I haven't seen this at all around this forum, so I may as well be the one to start it.
Basic Mafia Rules, and information, etc:
There is an offsite forum which will have Dead Chat and Night Chats for roles which need them. You can find it here. You can sign up without email verification. (I'll be updating this forum for this game when I start it.)
This version will not have a set number of slots. I have ideas for various game sizes. To make sure you're not a reserve, please ensure you sign up on the night chat forum too! Signups will last for two, possibly three days. Please do not sign up if you won't be able to commit to the game for potentially up to a month!

Basic Mafia Rules, and information, etc:
Mafia is a game where you are randomly assigned a role that only you know. You are also allied with other people and given an objective that must be carried out to win. There are usually two factions, the "town" and the "mafia." The town always outnumbers the mafia at the beginning of the game.
There are two phases in the game, day and night. During the day, everyone can participate in discussion, and you can also vote to eliminate a player. If the majority of everyone left in the game vote for a person, that person is eliminated and the day ends. During the night phase, the mafia chat with each other to select a target player to eliminate from the game. Players who are eliminated are considered "dead," have their role revealed to everyone, and cannot participate further. The town wins when all mafia players are eliminated. Conversely, the mafia wins if they outnumber the town.
The best part about Mafia is the various roles you can become. Typical roles include the sheriff and doctor, but there are lots of other ones with various functions. Most of them have an ability that works only at night.
Lastly, you may have to lie in order to conceal your role, especially if you are mafia or an anti-town role.
Last Wills: The Last Will is a message, however long or short, that is published when you die. You may update this (PM me) at any point in the game.
Death Notes: The Death Note is a message anonymously revealed at the beginning of day upon a kill. Only mafia and evil neutrals may use the Death Note. If you use it, send it along with your night kill.

Roles List:
Will be created when game starts.
Role Information:
Town Roles
Citizen
You are a Citizen! You have no special abilities.
Clarifications: None.
Sheriff
You are a Sheriff! You have good instincts that let you distinguish good and bad people. Each night, you may choose a person to check. You will be notified if they are Mafia or an evil neutral.
Clarifications: If you find an evil neutral, you will be given their exact role unless they are Cult recruits (NOT the leader), in which you will only learn they are part of the Cult. If you discover a mafia member, you will not be given a role, just alignment... unless it's the Godfather, who will seem unsuspicious.
Investigator
You are an Investigator! You search for clues that point out what people are up to. Each night, you may choose a person to check. You will be given a clue as to what role they might be.
Clarifications: A framer can cause you to get incorrect results.
Doctor
You are a Doctor! You have the ability to quickly heal the wounded if you can get there quickly enough. Each night, you may choose a person to save. If that person is attacked, you will be notified, and you will save them. You also have the ability to stop cult conversions, and will be notified upon doing so.
Clarifications: Cannot target self. Cannot heal kills by the Arsonist. If a person is attacked multiple times, an equal number of doctors must be on that person in order for him to be saved.
Bodyguard
You are a Bodyguard! You are willing to sacrifice your life for that of your protector. Each night, you may choose a person to protect. If that person is attacked, you and the attacker will die, regardless of immunity or vests on the attacker.
Clarifications: The Bodyguard cannot guard himself, so cannot kill his attacker if attacked directly. Cannot block Arsonist kills.
Vigilante
You are a Vigilante! You want to see the scum dead, and you want to deal with them yourself. Each night, you may choose to kill someone. You may do this twice, but you cannot shoot on the first night.
Clarifications: None.
Mason Leader
You are the leader of the Masons! You have just started up a new branch in town and are looking for new members. Each night, you can choose someone to attempt to recruit. If your target is a Citizen, they will be recruited. If your target is a member of the Cult, you will kill them instead. If your target is anything else, nothing happens and you will be notified of failure. You also share a night chat with Masons you have recruited.
Clarifications: In the event the Mason Leader dies, the earliest recruited Mason will be promoted to replace him. Masons will not spawn at the beginning of the game, so you will have to rough it alone until you find a recruit.
Mayor
You are the leader of the town, gone into hiding due to the mafia threat. You may choose to reveal yourself by PM’ing me during the day. Once you do, a public announcement will be made and your vote counts for 3.
Clarifications: Yes, this is different from last game’s mechanic. Makes it clearer that way.
Dancer
You are a Dancer! You may choose someone to roleblock during the night.
Clarifications: Will die if targeting the Serial Killer. Cannot be roleblocked.
Veteran
You are a war Veteran, shell-shocked and paranoid from the war! You may choose to go on alert during the night, killing everyone who visits you. You pierce immunities and vests. You may do this 3 times.
Clarifications: You kill the Spree Killer and Witch if they visit you, but not the Watcher.
Tracker

Clarifications: Does not get attacked by the Veteran or the Spree Killer. Cannot detect the Godfather.
Spy
You are a Spy! You are secretly hunting down the mafia. Each night, you may choose to spy on the mafia. You will then be given up to two targets of the mafia. You may use this ability twice.
Clarifications: You will not learn the identities of any mafia members, only those of the people they targeted that night.
Coroner
You are a Coroner! You work with the dead, but in a way different from that of a Mortician. Each night, you may choose a person in the graveyard. You will learn that person’s role, last will, and every night action the person performed and who the targets were. You will also stop a Graverobber from stealing that person’s ability.
Clarifications: If a Lawyer’s fake last will is still in effect on your target, you will receive it instead.
Mortician
You are a Mortician! You work with the dead, but in a way different from that of a Coroner. Each night, you may choose a person in the graveyard. You will learn that person’s role, last will, and every action which targeted that person. You will also stop a Graverobber from stealing that person’s ability.
Clarifications: If a Lawyer’s fake last will is still in effect on your target, you will receive it instead.
Jailor
You are a Jailor! During the day, you may choose to detain someone for the night (PM me). This roleblocks the target but gives them night immunity. You can chat anonymously with your target during the night, and can choose to execute him. You may only execute twice. YOU WILL NOT EXECUTE YOUR TARGET IF A LYNCH OCCURS THAT DAY.
Clarifications: Arsonist kills will fail on a jailed target. If controlled by a Witch, the Jailor will be forced to execute his target even if he has no executions remaining. An execution pierces immunities.
Bus Driver
You are a Bus Driver! You may choose to swap two people at night. Night actions on those people will be redirected to the other. Cannot target self.
Clarifications: Night actions of the two people who were bussed do not get redirected unless they were to the other bussed person. If a bus results in a killer targeting and killing himself, a special death description will be posted. If targeted by a Witch, the Bus Driver will swap his first target with the Witch’s second target.
Jack-of-all-Trades
You are a Jack-of-all-Trades! You can do anything. Except you are running out of supplies…
Each night you may choose to either save someone, investigate, roleblock, track, watch, or shoot. You may only use each type of action once. Cannot target self.
Clarifications: Normal rules apply for all actions, and when the JoaT acts will depend on where his action happens in the Order of Operations.
Commuter
You are a Commuter! You can "leave Town" at Night, making you impossible to target at night by anything.
The Commuter may not leave town on two consecutive nights.
Clarifications: The Commuter can leave on Night 1, but if they do, they may not leave on Night 2. If their first leave of town was on Night 2, they would not be able to leave again until Night 4, etc.
You are a Citizen! You have no special abilities.
