Manga "Giratina and the Sky Warrior" Review Thread

MY GOD. The art in this is HORRIFIC. Zero actually has two eyes!

Otherwise, the only real info in it is that Megaliba's english name is Megarig, and the smaller ship is named Mecha Giratina.

The story in this version is actually better than the movie's.

I actually liked the manga version a bit more than the movie itself.

I've only seen the movie RAW in Japanese, so I'm not sure what the dub was like yet. I did like the translations, so everything made more sense to me after looking at the film. (I liked Shaymin's speech patterns in the manga, which I caught onto from watching the film. Those worked very well.)

The art wasn't as appealing as the anime was, but I liked the addition of added background info that wasn't in the film (like more about Zero himself and the names of the Mechs he used). It did follow the film rather closely, I will admit. The cover is HORRID BAD, but the rest is rather nice.

I only read it in the bookstore (LOL), but I'd probably buy it later on.

And does it leave out the part where he's rescued? There was someone on Serebii who had read the manga and was very worried because they thought he died, because it was missing that scene.

I don't remember much, but . . .

I think it does leave that part out about Zero post-battle. It seems that he's dead, but I'll have to reread it to make sure I'm stating the facts . . . or buy it once I get more money. XD

I saw the book yesterday...and I swear...this is how the conversation went:

Me: *sees the Giratina manga* Oh no! This is out!
Ally: What? What's wrong?
Me: The art in this book is horrendous. *Shows him*
Ally: Are you going to buy it?
Me: ...I think I have to.

I am so turned off on this book just because of the art. It's hideous...I mean, I will buy it...but...damn, it's just so awful.

The flashbacks with Newton and Zero are expanded. It shows that Newton was at least a bit opposed to copying Giratina's power from the start, and during the Megarig deletion scenes, Zero was shown actually shoving Newton to the ground, then crying hysterically about how he hates the real world because people 'polluted it.'

I must get a scan of the Chapter 3 art page. Seriously, Zero looks like he needs Joker paint on it.

As for the ending, when Mecha Giratina is destroyed, Zero is shown crying madly inside it, then suddenly passing out. He's not seen again after that. Sure looks like he died.

Sounds like Zero needs to join Team Galactic. Or at least get in a fight with Cyrus. That would be awesome, actually (especially since Zero has a pokemon that only evolves in Mt Coronet).

If Newton was against it from the start, wouldn't he have been able to do something about it? Given that, you know, he was the head of the lab and Zero's superior?

And gah, shades of NotJiri. At least we know for a fact the real ones survive, and that's what's important.

NotJiri? Is that the Jiri from the manga adaptation of the second movie where he, like Zero, appears to be killed off?

Yeah, it's what the people on WareWaCollector have taken to calling him. We tried to think of a name name, but NotJiri was the best suited. And lol he was so OOC, oh man. Granted I'm going off the art alone, but that's enough. And...it's odd because people I know who can read it haven't translated it, but the text must support that because they're all "Holy SHIT is he OOC".
