Lady Bullseye? Yawn. New Kraven? Now there's something I'm interested in. And by the interview, it seems to fit into the overall idea of the reboot well.

New female villians for well-established characters that don't have too many female villians = good.

New villians which are "remakes" of classic villians = sometimes it works, but most of the time, no.

http://community.livejournal.com/scans_daily/5604413.html explains the problem with trying to introduce new villains nicely.

It's an over-generalization, though. Morg was...Morg. You can draw as big a connection between him and Terrax as you can between Unus and Unuscione. The Spidey Doppelganger was a leftover from an event where EVERY hero got an evil doppelganger as part of a larger diversionary tactic by Magus (who was the evil half of Adam Warlock given life), and he was killed a couple of years later and hasn't been seen since. And the "bad design" category just seems like a catch-all for any villain the writer doesn't like. And Swarm was a unique concept that hasn't been duplicated since. Yes, he's a bit of a joke, but he's a fun villain.

Besides, for every "bad" villain, there's at least one good villain. From the obvious (depending on who's writing him, admittedly) Magneto and Brubaker- or Gruenwald-written Red Skull to lesser-knowns like Matthew Risman or Killer Shrike.

I'm not going to defend the likes of Lady Bullseye or Lady Octopus, but that link is a bit of an over-generalization. You can reduce ANY villain to its base components and throw it in one of those categories. The mark of a GOOD villain is how well they're written, and ANY villain can be written well (whether they HAVE been is another matter).

"Then we bounced it off Joe Q. and he dug it, too"

*SIGH*

So thats DD screwed as well then.

Whats next? Sentinals with boobs?

I really want to interject my opinion in an inteligible way, but, i can't actually find the words. The direction that Quesada is taking Marvel at the moment and, to be honest, the whole "Post Civil War" Marvel U at teh moment is really making me despair.

The problem isn't the gimmicks in the article so much as relying on those gimmicks and nothing else to develop the character, as with the cases of Conduit, Doomsday, Morlun, etc.

This isn't exactly Anti-Venom, but for anyone who ever liked Bullseye...buckle your seatbelts and get ready for...Lady Bullseye.

And, yes, ANOTHER Kraven. Only THIS TIME...it's a girl. Wonder what the other Kravens would think?

Wonder if this means that Lady Octopus will be returning? Or Scorpia. Or, with Anti-Venom, maybe we can get a new She-Venom.
Flip-gender villains and heroes-into-sidekicks are only created so guys can safely wank over their favorite characters without looking gay. Or that's my rational.

...However, Lady Octopus and Scorpia? Smokin' hott. Wish they'd been the originals. *can't be part of the statistic; is still female*

Alright, that's fair enough. Though that can mostly be blamed on the comics boom of the 90s (and, am I wrong, or are we entering a new boom?). Too many people wanting too many comics. Shit gets through too easily. But the characters can be redeemed (though most writers don't seem to want to take that task). Though, as a general rule, creating an evil/female/clone/whatever of a character IS usually a bad idea, there's always the hope that they'll be redeemed (Lady Bullseye isn't too appealing to me, but I have confidence in Brubaker. Too bad I'm not a Daredevil fan...).

I forget alot about the origional Kraven. Didn't he origionaly have a wife/girlfriend? If so, is it possible she took the crazy animal potion thing?

Yes. She was her own character, crazy evil female Kraven. But she had he own codename, Calypso. The potion drove her nuts.
