Before I post my story I would like to state a few things. Not only do I not own Pokemon (No duh) I also do not own the characters known as "The Super Pokefriends" and their arch enemy. They were all created and owned by Jnoo. I do however own all the other characters that will appear through this story.
If you are interested in the Super Pokefriends, please check out Jnoo's story here:
http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/showthread.php?t=29903&page=4
(I know it’s not the first chapter but the first appearance of the team is on this page)
While I wrote it, Jnoo made some corrections and additions. After all, I would hate to get his characters wrong. =)
Anyway, enjoy!
-----------------
In a nearby bank within Sael City, the city of dreams, a small, gray, puppet-like Pokemon with red eyes, a yellow tail, and a zipper-like mouth enters the room by his lonesome passing through the red lasers, which went through him. He was known as the sinister Baron Banette, and his motives were clear. He manages to sneak into the bank's high security vault, and since he was a Ghost Pokemon with pure ghost-like traits, it wasn't difficult for him to sneak inside.
“Silly humans,” he said. “They would never expect tiny little Baron Banette to come inside and steal everybody's money! Now I'll be rich for life!”
Baron floats over and attempts to take the gold, but the door cracks a lot and the sounds of grunting could be heard on the other side. Baron looks behind him to see a small Pichu, a yellow mouse-like Pokemon with pink cheeks and black tipped ears with a small, black, lighting bolt-shaped tail, lift the giant metal wall and move it aside. Baron Banette freaks out and begins to move back.
“You're caught red handed, Baron Banette!” the Pichu said. “Give yourself up!”
“When will you brats learn to just give up!” he snapped.
Baron Banette shoots ghostly fireballs at the Pichu causing him top run forward and push them aside with ease. He trips the alarm, but he still manages to punch him and send him through the metal wall behind him and out into the alleway behind him. He was suddenly blasted by multicolored beams that come out of nowhere. Baron tries to use his special eyes to see where this mysterious Pokemon was firing her beams from. He looks around and eventually sees a purple butterfly-like Pokemon with red eyes, blue hands, feet and mouth and white stylized wings. Baron Banette fires a shadowy bolt from his eyes and strikes the Butterfree hard, but her attack was stopped by a big, orange and tan, balloon-like body. She looks up to see his Buizel partner, whose weasel-like face and curve head was noticeable to his fellow partner.
“Thanks, Longshot,” she said.
The Buizel deflates himself and returns to his normal, skinny self. He extends his arm and wraps it around the Baron and coils him up nicely. He breaks free using his ghostly powers, but was immediately knocked by a speeding Pikachu that shoots at him like a rocket. Baron Banette picks himself up, but was instantly burned as he falls to the ground, unconscious by a red, lizard-like Pokemon with a curved horn on the back of his head.
“That'll teach you,” he said.
“Good work, team!” the yellow mouse said.
The five come together and raise their fists in victory. Just then...
“Annnnnnnnnnd….cut!” yelled the director.
The Five Pokemon hear him and stop what they were doing almost immediately. Each of the Pokemon, wearing a pair of goggles and a bandana, go their separate ways after a hard days work. The Pokemon quintets were known by the entire world as, “The Super Pokefriends”. They were a group of Pokemon superheroes, each with a unique power. There was Sparkster the Pikachu, who was the leader of the team, able to run as fast as a bullet train and can cross the whole world in mere hours; Powerchu the Pichu, the younger real life brother of Sparkster (which was the same in the show too), who had enough strength to lift a humongous skyscraper with ease; Longshot the Buizel who could stretch any part of his body to almost endless limits, even across the entire earth if he wanted to; Flashfire the Charmeleon, a partner to Longshot, can grow as tall as an entire continent; and Miss Mirage the Butterfree, the only female of the group, with the power to fully conceal herself from the eyes of everyone. However, their powers were just mere special effects, since the whole thing was part of a popular kids TV show. This show was even loved and adored by both kids and adults and had a huge fanbase.
Sparkster, the yellow mouse with the red cheeks, black tipped ears and lightning bolt tail sighs as he takes a big drink from a water bottle near a table in the studio set for Pokemon like him. He was proud of himself, but was exhausted after a hard days work.
”Was I good, big brother?!” said a young voice from behind him.
Sparkster looks to his right and sees his younger brother, Powerchu. All of the Pokemon had the names of the characters they play, and since they didn't work on any other shows, they were known only by their stage names.
”You did great!” exclaimed Sparkster with a smile, “You are getting much better with each episode, Powerchu!”
Powerchu starts to rub the back of his head in embarrassment. His paw hits the weak leg on the table, causing it to shake and knock off all the other water bottles on it.
”Oops!”
Sparkster laughs and hands his little brother his bottle of water. Powerchu gulps it down hastily. Sparkster takes his drink and looks at the clock, telling him that it's 2:00 PM.
”What are you going to do today, big brother?” asked the little Pichu.
”I have another signing to get to,” replied Sparkster with a sigh. “What about you? What do you plan on doing?”
”I am going to get a nice ice cream!” Powerchu happily announced. “But, gee, I wish I had a signing to get to like you, big brother!”
Sparkster pats him on the head, knowing that he's do one with him one of these days. The two electric-type actors departed from one another with Sparkster heading down town, and Powerchu heading to the park area. He was starving, since all he had today was the usual dry Pokemon food for breakfast.
------------------------------------
It took him a while, but once he arrives at the Jubilife Park, the little Pichu sits on one of the wooden benches nearby. The journey, despite not being that long made Powerchu's leg tired and weak. He turns his head to the right, then to the left to look and see if there were any ice cream stands around. No such luck for the little Pichu superhero. Powerchu sighs sadly; he won’t be eating any cold treats anytime soon.
”Oh, gee!” whined the Pichu. “I could really go for a nice cold ice cream on a hot day like this!”
Just then, Powerchu hears a crowd of joyful screams coming from young girls, all of whom were dressed in Super Pokefriends liscenced T-shirts and goggles, similar to what the actors wore. Powerchu was overjoyed; he couldn’t believe that the fans of the show were approaching him. Normally the fans went after his big brother, but today, Powerchu thought that he would get the fans attention and praise. Putting on an adorable face, the Pichu jumped down and awaited the hugs, pulling of his cheeks and admiring giggles from the female fans. However, his speculation did not come true. The girls run right past him without passing a single gaze to his tiny body. Not only that, but one of them accidentally kicks Powerchu in the face, sending him rolling down the bank and into the water. He spits out a fountain of water and watches as the fans disappear from sight.
”I really thought they wanted to see me,” said the Pichu miserably. “I never get any attention from the fans…”
As he walks out of the water, a human figure was watching him from behind the bushes. The mysterious figure steps out of the bushes. The man, who had short blue hair and wore a long red robe, unusual for this day and age, watches as Powerchu walks away.
”Patience, little TV star,” said the figure in dark tone. “Your chance of fame will come very soon.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
An hour quickly came and went while Powerchu was still at the park. The young superhero had nothing better to do, since his big brother was still at the signing and the other Pokefriends were in a location Powerchu didn’t know. The Pichu’s spirits had died down; he was lonely, hungry and upset that the fans don’t appreciate him as much as they do his co-workers.
”Hello young one,” said a voice.
Powerchu looks over at where the voice was coming from and sees the blue haired man.
”Who are you?” asked the Pichu. “Are you a fan?”
The man chuckles before smiling at him.
“You could say that,” he replied. “I do not watch the show but I do show interest in you, young Powerchu.”
”You do…?” said Powerchu with a baffled blink of the eyes.
The strange man smiles and places his hand on top of Powerchu’s small yellow head. A strange sensation came over Powerchu; he feels relaxed and blissful of a reason he did not know.
”You want to use your powers in real life, do you not?” the man asked.
”How did you know?!” asked a shocked Powerchu.
”I know many things. On screen, you are the respected and super cute powerhouse, but off screen, you are not really anything but a normal Pokemon. You have finally realized this, haven’t you?”
Powerchu looks down. What the mysterious man said was true; Powerchu did want to use his power of Super Strength outside the show. His powers were special effects used to the most convincing quality, and so were the rest of his co-workers. He was confused as to how this human knew of his greatest wish, but he wasn’t going to question it anymore.
“I can grant you that power,” spoke the man. “However, for that to happen, you must do me a small favor in return.”
The small Pichu’s eyes light up after hearing the first sentence spoken by the man. His young mind thought that he could actually give him his powers. He paid no attention, however to the part with this so called favor.
“Can you?!” asked Powerchu excitedly, “It would be really, really cool if you did!”
The man chuckles and once again pets the Pichu on the head, giving him the strange relaxing sensation. He reaches into his robe and pulls out a small, yet long staff, gold in color with a medium sized red orb sitting on the top. Powerchu was entranced by the object, so much that he attempts to reach out and touch it, but the man simply moves it up out of the reach of his tiny paws. The man starts to chant in a language that Powerchu was unfamiliar with; it was nothing he had heard on the show, or in any sort of program for that matter. In fact, none of the languages he heard in the past came close to the words the man was chanting. It was almost as if it was ancient and cryptic.
“What are you saying?” The Pichu couldn’t help but ask.
Suddenly, Powechu feels a strange and powerful vibe go through his body. It wasn’t any of his electrical attacks; in fact, it was much stronger; stronger than anything he had ever felt in his life. The feeling suddenly dies down, but he feels much different than before. His body shape and size had not changed at all, but somehow, he was different. The only thing that wasn’t the same as before was his forehead. A small symbol, shaped like a pentagram with glowing black outlines, now occupies his tiny little forehead.
“Well?” asked the bizarre man. “Why don’t you try out your powers?”
“I have them?” questioned the Pichu. “I have my powers? For real?!”
The man nods softly and points to a lone tree surrounded by a flowerbed and a sign post.
“Try picking that tree up” he suggested.
Powerchu nods and walks over to the tree. He ignores the sign not because his reading skill weren’t that great, but because he was too excited to try out his new ability that he paid no attention at all to it. The sign read:
“Jubilife Park's oldest living tree: It has lived for centuries, but it lives on for eternity. It looks like a normal young tree due to magical feedings from the soil beneath, experts say.” - Park owner
Powerchu grunts and lifts the tree out of its root with no problem at all, causing the massive tree to tower over his tiny body. He could even hold the entire thing with one finger.
”Wow! This is awesome!” exclaimed the Pichu.
He throws the tree high up into the air, landing back on the ground next to him with a huge crash. The man walks up to him while Powerchu cheers happily, unaware of the consequences that would eventually follow.
”This is great, mister!” said Powerchu happily. “This is real! This is really real!”
“Yes, it is, my dear Pichu,” chuckled the man. “Now it’s time for the favor”
“Favor?”
“For now, all I want you to do is call me ‘Master’”
Powerchu tilts his head in confusion.
”Master?” he asked, unaware of his reason behind that word.
“Yes, it’s good manners,” said the man. “You call a man ‘sir’ out of respect, don’t you? So why not ‘Master’?”
The Pichu smiles and nods in response.
”That makes sense, master!” giggled Powerchu.
People start to run up to the scene, where the old tree was now leveled. The eyes of Powerchu started to sparkle once again, finally hoping to be embraced by the fans. However, the Pichu is about to feel yet another blow of rejection. These people were not fans of him, nor of the show, but park visitors who respected the old tree that Powerchu “destroyed.” They all gather around the tree with looks of sadness on their faces.
“That tree was the oldest one in the park!” said one man.
“It was the town’s landmark and symbol!” said another.
“Who could have done such a terrible thing?!” exclaimed another voice in anger.
Powerchu suddenly feels really awful about himself now. He had no idea a tree could be loved that much. He wanted to admit to everyone, admit that he was the one who killed that poor tree. However, those words of guilt never made it out of his mouth; he was too scared of being attacked and hated, especially if they found out who he really was. Powerchu walks away from the crime scene he himself had caused, with his head held down in shame.
“You did well, Powerchu” said the voice of the mysterious man.
Powerchu lifted up his head to see the man he now calls ‘Master’ standing on the path ahead of him. The man had a wicked smile stretched across his face.
”Master,” The Pichu started to announce dejectedly, “I did something wrong, didn't I?”
“No,” the man replied shaking his head.
”But, all those people are upset…”
“They are just jealous of you.”
“Jealous of me…?”
”Those people live their normal lives everyday with thoughts of becoming someone more significant in this world. They envy others with greater fortunes then they do and thus become angry at everything they do that they cannot.”
Powerchu smiles as he falls victim to the words of the man. He no longer felt bad about destroying the old tree. His eyes flashed a tint of red and he chuckled. He hopped onto the man’s shoulders and together they left the park.
”Powerchu…” the man started to speak.
”Yes, master?” replied Powerchu, slightly turning his head to face him.
”I think it’s time for you to test your strength out on more mobile targets. You want to become popular so more people who watch your show will know you outside the show, correct?”
Powerchu nods in response.
“Then what better than to participate in a Pokemon battle?” suggested the man with an evil grin.
“Pokemon Battle?” said the superhero Pichu, looking away with his voice sounding very unsure. “I don’t know. I never really experienced a real Pokemon battle before. All the fights on the show weren’t real; only choreographed!”
The man chuckles and looks around for a human Pokemon trainer. His eyes caught onto a 16-year old girl with long red hair that stopped just at the bottom of her neck. She had hazel-colour eyes with some of her hair covering her right eye. The red-haired trainer was also wearing a black shirt with a picture of a Pokeball with a fiery background on it. Her pants were a navy blue; a bit ripped at some places.
“Alright!” said the girl in a brisk voice. “You girls can stop now and take a rest!”
The girl was addressing her two Pokemon, which were sparring with one another. One was a small, fox-like Pokemon with a red-brown coat with six stunning orange tails, swaying from side-to-side. This Pokemon was called a Vulpix. It holds up its nose in pride while approaching her trainer, followed by yet another Fire Type. It had red fur with a large bushy tail, fluffy collar and a tuft of fur on its head, all of which were yellow. The following Pokemon was a Flareon; one of the many Eevee Evolutions when exposed to a Fire Stone. It swayed its huge fluffy tail from side-to-side to match the momentums of her Vulpix partner's tails.
“What do you think of those Pokemon, Powerchu?” questioned the blue haired man.
“I think her Pokemon are really cool, master!” said the tiny electric mouse.
“Cool isn’t the right descriptive word I would use for Fire-Types,” chuckled the man. “Anyway, how would you like to battle them?”
Powerchu gasps in shock.
“Master, I can’t! I told you! I haven’t been in a real life Pokemon battle before. All the battles I had were on the show and even then big brother helped me with everything.”
The man laughs heartedly at the little Pichu’s concerns. He rubs him on his head; calming him down almost instantly. He walks over to the female trainer who was feeding her two prized Pokemon some Poffins; colored, bread-like snacks that were good for Pokemon.
“Excuse me,” said the man to the trainer.
The girl and her Pokemon glanced up at the mysterious person with the goggle wearing Pichu on his shoulder.
“Yeah?” asked the girl in an impolite manner, “What do you want? Can’t you see I am busy?”
Powerchu jumped down from the shoulders of his master. He looked at both the human trainer and her two Pokemon, hoping they would recognize him as the super strong Powerchu from the Super Pokefriends television series. Unfortunate for the small Pichu, this girl didn’t look like someone who would want to waste her time watching a popular kids show. It was only assumed that the Flareon and Vulpix followed suit.
“My Pichu would like to fight you,” said the man, pointing down at Powerchu.
The feminine trainer scoffed, annoyed that such a weak Pokemon would fight her strongest.
“Sorry,” she scoffed, “but I don’t have time to battle novice trainers with their puny Pokemon!”
Powerchu was both hurt and insulted. He was about to speak out in retaliation, but the man stopped him from doing so however.
“If we are what you say we are,” the man said, “it wouldn’t take you that long you defeat us, right?”
“I guess not,” replied the trainer in an unsure tone of voice, “but my Pokemon will feel insulted if they battle with Pokemon with so little experience”
“Flar!” shouted the Fire Eevee evolution, feeling the same way as her arrogant trainer.
“Vul! Vul!” said the Vulpix, also sharing the same feelings as her trainer and Flareon partner.
”I want to fight!” Powerchu spoke up suddenly now with confidence in his voice.
The girl almost fell back in surprise after hearing the small Pichu sprout out English-speaking words.
”Your Pichu can talk?!”
“That is correct,” said the man with a chuckle. “Not only does he possess the talent to speak the human tongue, but he also possesses the strength to take both of your Pokemon at once!”
At that statement the girl breaks into a mighty laugh. Her Pokemon also start to laugh at what the man said, following their trainers personality right to the mark. Powerchu looks down at the ground and starts rubbing his little finger in the shards of grass bashfully.
”Do not show doubt in your new abilities, Powerchu” the man said after looking at the little Pichu’s reaction. “I believe you can do it and so do you.”
”You’re right, master!” said Powerchu, putting on a slight smile.
Powerchu was now ready to participate in his very first Pokemon battle against not one, but two Pokemon at the same time. No longer did he feel doubt in his new abilities. He believes in his master's words so strongly that he would risk anything that came his way.
”So be it,” said the girl, putting on a smug smile from her laughing fit, “If your baby wants to play with fire, let it get burned!”

To be continued.
