Marvel's 2008 event has now been named. That name? Secret Invasion. Not TOO MUCH by way of new info, but there is some:

Source.

Will we see the real Elektra anywhere? Brevoort: "That's a good question. You'll have to wait awhile until Secret Invasion." He added that fans will see the Skrull Elektra body in Illuminati #5. "It's all coming, but not for a little while yet."

A fan asked the panel to settle a debate: "Jessica Jones' baby is a Skrull, right?" Brevoort: "We never said that... Wait and see."

What is the future of the Avengers after World War Hulk? Brevoort: "It's very much like where it is now. It's going to be building up the paranoia and stress of the Skrull invasion. He mentioned the Hood's going to be putting together his power base and fighting, and of course the Avengers title will be affected by Secret Invasion.

Will Thor be joining the Avengers? Brevoort: In Issue #3 of Thor, "that will give you the first inkling of where Thor will sit in the Marvel Universe. I can tell you for sure he'll be part of Secret Invasion."

So, basically, nothing really new. I bet Thor and the Hood are Skrulls. And the Beyonder's a mutant-Inhuman-Skrull.

The secret reveal is that EVERYONE's a Skrull and what we thought was 616 Earth is really the Skrull Homeworld, where everyone was trained to replace all humans on Earth, but the training was so intense that they forgot they weren't Earthlings in the first place - and thus never left for the invasion.

Actually...that already happened. Only the story ended with Galactus eating the planet. Ahhh, one can hope.

Gotta bump this back up with new info.

Brian Bendis said:
Whoever is a Skrull is revealed right away, their plan is revealed and executed and things are left changed. Once you find out who’s a Skrull and who’s not, you’ll see that it’s impossible to put things back the way they were.

Secret Invasion is an 8-part series, with (of course) tie-ins.

BB: No – we actually rewind the clock and show the story. So if there’s a character on the team who’s a Skrull, we will rewind from when they got on that team, or from before they got on that team, so when they infiltrated, how they became who they became and the affects of their actions from their point of view.

NRAMA: Nick Fury?

BB: A huge return. We’ll show exactly where he’s been and what he’s been doing since Secret Wars.

NRAMA: How old is the oldest piece in this? How far does this particular storyline go back?

BB: I had approval of this, not knowing what shape it would end up in – it’s own mini or an Avengers storyline – during Avengers: Disassembled. That’s how long it’s been going. The first piece of the puzzle shows itself in New Avengers #1. One of the issues of Avengers during the miniseries will show you that scene from the other angle.

We’ve got to show everything, and we’ve got so many stories to tell afterwards that there’s no reason to rag things out. If we’re doing this, we have to say, “This is it - Secret Invasion, beginning, middle and end. Done.” And it’s a hell of an end.

Was Maria Hill put in charge of SHILED so that she would screw things up or miss something important? Now, knowing this is coming, these questions start to get more interesting.

There are hints in Secret War - the transcription of Maria Hill’s introduction to the President in the back of one of the issues. That’s worth a re-read.
