Kids' WB!, 10:00am
A comet containing the DNA-pokemon Deoxys lands on Earth, which upsets the ruler of the territory, Rayquaza. The two start an intense rivalry, during which Deoxys is presumably "killed." Four years later, Deoxys reappears in the high-tech LaRousse City, and it's up to Satoshi and his friends, including a young boy named Toh'i, to keep the rivalry between the two legendary pokemon from destroying the city.

Discuss Kids' WB!'s airing of the movie here. Even though the movie will contain spoilers for those who are following the dubbed version of the show, please refrain from giving any additional spoilers in this thread unless you put them in Spoiler Tags.

You think Dogasu won't be comparing the two? :p

It'll be interesting to see what WB does here. I'm sure the DVD will remain untouched (except for the animation changes we've seen in the preview clips), but on TV they'll just be asking for a bunch of time and maybe even content edits.

The movie should be starting right about now for some people, correct?

It's TV-Y. Terrific. :rolleyes:

I can't get this movie to sync up with my Japanese copy to save my life. It's not that they're actually cutting material (so far everything's been uncut), but I can't get it to sync up. It'll be perfectly synched up for a second or two, and then suddenly the Japanese version will lag behind a bit. Weird.

I won't be able to view the movie due to a prior engagement, but it seems that they *are* leaving in the much-debated scene where Rayquaza blows Deoxy's arm off. They did a little segment where Cartoon Jackie from JCA talked about Deoxys being able to regenerate itself.

Remind me what TV-Y means, since I have no idea what the US ratings system is. I assume it stands for Youth, but does Youth mean Children or Teenagers? I assume the former, in which case...how many content edits did we see?

There's no difference between Japanese and US NTSC as far as I know....the station slightly increasing the tempo at points to make room for their commercials?

TV-Y means it's for kids. There's also TV-Y7 which is the norm for kids shows with a bit of violence.

And yeah, WB's probably speeding the movie up a little to make room for commercials.

Wow, pointless paint edits abound.

Is it really necessary to paint over the English word "SHOPPING" with the same word, only in a different font?

Toh'i = Tory
Rondo-Hakase = Professor Lund
Ryuu = Ray (or Race)
Hitomi = Rebecca
Shouta = Sid

...and I'm pretty sure that Brock's reference to Professor Ivy wasn't there originally...

Well, they cut out the whole Musashi butt scene. And everything leading up to that.

They also cut a scene of Toh'i and the gang eating in the park.

Remember, a good deal of these cuts will be time cuts. Kids' WB! demands a lot of commercial time, if you recall.

Gonbe's still there. Just that one scene.

There was also a scene cut with Satoshi and Toh'i talking at night.

Lovely Boy got replaced by a song that I assume is called "Livin' in a Paradise."

Hmm. You're about only one-third through the movie now, I think, real time mark 1 hour....

In any case. Lovely boy replaced with instrumental would probably be better...

...... For the moving walkway or the train? Either way, he's scary enough without understanding.
