Most of you in this forum (at least the regular visitors) have come to know me as someonne who visits the Art Lounge a lot, but does't post any art herself, and even claims she can't draw.
So this picture I'm posting here needs a bit of explanation.

It all happened when Red posted his pictures. I gave some cooments at them, actually not meaning to be mean, but anyway, he felt that way (maybe I had to put some friendly smilies in it, but I was a bit hasty. Anyway, he got angry at me, causing a little argueing that ended in this PM

If you think your so good at this, show me a pic you drew on the comp, don't criticize people who's art might be even better than yours!

I can't draw, later on I'll explain why, so I replied with this PM

I don't. I can't show you a pic. Why not? Easy, I have a handicap at my hands, making it unable for me to draw. So I'm not drawing anymore. So it's not that hard for you to do better then me, but would it be fair? It's not so hard to see better that someone who's blind. Now I could easily put a picture here a friend of me draw and I colored and shaded it, but I'mnot that low.
However, I can bow on four years theorecital art eduction, and two years history of art, so don't say I don't know what I'm talking about , because I don't draw anymore!

Look, I'm not that harsh when it comes to giving critism. And I'm not afraid to give it to people who draw better then I do, thats not what critsm is about. Once me was told that artists posts there puctures here to get some critism, they don't like hearing "oh, you rule", "Your art's the best ever", "I can't draw like that". So when I gave some comments on your picture, I truely did this in the hope you could try to improve yourself, because I thought you wanted that kind of comment. And I was disapointed when you're pictures turned out, because I've seen so many really good Pokemon Special pictures. Besides, I didn't realize they where computer drawn at first. Maybe next time, tell they are computerdrawn. So don't get angry when people post critism. It's one of the risks of posting art, some people will go critizise you.

However, the whole thing started to hunt me and from earlier times I rememberd I could alway better draw with mouse then with hand, and I alway wanted to draw Lovdisc, so I decided to give it a try. I'm quite found about the way it came out myself.
It's not the best art ever, the pose is not original at all, the shading on Lovdisc could be inproved, but I esspecially like the background shading. I'm not too happy about the thick black lines, but when I tried to color them to make them look smoother, I didn't like the result.

So here's the pic.
And I'd really like to state that I drew this with a mouse and didn't scan it in

I really like the picture you drew.^^ for someone who doesn't draw much, and for someone who drew with a mouse, the lines are very precice and the tools you used worked out perfectly.^_^ I really like the background too. The black lines could have been a bit smaller, but I know that sometimes pictures don't look all that good when you really do it...so, I dunno.XD
I know what you mean by that critisism thing...sometimes I get tired of only "your good" and "I love your art". Although I love comments like that, they usually don't help me much with art (although they do boost my want to draw more).
I'm not trying to be negative people-just posting a fact.:-D I have yet to see the PERFECT picture.

Awww, that's so cute! *Glomps it*

It's just adorable, and I love the background! The shading is simple, yet effective. Like Chari said, the lines are a bit thick, but I know how hard it is to make thinner lines look smooth...

Isn't Luvdisc fun? I thought it was just the weirdest thing at first, but now I love it.

Eh, it's too bad some people can't take constructive criticism well. It's the best type of feedback, IMO, because it helps you get better. -^^-

I love the Luvdisc (woah, if you say that outloud, it sounds weird). I especially like how you made one of them yellow. There's gotta be an outcast, I always say ^-^ And I like how you gave them shadows, too.

I wouldn't be able to stand it if I posted a picture I made on here and get nothing but good comments. I kind of consider it as a diss. I work MY ass off for days in making a colored pencil drawing that I'm somewhat satisfied with, only to find that no one is gonna give me any helpful tips in making my artwork better? >.<" It's an outrage!

Ah, that picture is cool! (I think the back is a little cheesey, but I can't talk cause I get lazy on backs real fast)

Anyways, I am really happy to see one of your pictures but...

...^_^;; isn't this a little immature? (You can't fight fire with fire you know)

Thanks everyone!!

I really didn't expect some many positive replies. ;-) I mean, my mom told me she liked it, but she's my mom..:-D

Chari: Thanks!! I agree with you on the lines, but I had to choose between really thick and really thing lines, and the last thing just doesn't work for me, yet ;-) But if you consider that I'm alway told not to use too much lines when drawing, you can think I'll work on it. And I'm glad you like the background too, although I putted the coloring upsidedown, I wanted it to be black beneath, getting clearer above, like a deep sea, but never mind

Pacific Pikachu: Totaly agreed about luvdisc. At first I wasn't too happy about it, but after I got used too it, and I was bored at university, and started to scribble in my notes, and suddenly drew a primative Luvdisc, I actually wanted to draw one.

Myuu: The backgrounds ones are just GB sprites, I putted them there to get some background and I liked the result. About the shinning one, I putted it in to make them not all look the same, maybe something like "they are all different" I dunno. But when I makes stories up about shinnies, there are useally outcast indeed. There's something deeper about it, you're right. About the backgrounds shadows, I alway liked doing them, even at evil times I was forced by an evil art teacher (when I finished school I could get along with him really well, but that's a different story) and I like doing shading on pictures by computer, finaly a kind of shading that works for me :)

bell02 alpha: Well, I wouldn't have done this if I didn't want to draw a Luvdisc anyway, it only became a bit sooner right now.

That looks good to me. A steady hand for a mouse-drawn pic. I know I can't do that. ^_~

Don't listen to "critism" too much. What is that, anyway? A lackluster version of criticism? I'm with Chari, there's no value in always hearing "that's so good!" all the time. Tis why I glomped you all when you gave me suggestions in my last thread.

Oh.. so my cr1ti5m is that you should practice more, and maybe blend in your shading. And work a little on backgrounds. The repeat Luvdisc pattern works for a quick fix, but you know. ^_~

Practise more is something well said, this is my first computer-draw picture since four years. And using the pokemon as background is fun for once, but it if you do it again and again, it becomes boring

Quick question: How did you make the shadowing for the Luvdisc in the background?

I'm working with Appleworks, and that has a function which can fill a selected picture in one color with one mouseclick. I fisrt looked what the general colorof the lovediscs would be, choose to make that negative (since my art teacher learnt me that background shading is negative color of the picture combined with background) used the fill function in that color, then chosse a general color for the background and used the add color-function to mix the colors. Drawing with Appleworks' swo much fun, it really has some nice tools :)

sorry, i feel like a um... 'retard' after being like that to a handicapped person... BUt if hey, i like it to be tips, not critiscm(sp?)

Nice picture - I particuarly like the thick black outlines. I thought it would be interesting to see your art since you're frequently posting here.. and now I know. Keep on drawing, and you'll get even better. ^^

(I haven't heard of Appleworks though..)

Red: To me, tips and critism are a lot of the same, they are both ment to help someone get better, only the first sounds positive, the other to some people more negative. . But from now on, I'll only give you tips :-D
Anyway, I'm glad to see a reply from you, it shows a lot of character

Hanatori: The first one who likes the black :) I post a lot here since I like to se pretty pictures, and since I have to theoretical experience, anmd tell what I like about it, I'm giving comments as well. I thought about posting here earlier, but never felt I was good enough. Oh and Appleworks a program used on Macs, similair to Clarisworks, it combines variuos programs including a sketching mode, compare it to a upgraded paint, although it reminds me of good old Paintbrush as well (does anyone remember it?, I made my first drawings in it :) )

Anyway, all these encouraging post made me willing to draw something else, and so a Pokemon I never expected to like when I first saw it came out. I never liked Gulpin too much, but when I saw it's Sugemori picture, I suddenly thought it was cute. I'm not totaly satisfied about his tail (or whatever it is, I spend quite a time on making it look right) and shading, and I got the feeling it's not as good as the Lovedisc, but here's Gulpin!
Don't mind the lame background, I had the idea of a photagraph in mind, but I couls really use some sugestions on backgrounds

Aw, it's so cute! Slightly more complex than the structure of Luvdisc, too. Nice border choice; it clings with the background, making the Gulpin stand out more.

It looks so good it looks,, uhh fishy ^^!! Its making me hungry.. ;_;

Thanks everyone

Myuu: And I thought no one would like Gulpin! It was indeed harder to make then the Lovedisc, and with the borders I wanted to make some kind of wood effect, for giving it some more backgroundeffect then it had before

itsybitsyspider: Thanks!

SethPharos: Who said it would eat itself without a fight? "Lovedisc, use your Hydropump"

Not so bad drawings! I liked them! For some reason I felt attracted by the Luvdics one specially. Hope it isn't attacking me!

It only attacks when someone wants to eat it

Thanx!

For someone drawing with a mouse you made a nice job on both pics. I couldn't draw with a mouse even if my life would depend on it. ^^; I especially like the gulpin one, because of the shading and color and the nice frame you added to the pic aswell.

I'd suggest you to save your jpg files in the highest quality, that gets rid of that blurry effect due to compression.
