Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising expansion for the Pokémon TCG announced for release on May 22nd

The next Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion in the Mega Evolution Series has been officially announced in a press release by The Pokémon Company International. Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising will release internationally from May 22nd. The set will primarily contain cards from the Japanese Ninja Spinner expansion, which releases there this Friday March 13th.

Chaos Rising is the third expsionan to be based on the video game Pokémon Legends: Z-A, after Ascended Heroes and Perfect Order. Mega Greninja ex features as the central Pokémon of the set's artwork, while connecting in also to Pokémon Legends: Z-A's storyline around Mega Floette ex. They are accompanied by additional cards themed around the game, including other newly introduced Mega Evolution Pokémon such as Mega Pyroar ex, and Mega Dragalge ex.

Players and collectors can expect the set to include the following:
  • A total of over 120 new cards
  • 5 Mega Pokémon ex
  • 5 Pokémon ex
  • More than 20 Trainer cards
  • 35 full art cards, including:
    • 11 illustration rate Pokémon
    • 18 ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Trainer, and Energy cards
    • 6 special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
Physical pre-release tournaments for this set will begin from May 9th at participating locations worldwide. As usual, Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising will also be available for players of the Pokémon TCG Live app one day ahead of the physical release, on May 21st.

Mega Evolution—Chaos Rising will be available across the typical variety of formats, including a variety of collections. This set's Elite Trainer Box features a light grey Mega Greninja on a watery background of blues and purples, and should include nine boosters together with the usual assortment of energy cards, card sleeves, and other gameplay accessories, as well as an illustration-rare style promo card. A Pokémon Center edition of this Elite Trainer Box will also be available, which includes all the contents of the regular Elite Trainer Box plus two additional booster packs, and an additional illustration-rare style promo card with a Pokémon Center logo.
