Hooray! My very first ever thread AND post in the Bulbagarden forums!
Anyhoo, My name's Kyri! And when I'm not preoccupied being a Hylian, I like to be a Linoone in my spare time. So, since I'm most certainly considered a noob at this point, I think I'll make myself known in the Grotto, as suggested.
I guess I'll start with Pokemon. I've been a fan since Pokemon itself was still young. I was six years old when Red and Blue version were released in America. It was kind of the final push into nerd-dom for me. :3 I had Pokemon Blue Version. And I remember it being the worst thing in the world when I was face to face with Articuno and I was told my box was full! Ah youth. xD
My very first Pokemon card was a Horsea, that somebody gave me when I was in second or third grade, I think. I've still got it tucked safely away in my card binder, which has since filled itself with a plethora of other Pokemon, both old and new, that I collect casually. You can see the gaps in the pages get wider as the generations progress.
Well, Gold Silver Crystal came out in 2000, when I was eight years old, but I never acquired a copy because I was ENTIRELY too busy saving Hyrule from Ganondorf. (And working up the courage to fight redeads, which just so happen to scare me badly enough to make me forever afraid of Zombies and other dead things.)
Then the Hoenn region in 2003. Glory, a region of Pokemon for me! The Hoenn region is still today my favorite. And I hope to see a re-done ten year adversary edition of this in three years. :3 It spawned some of my very favorite Pokemon, including precious Linoone, and the berry system that was simply fantastic. And the secret bases were the kicker. Best. Idea. Ever. Too bad it wasn't reused with it's proper shine. I went to living in a magnificent patch of grass right in front of a berry garden that overlooked a pond with rolling clouds overhead, to living in the dirt in a corner of the underground. The plush and grassy carpet beneath my feet became rocks. And the unseen Keckleon that lazily patrolled my door became unseen traps in the floor that flung me further and further from my precious home. As you can tell, I wasn't a fan of the underground. The constant flow of heart scales was nice, but that was about it. I had no problems pick-pocketing Luvdiscs that were plentiful in the Hoenn seas. Diamond Version really left me with a longing for a more fun Pokemon game. Well my Diamond version was lifted from me, which honestly wouldn't have been such a great loss if the thief hadn't also taken my DS, my precious Ruby version, and my very favorite Pokemon game of all time, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time.
PMD2 is, hands down, THE GREATEST Pokemon game I have ever played. I believe only two video games have ever had a powerful enough story to make me cry. PMD2 was one of them. Come the end of the game, I was crying so hard I couldn't see the screen. For those of you that haven't played it, I won't ruin it for you. Just go out and get yourself a copy. DO IT! Majora's Mask was the only other game that was capable of making me cry. And it holds a place of honor as my favorite game of all time, and probably the best game ever created, in my opinion.
Anyways, I got a new DS recently, and Pokemon Heart Gold. I'm totally in love with this game, and have been playing it non-stop since I got it. I stroll through yellow forest with my Pokemon regularly, and I'm an avid Pokemon breeder.
I'm already excited for Pokemon Black and White, and the release of the 3DS. I plan on getting both.
Alright. This post is already WAAAAAY too long, so I'll leave you with my HG friend Code: 3009 0372 9742
Wifi with me sometime. :3
Well... There's loads of straight roads that need to be run, and round objects that aren't going to collect themselves, so ciao for now! ♥
