Rumor has it that Lucario's popularity is absolutely huge, and has been ever since the Lucario movie. Which is understandable, considering the "wounded tragic hero" theme that Lucario had throughout the movies, his rather sleek design, and the fact that he seems designed as a sort of spiritual warrior. It's even quite good in in the games. All of these themes together would equal a large, rabid fanbase and a desire to see it in the main anime as opposed to a movie (Though, granted, no movie was that good since the first three movies).

That being said, what are the chances of Riolu/Lucario appearing as a main caster? Ash hasn't had a real decent Fighting type since Heracross, and seeing as how Pokemon seems to be taking a slightly different approach in DP, a Pokemon like Lucario would be more than welcome as a main cast Pokemon.

I am so damn tired about hearing about Riolu and Lucario for Ash, I'm about ready to jump off a cliff and damn Sir Aaron to hell, I really really am.

With that out of the way, who knows what will happen? Mewtwo has a large fanbase, but it ain't getting caught by Ash never. I just think that since Lucario was a lead Pokemon in a movie, it's has the exception of being caught. But the Riolu Egg is kind of interesting. If Ash gets it, he gets it, and I would be happy to watch it kick some ass as Lucario. And if he doesn't get it, there's the possibility that something else would join Ash. Maybe Snover or Propobass...yes we're serious.

Mewtwo is, all things considered, a Legendary Pokemon. Lucario is not. That's a very, very big difference in determining whether or not Ash gets one.

I can see it happening, although I'd prefer it be something else. Lucario is old news now, it was just one of those pre-D/P Pokemon like Munchlax, Bonsly, Weevile and Mime Jr, the bulk of which have waned in popularity since D/P have released.

I wouldn't complain if he did catch one, but I'm not exactly hoping for it.

That Lucario was too old fashioned, literally. I must admit, after watching the movie today on CN, if he became a main character, I would be over it immediately.

And plus, it wouldn't happen because Lucario is finally with his master, sooooo.

It wouldn't need to be the same one. The movie Lucario was old fasioned, but why mess with old fashioned? At any rate, people liked it because of the anti/tragic hero thing, which never seems to get old. There hasn't been a Pokemon anti hero since Mewtwo, and Lucario comes damn close.

If Ash were to get a Lucario, it will have one of two possible personalities: A rehash of the eternal loner/quiet combativeness (Early Bulbasaur, Sceptile) or a playfully serious attitude, the latter especially if it is female.

I've never seen/understood what the big deal about Lucario is.

It has armor, looks cool, he's blue and black, used a cool Kamehameha/Rasengan type move, and fought in a war. A 10 year old's dream Pokemon. Now connect those bold words, and you have Lucario's appeal.

I'm wondering if Aura's going to get brought up again. Maybe Maylene and or Reily knows it? Might be fun if Ash could learn at least the basics of Aura.

I would love it if Lucario became a main cast Pokemon. I loved how Ash became close to the Lucario in the movie and it would be great to have him get a Riolu. In fact, Lucario and Riolu are two of my most favorite Pokemon from the Diamond and Pearl set. Of course, even though I would love to see it happen, I can understand why people would get annoyed with others constantly mentioning it. I would believe that if this does happen, the Lucario would be different from the movie, obviously. The writers might start off with a Riolu to make it more different from the movie Lucario. But if that doesn't happen, or Riolu goes to someone besides Ash in the main cast, I would be okay with that. As long as both Riolu and Lucario make great appearances in the series at some point, then I'll be happy.

I hope that if Ash gets one, that it would be caught/given to him as Riolu.

It might happen, I remember that lots of people liked Charizard & Seceptile, and Ash got those.

It wouldn't need to be the same one.

I know that, but it'd be funny and cool if it was.

In some ways though I kinda hope no one catches it cause seeing people over at the serebii forums going to far when arging over who should get it(between Ash and Dawn) when it might not even be caught is a bit rediculious.

Maylene has a Lucario, correct? Let's see how Ash reacts to it in the anime first.

I still don't see the appeal.

It's appeal for the kids. If you were 10, who would you rather see? A little yellow Mouse who barely squeeks by and uses electric attacks you've seen 1000 times, or a Blue Humanoid Wolf with Aurora sphere, a new rasegen/Kamehameha attack that always appeals to 10 year olds, and Pokemon's main audience is boys.

But meh, Scott's right. Let's see what it thinks about Maylene's Lucario.

I think that Ash will try to boost Maylene's confidence about being a Gym Leader, and Lucario might help Ash in some way.

Well as far as it being a movie status Pokemon, Absol was promoted as a semi-legendary back in Movie 6. Aside from it not being the star of the movie and not talking, a lot of people said the writers treated it like it was legendary in the movie.

Then with a semi-main character (Drew) owning an Absol later on, it isn't that farfetched to see a main character own another one of those "sorta-treated-like-a-legendary-but isn't" types. I'd prefer he catch it unevolved first, however.
