Mega Pokemon?

I'm sure many of you have heard of this by now. The real question is if and how they'll be in the Show and when.

Will they appear on special occasions? Used infrequently? Surprisingly often? Not at all? In Movies & Specials?

Wow! Megas are SOO exciting!!!! What if fan favourite Pokemon like Charizard and Mewtwo get yet another mega? Ground breaking theory huh?
Also, why don't we give as a Mega Kalos Pokemon? Greninja for instance? It'll probably have a giant Shuriken on its back...

You'll be happy to know then that mega evolutions have been featured quite heavily in the XY series - unfortunately, now that the anime is currently airing the Sun and Moon series - adapted from the games which have less of a focus on mega evolutions and more on the new feature of these games, Z-Moves - the current anime is not your best bet for what you would like.

I would recommend the Strongest Mega Evolution special. These were a series of specials that began airing in 2014, and there are four acts which revolve around a different protagonist, called Alain and his quest to research and defeat every known Mega Evolved Pokemon - so you will have a lot of showcasing of the various mega evolutions. Now, these specials bleed directly into the main series, so in order to follow the conclusion, it would be a good idea to be watching XY, particularly XY&Z at the same time. Act IV directly ties into XY094, so you can continue to follow Alain's story - alongside the main storyline of XY - from that episode onwards.

However, considering that mega evolutions have actually appeared in the series, I feel your questions have been essentially answered and there's not much room anymore to keep this as speculation thread. If you wish to discuss future appearances of Mega Evolutions in SM, please create a new thread (providing one hasn't already been made).
