I got knocked out in the woods and I need to be rescued. How do I go about this? I know I need to get a code from someone, but where do I enter it when I do?

Also, I've had a Magnemite in my party for a while, and it takes him about average to level up. But then I got a Zigzagoon, and he levels up every other battle just about! What's with the Zigzagoon and why does he level up so fast? Alternately, why does everyone else level up so slowly?

EDIT--Hmm, I'm supposed to have gotten a code for my rescuer to enter, but I didn't! How can I get this code so I can give it to someone else? The only game option I'm getting is to go back to the game by restarting the dungeon, which means I'll lose all my great stuff!

You should be able to access it from your main menu, before you enter the game.

The Zigzagoon is obviously at a lower level than your other Pokemon. The lower the level, the less EXP needed to level up.

All right, someone on LJ saved me. But what does it mean when it says I have 9 rescue chances left? Am I only allowed to do this a finite number of times? Sure wish I'd know that in advance...
 
A finite number of times in that outing. You can be rescued as many times as you like, but in every outing you have set chances before you cannot be rescued.

EDIT: Zigzagoon always levels quickly on my game, too. But this is counterbalanced by the fact that it only gains 1 in each stat per level.
 
Did you take him out of his friend area before the mission? Or did you find him in that outing?
 
If you took him out of the friend area, he'll always stay there until you get rid of him yourself.

You'll find Metapod on Floor 13. You'll need to fight Team Meanies, so beware.
 
Yeah, level up, gather Orans and Revivers, about 2 Max Elixirs, Blast and Sleep seeds work a treat, too.
 
Recruitment tip: Whenever you recruit a Pokemon, if it gets KOed before you exit that dungeon, it's gone from your team. So it's not a bad idea to keep at least one Escape Orb handy at all times, especially if you manage to recruit those harder-to-find Pokemon.
 
That only happened to me once, and it was with a Ratatta. I was able to recruit another one pretty quickly. I really want a Pinsir though.

I started as a hasty Skitty with a Torchic partner. I have a Ratatta, Magnemite, Voltorb, and Zigzagoon.

At what point can they evolve? I know one of the townsfolk said they can't evolve yet, so I'm assuming it's a plot point.

And how do I get my Torchic to do Ember more often?

And what's the point of the Whiscash pond?
 
Pokémon can evolve after the main storyline is finished. You can get a Pokémon to use only a certain attack by selecting "exclusive move user" on its IQ abilities and deselecting every one of its attacks except for the one you want on its attack list. The Whiscash Pond is where you can evolve Pokémon later, and some plot events occur there.
 
Then you'd just make sure all of the attacks you want it to use are selected, but keep "exclusive move user" on.
