Hi, I was just wondering what you think about the way the drawers are making the girls look in the anime. I think they are making the main girl characters look too old. Dawn is 10 years old and when you look at her she has a body of somebody 14 or 15. Same for Misty and May. And the wierd thing is, they make them the same height as Ash who's probally 4 or 5 years older than Dawn. What do you think? It might be just me that thinks this...

No, Ash is still 10 year old as Dawn is. Which mean they drawing ALL main characters older. And not only main characters.

Though their physical appearance does not change, their mental age most likely increases. Dawn looks mostly like a 10-year-old and Misty most definitely, though I think she would be slightly older than Ash. I agree with you about May looking too old though.

Dawn and May are both slightly shorter than Ash. Dawn looks very 10-year-old to me, and May looks like a 10-year-old mostly if you ignore the boobies, and even then, haven't you people heard of early developers?

As far as I'm concerned, it's Misty who never looked 10-year-old. She says she's 10 in the first episode, and I'm inclined to believe her, but she definitely looks older. She could definitely be 10 going on 11 (she's been a Pokemon trainer far longer than Ash), but even then it seems too old... there's a reason people thought she was 12 for ages.

Girls develop earlier and faster than guys. And plus, girls are developing much earlier these days too.

Plus who really cares. Its an anime. Their not gonna look exactly their age.

I think the reason why Misty looks older is because in the game red & blue version she was a gym leader. They kept the same looks for her and put her in the anime show as a main character and only said she was 10. Can gym leaders even be 10 years old?

Misty says she's 10 in the Japanese version of "Ash captures a Caterpie."

Bugsy, Liz and Tate and Sumomo are all about 10 or 11, same as the protagonist in the game. In the anime, you also have Forrest, who was younger than Ash during that first gym battle, and is now leader of the Pewter Gym.

I don't remember that being a birthday, I just remember it being the anniversary of the start of his journey. I doubt he started on his birthday, because that would mean 4 kids in the same tiny little town were all born on the same day.

Not true. Has anyone seen that Ash had a birthday on the pokemon short for the third movie?

It weren't birthday. It were anniversary. Plus, movies and shorts have no influence to series itself. Pokémon is ageless Anime, that's the fact.

No, they do. Mewtwo fighting Gary and then blowing up the place, the twerps mentioning seeing a Lugia in the Orange Islands, and references to La Rousse City and Professor Lund, for example. ^^;

Yeah, all the starting trainers look a bit too old. :x

Ono's series identifies Misty as being 12, that's probably where people get it from.

off-topic, I just gotta say I really liked his black-haired Kasumi. Why the fuck did he suddenly change the design to resemble her game/anime counterpart? -_-

yeah, chances are there's some kind of registration process or something that we never see. Although, I do recall it sounded as though Satoshi, Haruka, and Hikari all turned ten fairly recently (just nothing saying it was the exact date of their birthday), so if there was some process, it must not've taken very long (though I will have to check up on his dialog in the Japanese version, can you really see Satoshi saying "And now that I'm 10..." six months or so after the fact?).

It's not really fact as it hasn't been proven.
Except by deductive reasoning. Ash stated at the beginning of the series that he is ten years old. At the beginning of AG, which takes place at least three years later according to canon, May says that she is ten years old. The official website says that Ash and May are the same age. The only way this is possible is if the characters are ageless in the "normal" timeline of the series (ie flashbacks don't count).

Isn't Pokemon supposed to be ageless anime? And since when did age matter anyway? Ash always looks the same age with the girl he's travelling with at the moment.I haven't seen any difference between Ash or May or Dawn.
