Don't see the point really. There are more entertaining things you can do with a clear mind than a slaughtered one.

My philosophy's always been "do what you want, just leave me alone." People want to smoke it, go ahead, just don't blow it in my face or drive near me. I'm for legalization, but mostly to see what happens as a result. My guess is: Not a lot.

While I have no interest in doing it personally, I have no qualms with people that do. I don't see it as being as harmful and scary as people make it out to be.

In my city they have commercials for marijuana stores right on network TV. I mean it's illegal and all, but just nobody cares, it's Portland. My favorite one was this one where these guys are sitting around a smoke filled room and they're really obviously stoned and they keep going "Whaaaat? Whaaaat?" and at the end one of them pulls this huge clock out of nowhere and holds it up with this goofy look on his face and the time is 4:20.

Anyways yeah it should be legal, people should have the freedom to do it if they want to, it's obviously no worse than alcohol and there's no real reason for it to be illegal.

It really is no worse than alcohol. I've known too many families and lives ruined by alcohol and none ruined by smoking pot. My old friends aren't good examples of this, but I know many many people who smoke and they can still go to work and act normally. I think that has to do with just how much you smoke and knowing how much is too much for you. It's a personal thing. And no one I've known that smokes pot is violent or crazy about getting more. They don't usually even leave the house while high, don't get in cars, etc.

So, yes, it should be legalized. The only time it does any kind of harm is if people abuse it, but the pros far outweigh the cons, in my experience and opinion.

(I need to see that commercial, Chaos XD)

The problem seems to be that marijuana alleviates certain symptoms of diseases (notably multiple sclerosis and dementia) but it also can conceivably lead to developing psychotic symptoms later in life.

^New Scientist magazine has done many articles on the subject.

I'm not sure which article you're trying to point to, I see the top story is "alcohol, not drugs, poses biggest date rape risk."

I've not seen any evidence that marijuana causes you to develop "psychotic symptoms" o_O I thought that was some old propaganda they passed around in the 60s that turned out not to be true.

Though it could be argued that being an alcoholic causes people to act pretty psycho. There's also the fact that marijuana isn't even addictive and alcohol is.

Marijuana isn't addictive? That's not what I grew up hearing. When did they change it?

They never "changed" it, it's never been addictive o_O Not physically addictive anyways, of course it could be mentally addictive just like anything else in the entire world.

I did a random search for marijuana, and came up with a cache of articles concerning both marijuana and alcohol.

If you'd have scrolled down the list of articles, I believe there's some new information on that subject as recently as mid-2005.

Sometimes. Some alcoholics aren't violent at all.

My view is be consistant - either legalize it or make alcohol and tobacco illegal.

Meh. Smoking weed alters the chemical balance in the brain, and to put it simply...causes said person to become a retard. I'm against it. I happen to know someone who's part of the, uh...organized business...to sell that sh*t. He himself said that he'd never do it; he has to deal with people who use it constantly, and he says that they aren't the most impressive-looking people he's come across.
