To be released in US one month from Today! :kawaii: Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, coming to Western shores soon! Wikipedia doesn't have much info yet, so discuss!

Ponyo Official Website (Japanese, obviously)

Hehe, I have the dvd, let's just say that while this one is very much a children's film, it's going to be amazing on the big screen! The art style is also a little different from usual Miyazaki films, though in other ways the art style is still very Miyazaki.

I just hope that this makes it to more theaters than Howl's Moving Castle did...

If it ain't comin to Arizona I'll smash their heads till there is [censor]A brain surgeon, ambulance, police to arrest me, and a miracle to save them[/censor]!!!!!!

I look forward to seeing it though. Maybe Imax?

OMG I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE. O_O

I love Miyazaki's movies. My favorites are Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Sky and Kiki's Delivery service. <3 Also, Nausicaa. :D Oh! Don't forget My Neighbor Totoro, that one was really cute. :D

I saw it in wiki once and I've been waiting for it too. I'm hoping to see it when it comes here. <3

Wait... it's coming HERE to imax? fricken, sweet. I'd love to get my mom to see it because she'd like these movies I bet.

Hehe, I saw two of those flyers at the movie theater coming out of the bathroom yesterday when I went to see Harry Potter. <3 One of them was in those frame holders, and another was a huge poster near the ceiling. It was funny, I totally flipped out when I saw it; I said, "Hey look Mom, a new Miyazaki movie!"

It's safe to say that it'll be coming to my movie theater. And if it doesn't, then I'll be really sad since it looks like another very cute movie from Miyazaki. It's odd though, Ponyo (if that is his name on the poster) reminds me a little of Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle...

I don't know if it's coming to Imax, I'm just hoping...

You know what I don't like? The American wiki called Miyazaki a "femenist". They've said that svereal times. They say it's all because of this continuing "female protagonist" thing which is continuing with Ponyo.

I don't know if it's coming to Imax, I'm just hoping...

It would be nice if it did. However, I have feeling it will only go in Imax in Japan. Anime movies, even Miyazaki's films don't usually go into theatres as much as I'd enjoy them to be. :<

I highly doubt that I'd be able to see it on the theaters. I just recently went a few weeks ago, so I cannot.

I'd probably just try to see it later on DVD. (Even though I saw a fan-sub selling on Little Tokyo LA) @_@

The main poster I see has Ponyo on it, and Ponyo's a girl.

Just to clear up some confusion as to who is who (and for some decent pics):

In spoiler tags because these are somewhat large images since they're dvd snapshots.

This is Sosuke, he is the main character in this movie. His design was based on Miyazaki's son iirc.

This is Ponyo the goldfish.

This is Ponyo after turning into a human.

The art kind of reminds me of the movie My Neighbor Totoro.

Personally, I am very interested to see the reaction of the people on this forum who go see this movie. This is a very different film, and while I find it to be a work of art, I wonder how others will find it to be.

my mom is a huge Miyazaki fan so ive heard of this and if its in a theater anywhere near here ill probably get dragged to it...

im not a huge fan of Miyazaki's more recent films, actually. the last one i really liked was Princess Mononoke. i was kinda disappointed when i found out how young of an audience this is intended for... id love it if Miyazaki went back to doing adventure films like Nausicaa, Laputa or Castle of Cagliostro again, since they are enjoyable for all ages :p

I have been waiting for this so long... Cate Blanchett plus Tina Fey equals win.
Check my blog for more of my thoughts on this. (Shameless self-promotion FTW!)

So yeah, I've been seeing a lot of Ponyo English Dub Commercials on TV lately. @3@

Nice! If there's heavy promotion like that, maybe it will get a better theater release than Howl's Moving Castle.

Just saw the trailer. I'm so excited! It comes out the day before I have to leave for college too, so that's just going to make it even better. ^^

Okay, it's out in theaters tomorrow! I have myself two tix reserved already (one for me, one for my sis). Who else is planning to see the Ponyo dub tomorrow?

Me, if I can somehow squeeze it in somewhere in the midst of packing up for college. >_<
