Made this thread so there is no spoilers for the dub watchers.
It has been confirmed that I Choose You will air one time in theaters on November 5th and November 6
A list of theaters have been revealed but have since been taken back for more locations later on.

I don't think there are dub preview threads, even for movies.

the latin american dub will begin "in a few days", so it's very likely that they are joining the cinema release, usually movies arrive a year after Japan.

Well, I don't see the problem. People could give their thoughts about the release date and also speculate on the trailers that might come.

Normally we don't allow dub preview threads, but I'm fine with it in this case. I think there is enough to discuss in relation to the dub of this movie, like where it is released in theaters and how they will treat it in relation to the original.

But they only difference is that it's in english, the rest is the same. And if we do it for this, we might as well have a preview thread for the dub of every movie and episode. I'm just saying, it makes little sense.

People have generally been more interested in this movie than they have for most movies in the franchise due to being a 20th anniversary of the anime. Dub fans may want to talk about the upcoming movie without worrying about spoilers. It's kind of like the dub talkback threads in a way. We do have different talkback threads for the dub versions of each episode despite how the episodes are usually the same but in a different language too.

I doubt that we'll have something like this for every movie from this point forward, but given the amount of attention and hype that this movie has gotten, I think it's fine to make an exception for this one.

>Goldfarb back again for apparently the 4th dub Movie under TPCi to have a dub exclusive music score

Just leaving that here since we've learned he is, in fact, returning.

No 4Kids VA and Japanese score means I'm gonna gleefully download this movie in Japanese with English subs. If TPCI won't give a product fans want and will pay for, their loss.
I'd bring up JCC's script writing as another issue in addition to the two you brought up I'd normally have, but with TR's diminished presence in this film (and they tend to get the worst rewrites in the current dub Era, albeit they're *not* the only ones at all) and JCC not messing around nearly as much as he does in the Anime & Spinoff dubs in the Movie dubs with the scripts...save for them (usually), that may not be an issue. Regardless, the (frankly imo too, much worse) quality of the modern-day dub VA vs. the days of old & the fact we got word Goldfarb is confirmed to be returning to do a dub Movie score *again* = same feelings as you.

No, no no no no no no non no no no no no no non ono n on on on on o no n on onono no n on on o
Yup, I wish it weren't so, but...it is. :(

I just showed my girlfriend, who hasn't watched any modern Pokémon episodes, an XY episode (Summer of discovery) just to show her the differences. The reactions were the best!

"Why does everyone's eyes look like they're on drugs?"

"Is that supposed to be Ash? He sounds horrible and like he's 45". Sarah Natochenny's "talent" at its finest!

And then there was the progression of hearing the awful voices for Squirtle, Bulbasaur and finally Tom Waylands god awful mess he called Charmander.

If Sarah Natochenny and the gang think the backlash in 2006 when they stole other people's jobs was bad, they ain't seen nothing yet. Because when long time Pokémon fans go to see this movie and hear her voice and others, coupled with the nonsense plot and no Misty and Brock, this film is gonna get RIPPED TO SHREDS. TPCI knows they can't keep this in theaters longer than two days without it bombing horribly here in the USA.

I doubt it will bomb horribly. We all live in this fandom bubble, but there are a lot of casual fans who don't know about the negative buzz and might see it. Not everyone has as much affection for the old animation and voices as you and others do. I think a lot of people who will go see the film are old fans who may not care for animation or voices and who haven't bothered with Pokémon for years. They're just going to be excited that something from their youth is being shown in theaters.

Also, you're acting very strange, as if TPCi and its voice actors ruined your life or something. I can understand being disappointed with the way how things have gone, but you're acting like it's the end of the world and they attacked you personally. Is it that hard to move on? I mean, the cast change happened like 11 years ago. No one stole other people's jobs. That's just ridiculous. It's a shame the old voice cast couldn't continue, yes, but that's not the new cast's fault.

First off, the TPCI cast did not steal other people's jobs. If you want to blame someone for the VA change, then TPCI would make more sense than the people they hired. It's fine if you don't like them or you're still upset over the VA change that happened over a decade ago, but please don't treat the current voice casts as if they're villains who deliberately stole the roles from the original voice actors.

I don't think that the reason behind keeping the movie in theaters longer than two days has anything to do with the voice cast or Misty and Brock not being in the movie. Even if they could get the original cast back and the movie did have Misty and Brock in it, it would still be in limited release. This isn't the first Pokemon movie available in such a limited release. I'm pretty sure that the Victini movie was only airing for one or two weekends too. Most anime movies that are put in theaters nowadays are only available for a limited time. This is the 20th anniversary celebration for the anime, but it doesn't have the same kind of immense popularity as it did when the first movie came out. It would still be a rather short limited run regardless of the voice cast and characters involved, so it's not like it would bomb horribly if it was out for longer than two days. I'm pretty sure that the movie has done pretty well financially in Japan, at least more so than the last few movies, so I don't know if the lack of Misty and Brock bothered Japanese fans that much.

Besides all that, I'm not sure if people are going to be that upset over Ash's voice, especially for fans who may not have watched the anime for awhile. I know that you talked about your girlfriend's reactions to a more recent episode, but that wouldn't necessarily mean anyone who hasn't seen the show in years would feel the same way. While I still prefer Veronica Taylor over Sarah Natocheeny, I also think that she has improved immensely compared to when the TPCI dub started and she has been technically voicing Ash longer than Veronica Taylor did. There has been a whole generation of fans who grew up with the TPCI cast as their first exposure to the show, which I don't think should be ignored or downplayed. Even the more casual fan or people who haven't watched Pokemon in ages may just like the idea of seeing Ash's beginning journey in theaters. It would have enough nostalgic appeal, at least on paper, to draw more people in. I could see more people being upset over the lack of Misty and Brock more so than Ash's voice, if only because people would have wanted to see the old gang back together again for a movie, but I don't think it would cause that many people to rip the movie into shreds and bomb if it wasn't available for only two days. People will still go see and and be excited for it regardless.

I agree with Hidden Mew, as I am one of the "generation that grew up with TPCi". I actually started playing and watching Pokémon 10 years ago. I started with Taz Productions and Pokemon USA's Diamond and Pearl, which is why I love and more open to the way the dub is now.

Also have you had Experience with Fathom Events? They show things for a very limited release. I remember Yo-Kai Watch the Movie was aired one day at one time and that was it and then it wasn't shown on Disney XD for months.
Fathom Events are known for their special limited release schedule. It isn't because TPCi thinks its gonna fail

After looking up Fathom events on their website, yep they do limited screenings for most of the movies there. Things like the Studio Ghibli movies, Batman, the old TCM movies and plenty of others get the exact same treatment. I'm pretty sure the Dub knows what they're doing with this special limited release. If this does successful enough then, we might see a bigger release worldwide and hopefully unlike the YoKai-Watch movie it doesn't get shafted as bad as this one did.
