I loved mega evolutions, but I was disappointed to see it scrapped. It made Pokémon that are often overlooked to be more used (Venusaur, Charizard, Slowbro, Pinsir, Gardevoir, Sableye, Mawile, Medicham, Manectric, Lopunny), but at the same time it was given to Pokémon that were already good (Scizor, Tyranitar, Metagross, Garchomp), and in some cases it made some Pokémon to be broken (Gengar, Kangaskhan, Blaziken, Salamence, Lucario). I honestly think if Gamefreak took more care, and gave it to more weaker mons like they did with beedrill it would've been better recieved.

Your words pretty much match my views on this subject. It's a great addition to the franchise, but it could have seen better distribution/balance in the long run. Right now, it just seems like Game Freak is throwing out new marketing gimmicks for each generation, and I'd rather they improve what they have now whether it be Mega Evolution or Z-Moves. Personally, I think it would be better from a marketing standpoint to go back to Mega Evolution.

As much as I like Megas in Gen VII, I would like it better if they improved, but they won't, because when Gen VIII get here, it's likely we're going to get another gimmick, and Z-moves, and Megas will be a post-game material.

Good idea. Rushed execution. Professor Sycamore sends you out to learn about the mystery of Mega Evolution, but the mystery is solved by finding the Lucario tower area and the people there basically saying, "Oh, you don't know what this is? That's weird. It's really simple and everyone knows about it." It was "scarce" in Gen VI, but not really. So much of Gen VI felt like that. Cool concept haphazardly mentioned and then resolved 3 badges later.

I also really dislike them being stuck to all the Japan based region Pokemon except Audino, who admittedly could be a hint to a future game considering that is the only thing Looker does in ORAS. I remember reading Masuda saying to make Gen VII as different as possible, so I'm reserving judgement about their ultimate fate.

One thing I really wish happened with Mega Evolutions: for Pokemon that are already powerful, give them a transformation instead of a power-up. Make Mega Evolution purely about type change, ability change, and redistribution of stats without raising them, and Mega Evolution could be given to popular Pokemon without creating a power creep. (And become more of a strategic move, too)

Game Freak just LOVES to create gimmicks and then throw them away with the excuse "We want players to want to play older games too!" (despite the fact that technically once they shut off the internet access for the systems said games run on they tend to lose a chunk of replay-ability in some cases... imagine how even MORE crappy Festival Plaza will be when it's a ghost town populated by generic characters and you have to rely on one player game runs to get festival coins in any large amount).

When they don't remove them completely they become the weird, old features that exist but don't get expanded upon or gets barely used at all. Kind of like how the data for apricorn balls are in every game since their debut but except for the one time handouts they refuse to bring back apricorns in any shape or form OR JUST SELLING THEM AT A POKEMART SPECIALIZING IN POKEBALLS.

*clears throat* Anyway.. yeah. I thought mega evolution was a neat concept that should have been expanded to more pokemon. If we ever DO get to see more, I hope that none of them are like Mega Slowbro. As hilarious as it was at first... it stopped being funny quick. Like an April Fools joke that you realize is actually not a joke and isn't really that funny out of that context.

Mega Evolution was pretty awesome, and all the lore that was created/being created to go with it was pretty awesome. Even the Ash-Greninja concept, which seems like an offshoot of Mega Evolution would have been a fun concept to further explore.

Z-Moves are cool and all.... (I still wouldn't want to be under Mimikyu's skirt when it does it's Z-move), but get old fast.

I have mixed feelings on them. I think they are a good concept, although i wish to exagerate its semi bad for pokemon they get like -1/16th hp when you do it.
Its a good idea, though alot of the designs are just plain bad. If they had better designs and were available for more pokemon i would like them more

some Pokémon to be broken (Gengar, Kangaskhan, Blaziken, Salamence, Lucario)

not broken... some pokemon are better and not so good in some things... for everything there is a counter.
Maybe we will get new pokemon that will take them even on without being megas, legendary or pseudolegendary?

Shedinja is good against 2 of them atleast in some scenarios.
Aegislash was created for a reason.
Wishiwashi with schooling.

If we ever get new pokemons with new abilities that :

- are immune to the damage dealing moves that are boosted with power by the "abilities" of those mega pokemon

(similar like Buletproof; would make mega Lucario , mega Kangaskhan and mega Salamance would get a major problem in using their moves, especially Lucario and Kangaskhan that have abilities that boost most of their moves )

- a pokemon immune to the oponents moves that get type based stab(when the oponent is fire/fighting type and uses fire and fighting moves it will get blocked)

- a pokemon immune to special damage dealing moves (would need better stats then shedinja)

-a pokemon immune to physical damage dealing moves (would need better stats then shedinja)

(with right stats, movesets, type combos )

this pokemon wouldn't need to be megas or legendaries and would be good counters to them.

I think that mega evolution was made to make equal chances out with legendaries , but maybe they will try to modify that concept in next generations with other pokemon that maybe are notso popular, weak and more forgotten.

I would love to see more final stage starters with right abilities and type combos.

I think Mega Evolutions were such an exciting concept! I remember back in the super early days of SM speculation that most people thought megas would be brought back in some form... and while they were half-correct (megas are back, that is), most people just generally expected new ones, only to have hopes and dreams unfortunately shot down. u.u I was one of those people; I think mega evos as an idea/concept died way too soon. Megas could've easily lasted a couple more generations before getting tiring, imo.

It's also a shame because there are so many more Pokemon that could've benefitted from a Mega that will probably never see the light of day due to not getting that opportunity.
