This thread is a place to to basically look at one character and figure out other ones on the forum they could have a decent romantic pairing with. And then speculate about that. I might write some very casual fan fics of fan fics. Who knows.

Current victim: Kimberly Fairbrooke, Land of the Roses by @Emma Prescott

Because why not start with last award cycles best character to promote this one?

Fan art of her is in Emma Prescott's avatar. Slight character spoilers for Land of the Roses will be ahead. Spoilers for other stories or plot spoilers for Land of the Roses should be marked.

She's a sweet enough 21-year-old young woman with an anxiety problem she prefers to keep hidden. She's big on meditation and spirituality and dislikes having those looked down upon or mocked. Kimberly comes from a wealthy background and is currently traveling the region of Lanark as a coordinator to make her own name, or at least find something she's good at. Results have been mixed so far.

She's a lesbian, and probably can only be paired with characters assigned female at birth according to her author. She's into "confident" people and has, in another life, shown interest in a goth trainer/scientist who saved her life.

Feel free to discuss below.

Starting with two pairings. One blatant self-promotion, one not.

1) Annie from Love and Other Nightmares by @diamondpearl876

Confirmed as at least possibly bisexual by her creator, about the same age (Kimberly's 21, editing into the OP) and she studies psychology. I imagine that gives her some understanding of anxiety and how to work around it. She's also currently on a Mission From God, so dismissing spirituality is pretty much impossible for her. She might even appreciate it if Kimberly could teach her more about the madness she's wound up in the middle of.

Downside: Confident is... not how I would describe her. She has her moments, but for the most part she's the type of person to quietly resent people rather than actively defy them.

2) Madison Colchis from Iterations, by me.

Confirming here that she's bisexual but wary of men and she presents as about the same age as Kimberly. Or could. She's about 3000 years old and can alter her appearance pretty easily. Definitely confident and has shown some ability to empathize with others' struggles. She's also a granddaughter of the sun and a former priestess of Hecate, so she has that. Along with a wealthy upbringing and a quest away from home in her past. And she's goth, which Kimberly has at least shown isn't a turn-off.

Downside:
Kimberly has had an experience with an ancient witch. It wasn't a pleasant experience. Might kill a potential relationship with another one

EDIT: Trying to think of ship names here. This is not my strong-suit.

>mfw after reading "Plot spoilers for LotR" actually spent like 2 minutes trying to figure out what lord of the rings had to do with anything here

I don't have much to contribute, having written about such few characters and read so few of others' fics, but let me try suggesting Alice Juniper from my own TPP stories:

+ into women
+ confident, polite
+ is very big on science, does experiments on the daily
+ mother is prof. Juniper herself

- while knows when to hide it, definitely thinks lowly of spirituality and all that stuff and WILL mock people for it behind their backs
- already has a gf
- daddy issues
- gets very riled up at politics

Yeah, romance is the last thing on Annie's mind. It'd be nice, but she'd be skeptical of the relationship to the bitter end. That's just how she operates.

So I haven't put much thought into her sexuality, but if she's bisexual, she definitely leans more heavily toward men. I always had some plan for Love and Other Nightmares where, in Johto, she'd meet up with Sai very, very briefly in the Ilex Forest (right before the end of the story) and kind of gush over him internally. In hindsight, it'd be terribly OOC and Sai's not particularly "dreamy looking" anyway. But it'd be damn fun to write.

I smell some delicious conflict brewing right here. Crossover Matchmakings when?

It's just for fun. :p

I've caught up on Land of the Roses since my last post, though, and I'd fully support Andrea/Kimberly, sure. xD To me they're the epitome of a couple who realizes each other's strengths and weaknesses, works to improve each other, and comes out better for it.

you wanna be like that do ye

Hey guys why haven't we talked about Josh/Eve as a possible pairing written by our resident lemon author lol

Ohh, so I suppose you're expecting me to reply in the style of Jake Morgandorffer? WELL YOU CAN JUST FORGET IT, PEARL-CHAN! Aaargh, DAMNIT!

All right, all right, even if we were on topic still I'll at least be serious now. :p

The only reason I'd argue against Josh/Eve is if they agree they don't want to be in a relationship because it doesn't feel right or whatever, yet still try to stay together due to societal expectations or perceptions of "if you are intimate, you must be in a relationship" norms. Friends can be intimate, too - albeit in different ways, usually, but that doesn't mean everyone has to follow the same mold.

If we're allowed to post lonely singles for shits and giggles I'm gonna post the most eligible bachelor of my fic.

Name: Isaac Kheel
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Age: 22

Profession: Engineer, Retired Ranger, and self-proclaimed inventor
Interests: dismantling technology, reading, abstract sculpture (metalwork), and pokemon (but pets works too)
preferences in a woman: Breathing and of a similar age

Isaac is hardly the most outgoing person. He's not antisocial, but he'd never want to be the center of attention. If he can he'll tuck himself away to work on a project rather than interact with others. If he is going to be social it's with his small group of friends. He likes the idea of the company of someone quiet and reserved like him who is happy with just spending time together instead of always doing stuff together. A companion who is just as happy sitting at home as they are out and about if not more so.

As for appearance, Isaac is rather average. Brown hair, green eyes, and he has a sort of baby face. He basically never grows facial hair and what little he does he shaves anyway. He's also a little shorter than average at about 5'8". All in all, he's a bit of a dweeb, but he's a nice guy at least.
