I'll be creating a fanfic called Mario_email.exe. It will feature emails sent to Mario from real people, easter eggs and means of accessing them, references, goofs, and plenty of hijinxs on the DVD! It will be shown in the style of Homestarrunner's Wikipedia, with the transcript first, easter eggs and means of accessing them second, references third, goofs fourth, glitches fifth, and DVD Version is always last!

Trailer

Mario_email.exe promo gives the exposition of what's to come.

Cast: (in order of appearance) Mario, Announcer

Places: The Computer Room, The Basement

Transcript:

Mario: Coming up next is...

(an email appears from Daveyson)

Announcer: Mario_email.exe, the show answering real emails from real people! (a shot of the basement is shown) Send your emails to the address shown below...

([email protected] appears onscreen)

Announcer: ...and your email could be featured in the next episode of Mario_email.exe!

(an email appears from Quazafreak99 about how to get an email featured on Mario_email.exe)

Mario: (typing) Make sure you go through revision and proofreading before sending the email to me! I'm a neatfreak when it comes to grammar!

Announcer: Mario_email.exe has loads of easter eggs in store, references galore, and yes, even Mario's not perfect when it comes to typing what he says, so there are goofs and glitches that may sneak their way into the email! (we see a card reading "coming to a Bulbagarden forum near you") Mario_email.exe is coming to a Bulbagarden forum near you!

Emails that appear in the trailer:

Dear Mario,

What email is the best in your opinion?

Daveyson

Emails in progress that are shown in the trailer:

Dear Mario,

How do I get an email featured on your show?

Quazafreak99

] You've got to think about what you want to say, and I accept long emails too, but please vary your syntax. Also, make sure you go through revision and profreading before sending the email to me. I'm a neat freak when it comes to grammer.

Easter Eggs:

Click on "coming soon" to see three sample emails. You can click to cycle through them.

The three sample mails read:

Dear Mario,

What is the weirdest thing that ever happened?

John Coral

Dear Mario,

Did you fall off a bike as a kid?

Sincerely,

Louis

Dear Mario,

What will your email show be like?

Max Peyton

Goofs:

Mario misspells grammar as grammer and proofreading as profreading.

The sample email easter egg is still there but you have to click on the Mario head in the top right corner to access it, and the emails cycle through automatically with Mario reading them aloud, and answering them orally.

DVD Email Transcript:

Mario: Hello guys, I'll be reading some emails that you guys have sent in and I'll be very courteous to answer! I like to call these emails sample emails. If you send a sample email, I'll only answer it orally. Here we go. Ahem. (reads the first email) Well John, it all depends on what you were talking about. If I found a Pikachu, I would say hello! OK, next email. (reads the second email) Well, as I always say Louis, once you learn to ride a bike, you never forget, though I have fallen off a few times while learning. (reads the final email) What will my email show be like you ask? You just send me an email and I read it, pointing out any and all errors along the way. Then I answer your email. So it's a simple process! If there's something you don't understand, send me an email and I'll explain it to you again! OK, that's enough for now. Join me next time when I prepare to answer your emails!

There are also French and Spanish Subtitles for the Sample emails. These Subtitles only show up when a sample email is shown and being read.

French Subtitles:

Quelle est de chose la plus étrange qui s'est jamais produite ?

Random emails from readers do not, I repeat do not make a fanfiction. Plot and characterization do. You need to come up with a storyline that involves emails being sent back and forth between characters. If I don't see that within the next couple of days, I'm closing this as it serves no real purpose.

I was thinking of a plot that involved email between both characters and real people. How would that work, Barb?

It could work if you wanted to do a "choose your own ending" type of story. However, you need a basic plot to begin with, and not just have each chapter consist of a real person's email with Mario's response.

What type of story are you developing: romance, comedy, action, drama? Start with that, add your characters (Mario being the protagonist), and maybe have the readers send emails that determine Mario's actions in the next chapter. For example, "What is the weirdest thing that ever happened [to you]?" would be a great opportunity to do a comedic chapter with Mario. It could be in realtime or in a flashback, whichever you choose.

Your story needs substance. We can't read a story online the same way we watch a DVD.

OK, I'm trying to develop a story that has all the genres.

The characters are Mario and the readers.

You're right, my story does need some substance. This hopefully gives it enough substance!
