

Some possible ideas:

--Theater troupe tour
--Magic act tour (Ash and Serena would be the performers--the others pitch in behind the scenes)
--The seeds of "J-Pop Demon Hunters" being planted as Ash, Misty, and Brock, as Houryutora, tour Kalos on their rise to fame.

Team MZ would have a role in this idea:

--Naveen would design all of Ash's, Misty's, and Brock's stage coords
--Urbaine (since I chose the girl) would be the PR person, filming dance practices, and impromptu performances, as well as vlogging the whole experience
--Lida would be one of the Trio's backup dancers

A "Warp Evolution" Idea (a thought experiment)

We know Raichu gets dual Mega evolutions in the Z/A DLC, one for each forme. But what if Ash was able to temporarily "warp evolve" Tintri to Mega Raichu X if he or an ally is in grave danger, or an emergency?

Some rules as to how this could work:

--Ash can only "warp evolve" Tintri he, or an ally, is in dire straits, there is another, dire emergency, or as a desperation move.
--Tintri could only remain "warp evolved" for one battle. He would return to Pikachu form when the Mega Power wears off.
--Tintri would have to recover for a little while before "warp evolving" again

"Ash, do something!" Misty called as the rogue Mega Slowbro stomped towards a dazed Moni.

"If you don't hurry, Moni's going to be a Moni-cake!" Brock agreed.

Ash gave an assuring smile to his companions and Moni. I already have an idea...

Just as the Mega Slowbro raised its foot to squish Moni flat, he sang Jao wiisha nes chiel com yutuul...

Both Misty and Brock watched in amazement as Tintri appeared to evolve into Raichu in the flash of red lights and red thunderbolts, then transformed again into a Raichu with long tapered ears and twin tails! "Did you just...induce your Pikachu?" Moni gasped. "When you didn't even evolve him into Raichu at all?"

"Perhaps Ash's and Tintri's bond is so close, the strength of Ash's heart caused what I'm going to call a warp evolution." Naveen explained. "This is just a temporary evolution to Raichu, though--when this battle's over, he'll return to being a Pikachu again."

"However he did it, Ash saved my life." Moni smiled as she weakly stood up, and shepherded her Chesnaught by her side. "Merci... she smiled as she hugged Ash.

"Aw, it was nothin'!" Ash smiled as he looked over at his temporary Mega Raichu X staring down the Mega Slowbro. "Now, let's calm this Mega Slowbro before it damages the city!"
