Basically a place to clear up a rumor I heard, which is that there are copies of the Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald series that have been officially translated into English availible here in the United States. Is this true and if so, where could I buy them?

Never heard of this. I seriously think it is a hoax. What the U.S is getting though, is Pokemon D/P Adventure (not the Special), I have no clue where you got the RSE info from (link please?).

Yet I hope this is real, for it would be pretty awesome to buy volumes at a bookstore and not read scans online :p.

it is in english in singapore, not the USA. Look on eBay.

seriously... I do a lot of pirating myself (who on the internet doesn't, really?), and I'd even say it's a bit understandable to do since being a legitimate otaku is one hell of an expensive hobby. Still, it's hardly something I'm proud of, and it's definitely not something I'd be so willing to boast about (since I've been employed these last couple of years, though, I've been buying quite a shitload of DVDs).

I think of pirated goods like a sampler--see what you like, and when you can, buy it legit. But to go out of your way to say that you'll never buy it because you "already have it"--which you DON'T--shows you're not nearly as much of a fan as you think you are.

I definitely have pirating double standards, but I at least buy most of my manga and some movies when released. (Some of the releases just are not made to be purchased, which is why I don't mind watching dubs on TV) I don't think Pirating is something to be proud of, but I know why some are...

that said, is the Singapore Special actually an official release anyways? I don't believe purchasing bootlegs is something to be proud of either.

Chuang Yi.

They are indeed a legitimate company with the rights to distribute the manga...in Singapore. They do not ship anywhere else because they only have the license for the manga within Singapore. Which is why we have to go to such extreme measures to get it.

If I had a job, or money, I would buy a hellaofa lot shit. DVDs Manga, toys, everything. But I don't. So I pirate and buy what I think is the best.
But pirating isn't cool when you flaunt and make your self seem like an ass-hole.

Then, why doe Pokemon Adventures are like sold in every National Bookstore (a name of a very famous bookstore here) here in the Philippines, then? XP (is gloating because she has Volumes 15-26 legitimately)

I don't think it's Singapore alone... it must be for South-East Asia when it comes to distribution.

Or maybe the Philippines acquired the permission and made distribution agreements with Chuang-Yi. XP

Just some theories in my mind.
