Mega Lucario joins the fray in Pokémon UNITE — Obtain its Unite License by completing event missions

Mega Lucario is the latest Pokémon to join the fray in Pokémon UNITE. Mega Lucario is separate Unite License from Lucario's regular Unite License. It is a Melee All-Rounder with Expert difficulty that deals Physical damage. It can Mega Evolve for a short while after using its Unite Move Aura Cannon.

To celebrate the introduction of Mega Evolution Unite licenses, Pokémon UNITE will hold a special event from Sunday, September 28th, Thursday, October 23rd, in which players can complete designated missions to earn the Unite license for Mega Lucario. After the event, Mega Lucario’s Unite license will be available at the Unite Battle Committee shop in exchange for either Aeos coins or Aeos gems.

Mega Lucario is the first of four Mega Evolution Pokémon joining the fray this year, with Mega Charizard X debuting on October 24th and two more Mega Evolved Pokémon debuting by the end of the year. The licenses for these Pokémon will be treated distinctly from regular Unite licenses, allowing two players on the same team will be able to select both Lucario and Mega Lucario, and so on. Mega Evolution Unite license Pokémon will also be limited to a single fixed moveset, and be limited to two held item slots, with one occupied by the appropriate Mega Stone. Holowear owned by the standard Unite license will be shared with the Mega Evolution Unite license; however, Pokémon will not wear Holowear after Mega Evolving in battle.

Mega Lucario Moves Overview​

Mega Lucario starts off as Lucario, and can Mega Evolve for a short time after using its Unite Move. As Lucario, it has the ability Justified, which increases its Attack on being damaged by an opponent. As Mega Lucario, its ability is Adaptability, which increases its Attack each time ato move hits opposing Pokémon.

Mega Lucario's first move slot consists of Quick Attack, which can upgrade into Power-Up Punch. Quick Attack has the user lunge forward at a speed that makes it almost invisible, dealing damage to opposing Pokémon it comes in contact with. Power-Up Punch makes the user charge power before unleashing a powerful attack. While the user is charging power, its movement speed is decreased but its Attack slowly increases and the damage it receives is reduced. The user then charges in the designated direction and releases this move, dealing more damage the lower the opposing Pokémon's remaining HP is. When the user Mega Evolves, it can charge power for a longer duration, deals increased damage to opposing Pokémon, and shoves them.

Mega Lucario's second move slot consists of Meteor Mash, which can upgrade into Close Combat. Meteor Mash deals damage to opponents by blasting forward with a punch like a comet, and shoves them. Close Combat unleashes a combo attack, dealing multiple blows to opposing Pokémon. When this move hits, it restores a certain amount of the user's HP. When the user Mega Evolves, it can deal more consecutive blows and change direction when attacking.

Mega Lucario's Unite Move is Aura Cannon, which has the "Ranged" effect. The user deals damage to opponents in the area of effect. After using this Unite Move, the user Mega Evolves.
