Lucario vs Metagross

The two pokemon are pretty opposite--one favors Fighting, the other Psychic. I'm wondering which to include on my team.

Metagross has a higher combined stat of 600--Lucario is only 525. Metagross also has less weaknesses (albeit only one less). Metagross can also learn Magnet Rise to combat his Ground weakness, leaving him only with fire.

All the evidence points to Metagross being superior. I'm just wondering everyone's thoughts on the subject.

Whichever's your favorite, pretty much. They're both pretty good Steel-types, though personally I like Lucario better because they're a hell of a lot easier to raise from an egg. And they can get egg moves.

I'm in love with steel types, but I prefer lucario, partly because metagross takes all the glory of the physic-steel type away from my beloved bronzong, lol. regarless, it depends on what other guys you have in your line-up, really, and if you need speed, health, or a certain type. Still, I prefer Lucario.

Well, Lucario is a physical/special sweeper, and Metagross is a big, bulky tank, thus serving very different purposes. But, my favorite is probably 'Gross, 1. because shiny Beldum/Metang/Metagross all look awesome and 2. because it's a walking supercomputer with giant metal arms that can (and probably will ) crush you into pulp...how can you not like a description like that?

Alternate. As in, if he thinks something on his main team isn't going to be appropriate for something he is doing, he will swap it for the most appropriate alternate.

I say, Lucario for the win! It has great special attack/speed stats, and an awesome movepool.

Both are great, but Metagross is very standard while Lucario is much more versatile. People will have harder times predicting what Lucario will do. Meanwhile, Metagross is pretty obvious with it's Meteor Mash and EQ standards.

Dude, metagross isn't a sweeper. To be a sweeper, you have to be fast as well as able to do lots of damage. Metagross can do a lot of damage, but its speed stat is its lowest base stat, so it wouldn't be logical for metagross to sweep.

Dude, metagross isn't a sweeper. To be a sweeper, you have to be fast as well as able to do lots of damage. Metagross can do a lot of damage, but its speed stat is its lowest base stat, so it wouldn't be logical for metagross to sweep.

As far as metagame goes, yeah, Metagross is superior. I guess it has enough firepower and defense to wall Lucario's attacks while Earthquaking it to death. However, I like Lucario a little more simply because I've used it on my main playthrough teams before, unlike Metagross, who was too required a lot of patience to raise (none of which I had). As far as their images... they're equals in different ways. I see Metagross as a titanium titan, stomping around and firing laser beams off from its face. Lucario gives me an agile warrior not unlike a Jedi, good at both launching pulses of energy and beating the crud out of enemies with its aura bones.
