This is probably a subject which has been
discussed before but I give it a try.

So far I have seen like 270 episodes of the anime
on my computer (there I take them chronological), and some on TV.

But I never read the Manga, but I read that in the Manga the
Pokémon can actually die, and that sound cool I guess.

I don't know where to find the manga, but you guys can
probably help me?

- So what's your thought's about the Manga VS Anime perspective?
- What do you like the most?
- Is the manga worth reading?
- Is the story the same? If not, how?

tl;dr: Manga VS. Anime

First of all, there's dozens of mangas, so calling it "the" manga is not enough to describe it.

Please, tell us which manga you are referring to.

Plus, don't let this get into a bashing thread, or it will be closed.

No, there are over 700+ episodes of the anime IIRC.

I'm assuming you're referring to "PokeSpe". Please don't call it "the manga", there are various other Pokemon Manga in the world, you could be referring to Pokemon ReBurst for example. Try to be specific and say "Pokemon Adventures" or "Pokemon Special".

I don't know where to find the manga, but you guys can

Viz Media translate Pokemon Special and sells it here in America under the name of "Pokemon Adventures". You can find various copies online via Amazon, or you could try the manga section of your local bookstore or library. Books-A-Million for example sells PokeSpe here in my area.

- So what's your thought's about the Manga VS Anime perspective?
What perspective?

- What do you like the most?
I like the plot as well as the interesting twist in the story line and how each trainer has a defining trait or story behind them.

- Is the manga worth reading?
I'd say so. If you're so curious about the story line and plot we have a thread on other peoples' opinions of it.

- Is the story the same? If not, how?
The same to what?

tl;dr: Manga VS. Anime
More like too short;did read :p I don't agree with "Manga VS. Anime" arguments in particular, they get a tad too....how do you say, "immature". Not a shot at anyone, but people usually hear that a Pokemon passes away in PokeSpe and goes all "OMGFODMADFG BETTER THAN THE ANIME" without either reading it or understanding the genre behind it. Pokemon Anime is staying the way it is, and I quite personally don't have a problem with that. Death does not equal good story.

I find the Pokemon Special manga a little bit better than the anime, personally.

There feels like greater character development in that manga, and I LOVE how it switches around main characters, instead of just leaving us stuck with Ash like we shall eternally be with the anime. And I get a bit tired of all the filler in the anime.

The art has been really nice since the mid-G/S/C chapters, which I find to be more eye-pleasing than in the anime.

Of course, this is all just opinion, but that's my take on it.

Also, though, comparing the manga and anime are like comparing apples to oranges. They aren't the same thing, nor do they try to be. It's best if you think of them as much like two separate things as possible, to fully appreciate both.

Pokemon manga is much better than the anime, just in the fact that Red is 10 times better than Ash and that the history and timeline acctually make sense (Red acctually grows up, he is not 10 for 15 years) pluse the plot is well thought and the characters have much more intresting story's

I like the anime much better than the manga. I've tried reading the manga, but I got bored after a little while. I like seeing things in animation, and that's the way it'll always be. I like Ash and the other characters in the anime.

Why are you saying no? I just told you how many episodes I have seen this far. D'oh.

Ok, I just read a little from the Pokémon Adventures,
but is Pokémon Special based on the same story as the anime or what?

Like, an adaptation? No, they're two different stories based off the Pokemon games.

There are some other manga based on the anime, though, but not Adventures.

Ok. I think it's Pokémon special I'm reading. The files are named Pokemon Adventures but in the pictures it says Special.
It might be the same?

I kinda like Red's adventure. He meets the same persons as Ash and stuff.

and Misty is sexy in this manga :D

It is. Special is the original Japanese name for the series.

Ok. thanks.

Now I know that I'm reading the adventure of Red and it's Pokémon Special.

It's really exciting.

But is there a manga with Ash's story? I'm just curious.

I like the anime most but yep the manga is deffinatly worth reading. It is oftennot the same stories but it depence, the films are avalible on manga.

[PLEASE NOTE: The specific manga I'm talking about is Pocket Monsters Special by Hidenori Kusaka. Author of topic did not mention a specific manga for pokemon, so I chose this one.]

Manga VS Anime:
I think the Manga is better, because it is much better written than the anime, in my opinion, and the storyline is more serious than the anime's. I think the current Pokemon Show is aimed mainly at younger kids, while the manga is aimed at an older audience. Ash has been 10 for over 15 years, and it's strange, and... creepy. I like the fact that in PokeSpecial the characters can actually AGE. The story also changes with the regions and games, also changing protagonists instead of using the same ones over and over, keeping the story interesting. One of the most interesting arcs for would be The first part of the Hoenn arc (Ruby and Sapphire games). I'm not going to spoil it for anyone though. ^^ FRLG was also very interesting too, but if anyone is going to read this story, it's best to read it in order because it makes no sense at all if you don't.

Is the Manga worth reading?: YES. Definitely.

Excuse me, but I'd like to point out a few things.

No, both are aimed at children. Just because Adventures seems more violent does not mean it's aimed at an older audience.

Ash has been 10 for over 15 years, and it's strange, and... creepy. I like the fact that in PokeSpecial the characters can actually AGE.

There are dozens of cartoon shows that have lasted years and the main characters do not age. It's very common, really.

MANGA(well, PokeAdventures) TOTALLY KICKS anime's butt. Giving my reasons:
1. Characters change each region, not a single character..
2. Characters actually grow up and they are not Peter Pan fellas.
3. Villians actually plan to kill the protagonists(mask of ice, agatha, archie)
4. ZERO kiddish plot
5. Bloody scenes (Koga's Golbat and Ruby Dragon Clawed).
6. Pokemon get to die (Pryce's Lapras and Koga's Arbok).
AND MANY INFINITE REASONS WHY

1 - That happens in the anime.
3 - That happens in the anime.
4 - They follow the plot of the games, which are for kids. So, they are indeed kiddish.
6 - That happens in the anime. (And Arbok never died.)

If you mean the Pokémon Special manga, I'd say the manga is better because most characters show development and overall it's got a more interesting plot. The anime is mostly made up of fillers, but there are some anime-exclusive characters that are pretty awesome, so I like it a lot better. Just introducing Paul was enough to make me love it more than the manga. And I love some battles in the anime which I enjoy a lot more animated than just in small squares. Ash vs Paul wouldn't have been nearly as epic in manga. But I read it too, it's awesome. I only read the R/B/G and Yellow chapters, though. Red's such an awesome character.

Oh, and in reply to ASH_HATER_999:
1. Has happened, the only ones who don't get replaced are Ash and Pikachu. The majority of the main characters are replaced.
2. Won't argue with this. This is just the way most TV shows for kids work.
3. Happens in the anime. Pokémon Hunter J, one of the most badass villains, attempted to kill Ash a couple of times.
4. What do you mean? The manga is still for kids! Doesn't mean you can't enjoy it, but the manga is also aimed at kids. The plot isn't really that complex...
5. Well, there has only been blood in the anime like 2 times, so I can't argue with this. And it was just a little scratch by a Zangoose one time.
6. Happens in the anime. Lucario, Latios, Pokémon Hunter J, her Pokémon, all her men, and all their Pokémon. Of course, they never actually said that she died, but how much clearer can it be? Not even Ash survives drowning and an explosion.

1. But Ash never changes, and the reasons the females are changed is for fanservice, not character development.
3. It does? I don't recall a villain ever going so far as to openly attempt to murder the main characters.
4. Being for kids isn't exactly the same thing as "kiddish". The games are intended for all audiences anyway, which again, is not the same.

1. He DOES change... he looks younger now XD
3. Yes, it does. Pokémon Hunter J is the one I remember the most. She ordered Salamance to fire a Hyper Beam directly at Ash after trapping him in a burning forest. She might have tried something else, but I can't remember. Of course, she never says she wants to kill him, but how much more obvious can you make it? Most villains don't go that far.
And in her last actual appearance (she reappears in a flashback) she, her Pokémon, and all her men are killed. Or at least they're dead until proven otherwise. Not even Ash can survive what happened to them.
