For me and Minimag!

Maple the Fox was in the forest. She sat under a tree, thinking hard. Her Dad abused her. He did so ever since her mom divorced her dad.
Her dad had started drinking and became really stressed after that, and took his anger out on Maple. Maple had many cuts and bruises, and never was happy. She sighed, and got up, bumping into someone.

Mike the hare was looking for some carrots in the forest. He then saw a peculiar creature, under a tree, and went up to it.

He sat down in front of them, and waited for them to respond...

Maple saw Mike. ''Hello,'' Maple said quietly. She grew nervous and shy, as she always did when she met someone new.

Mike jumped back.

Mike was scared of Maple's teeth.

Mike quietly responded "H-h-h-ello?"

''Don't worry,'' She said, ''I won't hurt you. It's more likely I'll get hurt more than anyone else ever will.'' she sighed sadly.

Mike was confused.

"What are you talking about? Don't you want to eat me?"

She shook her head. ''I don't eat animals like you,'' she said.

''I promise,'' she said. ''I get hurt myself more....than I hurt other animals.''

"W-w-what? What do you mean you get hurt more than you hurt other animals?", replied Mike.

''My parents abuse me,'' she replied in a shaky voice.

"They don't love you?" Mike said.

"But, but, they are your parents!"

Mike stood still, wondering what to do.

He then said "But they must be so big and scary..."

She shrugged. ''In a way, I guess they are.''
