I just got heartgold today,and the weirdest thing happened. I wanted to pick the female character. Im a guy ,and i always pick the guy. But Lyra just looked so cool. Anyone else have this happen?
 
That IS the weirdest thing ever! You should submit yourself for scientific testing, 'cause they're all gonna want to hear about this! ^_^

Nah, but Lyra is just awesome. I was pretty skeptical at first, though I never had Crystal, so I had no affinity for Kris outside of the manga, but I lessthanthree Lyra. She's awesome. I'm happy to have her as my female counterpart.
 
I've been doing the same thing since Crystal. Honestly, I can't see much wrong with it, just like playing as a girl in any other game when the option is there, no matter what gender you are.
 
I do love her hat. But her smile in her official artwork is what caught me, it's soooooo cute. I love her and I picked her up too.
 
I suppose she's allright... though I always thought she looked a bit strange, personally. Very odd fashion sense.

Now Leaf... she was a cool-looking girl. She gave off a kinda tomboyish impression in her official art back for Fr/Lg.
 
I like her better than Kris, but overall I find her design to look kinda stupid. Also her constant lying to me gets on my nerves, telling me how her Marill evolves into an Azumarill over the phone, for me to discover it's still a Marill when I run into her next.

I like Dawn, Leaf and May far better.
 
UGH! I can't stand her. Sorry, but that hat and those eyes are just...blah.

The only time I used a female character was in Crystal, and that was only because it was the first time you could actually choose the characters gender, so I thought it'd be interesting.

I also think she's reeeallllly cute.
Her sprites are just so squidgy and awesome :D
 
Ever since Pokemon Crystal gave you the choice to play as a girl, I've always picked the girl character.
 
I always play as the Male characters (though might go female for Ranger 3 - don't wanna be Jedward) but I did play as Lyra on the HeartGold demo at the Arceus event. I just hope people with masculine names who play as girls pick a female name - I have a shiny Mesprit with the OT 'Steve' written in pink 0.0

Personally though, I don't like Lyra's design. My favourite female playable character was Leaf.

Have you seen her riding her bike upwards? omg it's so adorable, her hair looks like it's trying to make her fly. x3

But I'm a girl, so me playing the female character is nothing spectacular. :p Though I do love Kotone so much. She's just so adorable~

Yeah, I know! x3 They really did a good job on her sprites.

Also, the reason she has such Mushroom Kingdom-like clothing is because GF had their minds on the success of NSMB when they made the game. :3
 
Kotone is amazing,I normally pick the character whose desing I find more appealing (I am a girl)...so I was going to pick Hibiki,but I dunno why I chosed her at the last minute.I really really disliked her desing first,but it has grown on me :3

And the way her pigtails move,so cute x3
AND her hat,I want a hat like that.
