I figured that I would try making another thread after a while. Use this thread to take about general speculation about the upcoming Mega Dimensions DLC. Please also be wary of spoilers. Otherwise, mods if you think this thread is unnecessary, feel free to terminate it. No skin off of my back.

First prediction is the obvious: the last of the existing megas (Hoenn starters and legends + Mewtwo) returning. Unless they come in a free update to the base game like Diancie did instead. I'm also throwing out Mega Charizard Z yet again, because I still think it would be funny.
What I find most interesting, actually, is the returning mons. Are the additions only new megas, or are we getting a general Lumiose dex expansion? As in, can we expect mega golurk, corviknight, etc. too or are they just here to be here? If we do get some room for general, non-mega additions, I'm hoping for the pawniard line myself. It feels fitting for Kalos and I'd like to get a chance to use Kingambit in a proper game to help solidify my feelings on it, since I skipped ScarVio.

If nothing else, I do appreciate that we are getting a Mega Evolution for a Gen 9 Pokémon as well. With Mega Falinks and Mega Baxcalibur, at the very least, it suggests that we might get more Mega Pokémon from Gen 8 and 9.

putting this in folders JIC.

  1. Ansha is, to get this out of the way, Diantha's relative in some form, and likely to be more important than she lets on.
  2. The residents of Hyperspace Lumiose had taken to cyberspace as a refuge from the rampant overleveled pokemon here, with only a few trainers lingering as opponents for you to fight. Those scant trainers remained there to fight what is essentially a war for survival is they tried to take back their city from the over leveled mons, to varying degrees of success.
  3. Aside from the aforementioned, Team MZ (including Korrina and Ansha) would be the only ones in Hyperspace Lumiose trying to figure out how it came to exist (with Zygarge and Ange Floette's right being a probable cause).
  4. Korrina has a not small chance of going crazy and serving a role similar to Volo
  5. Speaking of which there will eventually be revealed that AZ had encountered the Celestica people
  6. Ansha is not a proepr trainer yet, which means she would not have any mons to defend hersefl besides Hoopa and also means the aformentioend mythicla genie is not techailly "caught", removing ethical issues to the player catching them for theirselves after earning their trust.
  7. The Mayor would end up more relevant to this for reasons unknown, likely responding to the ripples of the distortians. He would end up resigning after this, but in a timeframe that is just outside gameplay.
  8. Clemont awould be revealed to had retired as Gym Leader following XY. He and Bonnie would therefore move out of Lumiose entirely, explainign their absenses. Lumiose is therefore outside the Kalos Leauge circuit.
  9. Korrina would had also retired as Gym Leader for her own quest.

  1. Going off the above. Hyperspace Lumiose is an alternate timeline where Ange had been allowed to fire, this created a world akin to Marvels' Cancerverse, wehre death is no logner a physcial fact. Which also explains why the pokemon there were able to be as powerful as they were becuase they ahd more time to break the 100 level limit. Humans however while aslos immortalzied, had the raw end of the deal sicne they could not fight the wild mons themselves and were still vulnable to severe injury or destrction that bypassess their immortality.
  2. The holograms glitching out is a side effect of this. But they amount to minor obstacles at best.
  3. Pokemon centers remain a thing (just becuase you can't die doens't mean your invurnable, and there needs to be an escuse for healing in gameplay) but they are now fully automated or ran by the now digitized nurses. Basailly they're tantamoutnt to AI doctors now.
  4. Ange is the reason why the DLC mega stones appeared (Baxcalibur's being more ludanarrative dissonance or being the sole exception). Following from Emma's hypothesis that the stones came about from the Ultimate Weapon. This means that the DLC stones are products of Ange firing off in the Hyperspace timeline and creatign a 3rd (or fourth if you count ORAS) wave of new megas, which were then brough back by Hoopa
  5. The distortions would being in thsoe mons from Hyperspace, causing a risk simailr to the Ultra Beasts in Gen 7 and the Paradox mons in Scarlet/Violet, and ensuring that the rest of the casts gets involes as their operatiosn and lives are disrupted by the sudden apperance of mons outside the wild zone.
    1. This might also mean the rouge mega evolution battles might not be in Hyperspace like it would be assumed. Thought they might still be privy to the level cap breaking mechanic.
  6. Hoopa Unbound would be the final boss, having been driven mad by the life energy in Hyperspace as the player pacified the rouge megas and tried to reach Prism Tower. A simialr boss fight to Hyperrouge Ange Fleotte ensued. The fight will be prefixed with the threat of the two relaities merging together, bringing with it a Lumisose that is overran with dangerous and uncontainable pokemon and rendered nigh inhospitable for the human residents.
  7. Oh and Ange and Prism Tower is still active in Hyperspace.

Nothing to say on what mons would return.

I'm really excited for levels topping out over 100, especially as it seems to be on a timer? It feels like its gonna be a souped up version of the Royale/Rogue ME boss rush from the ending of the game so I'm kind of looking forward to that.

Also hoping that some of the characters from base game make more appearances. It already appears that Corbeau has a part in it and possibly Canari? (Please more Jacinthe pleaaaaase.) If they're bringing back any more characters from XY I feel Clemont should probably have a role, but I'm not really expecting anyone else ngl.

MMM I hope there are more hairstyles/clothing options from this DLC. I got really into dressing up my character lmaoooo

Based on Korrina being a major character in this dlc (and with how she's teased in the z-a postgame) I wonder if they'll follow up on some of the other things they reference that don't have a base game payoff?

Main one to me is Emma using the Essentia suit, just because it felt wierd that she'd explicitly mention it and mention only using it "when necessary" yet we never see her do so. Considering she was in the trailer, I feel like we may end up seeing her properly use the suit :wynaut:

Could someone remind me what the Essentia suit did again (its been a bit sincei played X and Y)? I seem to recall that it made her better at Pokémon battles, but since she's a more experienced trainer now she might need it less.

tldr superhuman strength speed and also the ability to steal pokeballs

Adding on to this but knowing that at the very least a large chunk of game freaks team are kamen rider fans (Lokix's design, Bug beating Dark, etc) I wonder if/hope that they give her at least one animation resembling a rider henshin

There's really only one thing I care about: Mega Golurk. Seriously, I wanna see what my baby looks like. Don't break my heart, GF!

I also hope we can shiny hunt and we encounter an Alpha Golurk. For reasons.

Okay, even though there’s no indication of it happening I want to at least throw it out there given what we know: what if the reason Hyperspace Lumiose looks like a grayscale void version of the city is because we get to change the whole dimension’s climate with the right donuts in addition to adjusting levels? Perhaps we can make the whole dimension match the different Wild Zone biomes as a “What if a Wild Zone spread across the entire city?” scenario.
