Mega Gyarados announced as the next Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE — The Atrocious Pokémon arrives on Aeos Island next week

The next Mega Evolution Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE has been revealed: Mega Gyarados will be available in-game from next week (Thursday, December 4th). It will be a separate license than Gyarados's regular unite license, which was added to the game on January 25th, 2024.

Pokémon capable of Mega Evolution first debuted in Pokémon UNITE with the addition of Mewtwo capable of Mega Evolving into Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y on July 21st and August 17th, 2023. In September of this year, it was announced that Mega Evolution Pokémon would now be considered separate licenses to the regular forms, allowing both the regular Pokémon and Mega Evolved Pokémon to be used on the same team. These now have their Mega Stone set as a held item, and are limited to only one moveset. These Pokémon undergo Mega Evolution for a short time after using their Unite Move.
In September, it was also announced that four Mega Evolution Pokémon would be joining the fray by the end of this year, with Mega Lucario debuting on September 28th, and Mega Charizard X on October 24th. Mega Gyarados will be the third, while the fourth Pokémon has not been announced yet.
