Well, the big day has arrived: the fourth Advanced Generation movie (or ninth movie overall) has finally started in Japanese theatres. Once we get the reports in about the plot from people who've actually seen it, we'll be able to more accurately judge how good this movie is.

How is the plot overall? Is the movie's villain actually menacing? Will Takeshi and Masato get decent roles? Will the Rocket-Dan actually do something this go around? How are the new pokemon? Hopefully, these questions and more will be answered soon.
 
Guesses:

Based on what we know of the plot, I'm guessing it's going to be similar to M6, and will receive similar reactions.

The Italy theme means that the music will be excellent.

Because the promotional tickets are for Pokémon Ranger, promotional ticket sales will be down compared to previous years.

We'll have something very provocative at the end about next year's movie and/or the next anime series.
 
Altomare Latios said in the SPP chat room that the plot had the same basic formula as Jirachi. That seemed slightly evident from the trailers, but who knows... It could still be good.

This will have to be my favorite movie since it has so many water Pokemon in it. :D

Also, I don't think that pirate guy is the true villian. I think the guy that was standing next to him when he was looking at Manaphy's egg with the Perap on his shoulder is the true villian. :D
 
Um, I heard Diaruga was only in the movie for a commercial, the same one with the new Electabuzz evo.

And a 10th Movie was confirmed, but no more info.


This sounds cool...

Manafi uses Heart Swap so that pikachu and May give Ash power, he puts the crystal back in the temple, achieves some kind of ancient power (Ash can fly in a yellow beam) and has final confrontation with Phantom.

*GASP* Blasphemy!! ;)

I haven't seen the 9th movie, but the plot seems quite exciting. Jackie sounds like a total Stu, and May/Hiromi is liek so canon. :p

Haha, I noticed that too. A movie ALL about Water Pokemon and TWO water legendary Pokemon, and this happens when Misty is off the cast. LMAO.

From what I read on Japanese fansites, most people loved the movie. May plays a huge part and co-stars the film with Ash, they have a lot of neat scenes together from what I'm reading. :x

From what I'm seeing, Ash really acts like a hero in this movie. But...
He dies again. >_>

And Manaphy's Heart Swap allows the tears of May and Pikachu to bring him back to life.
On a slightly different note, it looks like the AdvanceShippers will be really happy with this movie.

Looks like they REALLY will. It sounded like Manaphy was an Advanceshipper or something. xD ... Or he just didn't take note of Takeshi or Masato's existence...

^ Brock and Max weren't with them, the whole last segment of the movie is all Ash/May/Manaphy.

Brock/Max were really tossed into the background in this movie, they did next to nothing.

Most of the focus was on Ash/May/Manaphy followed by Jackie/Hiromi.

Oh, and there is about a minute worth of footage of Ash and May swimming in their bathing suits together.
