I been a fan of the the series from Gen 1. With these recent developments i am beginning to lose intrest in the whole franchise now. the only one i still play would be Black 2, Leaf Green, and Heart Gold.

1. Gamefreak is getting weirder with their pokemon designs.
2. Introduction of Mega evolutions. (ripoff of Digimon.)

These two things are causing me to lose intrest i the franchise. In my opinion, Pokémon was perfect without the Megas, and Gamefreak needs to make their Designs make more sense.

I am sorry about how i feel about this. If you hate me because of this post, then hate me.

I don't think anyone will hate you for your opinion. I personally disagree but don't hate you at all. xD Here's why I disagree:
1-I'm not sure what you mean by weirder Pokemon designs. Every gen has had weird designs (ex: Voltorb, Girafarig, etc.), but that's what makes a Pokemon: a weird and interesting design. Can you give some examples?
2-While megas aren't 100% necessary, I can see why they were added. For one, GF has to keep adding new mechanics to keep the games relevant. Gen 2 had the separation of the Special stat and introduced shinies, Gen 3 introduced abilities and forme changes, Gen 4 introduced the physical/special split, Gen 5 introduced hidden abilities and Gen 6 introduced Mega Evolutions. While you could just substitute most of the megas for normal evolutions, the fact that they're temporary and require a specific item to activate (save for M-Rayquaza) gives it a handicap that it wouldn't have if it were a normal evolution and thus allows for more powerful stats, abilities and typing while still keeping things pretty balanced. It also solves the problem that came with introducing Eviolite in that a Mega Evolution doesn't make Eviolite work for the Pokemon's base form, preventing certain Pokemon pre-evolutions from getting out of hand and being significantly better than their evolutions (like Dusclops and Chansey, partially). In my opinion, Mega Evolution solves many more problems than it creates and is certainly a worthwhile addition.

Definitely haven't heard this before.

I think the designs are improving and that mega evolution was an amazing addition. Not the kind of improvements I think the series needs most but improvements nonetheless.

I guess the designs are getting weirder, sure, but isn't that a good thing? It's like people want Pokemon to be "copypasta animal here, add spike, done". I admit there can be a charm to simplicity but Generation I seemed kinda overly simple. Like, shit, look at Seel, prime example of this. Hate on Garbodor all you want, at least it took more than 6 seconds to design. Don't hate on certain other Generation V Pokemon tho I'll bite you.

Ehh, this kind of discussion's been done to death already. Let's face it: everyone rips off of everyone else. Everybody is unoriginal. All Pokemon designs are total crap.

There. With that out of the way, you know what really doesn't make sense? A bipedal lizard that has a flame on its tail at all times. You know what also doesn't make sense? That lizard can transform into a dragon more than five times its size and has wings. Know something else? A small, cute, fox-puppy thing can transform into a dog-fish if you give it a blue stone.

Say it with me: Pokemon aren't supposed to make much sense. Of course things are gonna be weird. If you don't like that, I suggest you go and interact with some real-life animals.

See now, I like the weird designs. The weirder it looks, the more I like it. Sure, we have cute cats and seals but something like Babaracle really stands out and gets noticed. Yes, some of them are ugly but I like them that way.

As for Megas, I like them. I want more. And I will be very happy if GF finally gives me a Mega Golurk. (No matter where you are, you will hear my shrieks of joy.) XD

Weird designs are the least of the many problems that Mega Evolution brings to the Pokémon games.

Can you explain how the designs are getting weirder? The early generations still have their fair share of outright weird and bizarre designs, so I find it a little bit odd to complain about. I can agree that their style has changed over the years, if this is what you meant, but I don't see how that equates to weirdness since they still all look like monsters. Frankly each generation has their share of weird and cool and elegant and cute and whatever.

The Mega complaint is overdone at this point. Don't like them well just don't use them, but they aren't going to be removed so it's something you'll have to come to terms with if you want to play the future installments. Sorry if I sound blunt, but it's tiring to keep hearing.

I've been seeing the "these new pokaymons look too much like digemons" argument for years now. This has pretty much always been the case, compare Slowbro to Shellmon.

Yes, because it was Digimon that totally invented the concept of someone powering up to a stronger form and being able to revert to a basic form. Yes, because Power Rangers, Dragon Ball Z and others shows that came before totally didn't had the same concept, it was Digimon that invented it. /sarcasm

Also, i rather have weird designs that actualy look like someone put actual effort into instead of the overly simplistic Gen 1 mons. There's a difference between simplistic and yet effective, and something that looks like that was designed by a 5 year old.

What makes 'Mega Evolution' any different to any other form change?

What designs in particular don't make sense to you? Is Mr. Mime etc. not 'weird'? (personally I think it's a bit creepy)

i just needed to vent my disgust for the Franchise. though i wont render a verdict on Gen VI just yet till i play X and Y. i guess i am just too old school.

I believe that all evolutions of eevee need a mega because since the beginning people were amazed in gen1 when it had only 3 evolutions. these pokemon need to be relevant again and I think mega evolution is the perfect way to do that.

I like that Megas are like breedable legendaries. Legendary with 6 capped IVs? Hacked. Breed able with 6 capped stats? They also add a wildcard into the mix if your oponent has several possible Megas on their team.

i just needed to vent my disgust for the Franchise.

You're disgusted by the franchise because it isn't appealing solely to your tastes (designs becoming "weird" when really aren't any weirder than the earlier generations) and because it introduced a feature that is supposedly copying Digimon (when it isn't)?

2. Introduction of Mega evolutions. (ripoff of Digimon.)

Digi-what? Is that still even a thing? IMO if Megas are a ripoff of that dead horse then they'd have been introduced in Gold/Silver.

Yes it is, Digimon Adventure tri. is coming this spring for the 15th anniversary of the anime. :)

like i said. i am basically old school.

Yes, so old school for hating those newfangled mega designs. Anyway, Megas are supposed to be 'overdesigned' since they're a temporary 'unnatural' outburst of energy.
