Mega Charizard X joins the fray October 24!Mega Charizard X is the latest Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE. Mega Charizard X is separate Unite License from Charizard's regular Unite License. It is a Melee All-Rounder with Beginner difficulty that deals Physical damage. It can Mega Evolve for a short while after using its Unite Move Seismic Slam.

To celebrate the introduction of Mega Evolution Unite licenses, Pokémon UNITE will hold a special event from Friday, October 24th, to Friday, November 14th, in which players can complete designated missions to earn the Unite license for Mega Charizard X. After the event, Mega Charizard X’s Unite license will be available at the Unite Battle Committee shop in exchange for Aeos coins or Aeos gems.

Mega Charizard X is the second of four Mega Evolution Pokémon joining the fray this year, with Mega Lucario having debuted on September 28th and two more Mega Evolved Pokémon debuting by the end of the year. The licenses for these Pokémon will be treated distinctly from regular Unite licenses, allowing two players on the same team will be able to select both Charizard and Mega Charizard X (and potentially even Mega Charizard Y if it's introduced in the game), and so on. Mega Evolution Unite license Pokémon will also be limited to a single fixed moveset, and be limited to two held item slots, with one occupied by the appropriate Mega Stone. Holowear owned by the standard Unite license will be shared with the Mega Evolution Unite license; however, Pokémon will not wear Holowear after Mega Evolving in battle.

Mega Charizard Moves Overview

Move Overview graphic for Mega Charizard X
Mega Charizard X starts off as Charmander, and evolves into Charmeleon at level 5, and then into Charizard at level 7, and can Mega Evolve for a short time after using its Unite Move. As Charizard, it has the ability Solar Power, which increases the damage dealt upon using a move, but at the cost of losing some HP. It can recover the HP on damaging opponents that have been burned by its moves. As Mega Charizard X, its Ability changes to Tough Claws, which gives it a boost counter each time a move hits opponents. When a boost counter is consumed, the next basic attack becomes a boosted attack, and is guaranteed to be a critical hit. This ability also restores HP when basic attack deals damage to opponents that have been burned by its moves.

Mega Charizard X's first move slot consists of Flame Burst, which can upgrade into Fire Punch. Flame Burst attacks opponents with a bursting flame and leaves them burned, and increases the user's movement speed for a while. Fire Punch deals damage with a punch from a fiery fist, shoving opponents and leaving them burned.

Mega Charizard's second move slot consists of Fire Spin, which can upgrade into Flare Blitz. Fire Spin encircles opponents in a vortex of fire, and dealing damage over time and reducing opponents' movement speed. Flare Blitz has the user charge forward while cloaked in fire to throw opponents, and also gain a shield.

Mega Charizard's Unite Move is Seismic Slam, which has the "Sure Hit" effect. The user grabs an opposing Pokémon and slams it into the ground from the air. After using this Unite Move, the user Mega Evolves.
