Despite it's crits, I always found Megaman Battle Network to be a fun little series I looked foward to each year (as a new game came out), and bare numbero 4, I spent alot of time on them.

Naturally, I got Star Force which is in the same vein as BN, and I find it pretty fun.

So, anyone else got it? Sketch, I know you're a fan! Actually, you started a Star Force site since the updater goes by Sketch, amirite?

And btw, Toonami Jetstream has the Anime to up, which is cool. :)

EDIT: I got Dragon Version, btw. Grass Element ftw, and a Gamestop exclusive (who knew!)

Wait...they dubbed MegaMan Star Force? Or are you talking about the old NT Warrior dub? (I miss that show...)

I'm a MAJOR Mega Man fan, and I look forward to this game.

Yeah, they dubbed it. It's done by the people who did NT Warrior, so many of the voices are from Naruto, Ben Ten, Zatch Bell, ect.

And unlike the NT Warrior dub, it doesn't look screwed over (seriously, they aired everything out of order, cut out tons of stuff, had some dumb edits, and even changed names from the American game...no wonder so many people thought it was like made by 4kids...;P

So basically, most English kids missed out on Stream, Beast, and Beast+, or am I unaware of some secret Toonami Jetstream dubbing of those?

They seriously need to redub that show though...

*prays Teletoon will pick up Star Force*

Bleck, I despise Star Force. MegaMan.EXE brought Mega Man to me, someone who had no interest in other Mega Man games. It was a spectacular series, and I really wish it continued in earnest...but it's not. Star Force looks like a cash-in on BN's good reputation with fans, and a poor one at that.

Don't get me wrong, it's not as though new EXE games weren't intended to make money, but at least they offered an amusing battle system, interesting characters and originality. I can't see one good reason to buy any of the three games. Meh...

I really enjoyed RockMan.EXE. I was a Rockman-fan ever since the NES-days and the new look of things, like remade robot masters as netnavis or the whole feel of netbattles world was a very nice change. I really enjoyed the first 3 BN games and their storyline, but after renting 4...I couldn´t be bothered with the series anymore. The new powers were nice and cool, but the storyline as lacking SO MUCH fun and entertainment...I couldn´t stand it anymore and never played a Rockman.EXE game after it.

The anime became a super-sentai shitfest after the ending of Access (which was my favourite season) and I stopped watching it as well...

the problem I have with StarFoce...well...it isn´t Rockman anymore. It uses the game mechanics of the Netbattle series and turns the battlefield into 3D, but that´s all, isn´t it?
The mainenemies have nothing to of with any of the old Rockman (X,Zero,Legends,ZX etc.) characters and the new "Rockman" isn´t even a Rockman, but a blue-wolf-like thing. Netto and Rockman don´t cameo I heard, is that true? And the side-characters look like clones of the old crew...really sad to me.

maybe I´m wrong, but it looks like capcom took the name and the battle machanics and made a game which isn´t a rockman game and...called it one.

what´s next? make a "Streetfighter-Megafight" without any of the old streetfighter, but characters that looks like them?

the gameplay might be fun, I admit, but it feels like a betrayal of Rockman...^^;

My main criticism of Star Force (and really of this particular Mega Man "universe" as a whole) is that it comes off as a really poor attempt to mix the style of Mega Man with post-90s toyetic "hobby/tournament" anime. I mean, I thought the Battle Network concept was cool up until about the first sequel, but once the versions started coming out and I watched a few episodes of the anime, I damn near gave up all hope for it.

Maybe it's because I grew up with the original series, but I just can't really wrap my head around Mega Man being an alien who goes around on radio waves fighting viruses and befriending some run-of-the-mill student without a father. It just doesn't click with me. And the fact that the series has gotten this far is really a testament to just how much people will eat up this crap. Bah.

I'm caught, buku!

It's not my site, it's my friend's. I'm just staff. :p

I have Japanese Pegasus and English Leo. I'm level 99 in Pegasus and 59 on Leo. I just finished up getting the last SP card from Crown Thunder last night. Now I need to get the rest of the Standard Cards so I can get to Leo Kingdom at the end of the Secret Area.

I grew up with the Classic Series and I find nothing wrong with Ryuusei.

Rockman has been a robot, an 3D explorer, a computer program, and a Live Metal. You can't take him being an alien?

We're (At another Rockman site I'm staff at, Rockman.exe Online) are very pleased with the dub. The script is almost word for word, the voices are excellent, and the freaking swords aren't blurred. The only thing that's bad is the Opening. Sure, it's the same as the Japanese version, but the song is terrible.

Well, the X from Rockman X and ZX/advent are the same ones. I like how Classic,X,Zero and ZX are linked together in one universe.

StarForce just doesn´t have anything Rockman-ish besides the maincharacter. They could have used X´s mavericks as concepts for the bosses for example.
I loved the BN series, but SF is too far away from being a Rockman game for me.

( I´ve never played Legends, as I´ve never owned a PSX/2/3 I can´t judge it)

I do agree the tons of Cross Fusion during Stream became annoying...I never saw much of the Anime as I didn't have a fast computer at the time to watch the RAWS, and the dub was so messed up and at bad time-slots (3:00 in the afternoon?) I fell out.

But I stuck to the games. 4 and 5 were kinda...ick, but you should get 6 Teddi. It's a nice ending and uses the system of the first three but mixes in the new forms from 4 and 5.

I think Star Force is enough Megaman as Zero, ZX, or Ledgends was. Most of the EM-Wave Virus' are based off baddies from the older games, and many of the FM-ians can easily pass as Maverick-like creatures. And the battle mechanics is pretty much BN with a rather decent 3-D view.

I mean, I thought the main crit of Megaman was how much the game relies on the old formula, not because it changes it. 0.o

Well, the bosses in Star Force are animal based. Originally I was only a casual megaman fan where I'd occasionally watch the show (the old cheesey megaman one) and buy the games, however EXE made me a big fan!

I love how it's different from most RPGs, and I think the card game elements is the only way they could continue the fast paced style of megaman and keep it an rpg. I just got star force the other day (pegasus) and I pretty much love it. It's a little different from battle network, and I'm still trying to understand the logic (Are the other EMs earth creatures, are they man made Navis, or are they more aliens that came to earth a lot earlier).

I still am getting use to the battle system, it's neat but it seems to ruin some competitive play. I just need to play it more, but it seems too easy to give you anytime step powers and instant shields. I think I just need to get later in the game (only just beat the first boss)

However! We should all try to be Brothers! (Well.. I want to at least get to level 30 first)

That system seems pretty neat, even if I don't entirely get what it means. Can you explain it Sketch? I just got Sonia as mine the other day, but I'm not sure how you get others and what you can do with Brothers who are other players.

I'm glad to hear SF 2 will have Wifi Battles, something that I was upset that this skipped out on.

However, one rule in my Brother Band prevails...Bros before Hos.

Brothers you say? I do have three slots let from Misora, Luna, and Gonta...

I heard you can get more...but I don't know what it does exactly.

You're limited to a max of 6.

While playing the story, you can only have three. Since Misora, Luna, and Gonta are story driven Brothers. When you beat the game you an remove them.

So, what do Brothers do? I know you can use Favorite Chips they have, anything else?

Brothers increase your HP, give your Buster stat increases, and of course, let you use their 6 favorite cards. There's more to a real life brother than a Wifi one.

I agree with the Maverick-based thing...but Zero and Colonel were in EXE, which would mean the timeline was destroyed back then...

But even if it isn't like other Mega Man games, it is still fun to play.

By the way, does the dub keep all of the original music (besides the opening)?

ZERO RULES!!! they never should have ended the mega man zero series. the games where hard. the bosses where cool. and there was a ton of crap to collect! truely they where amoung the great platformers! i would say they rival mario...
