It's an illustrated book documenting all 14 theatrical works - but that's not very interesting, so they added a bit of commentary, and a few fan-contributed sections too.

First, they had votes for various categories of scenes.

Best battle scenes:
1. Deoxys vs. Rayquaza (M8)
2. Mew vs. Mewtwo (M1)
3. Entei vs. Charizard (M3)
* Moltres vs. Zapdos vs. Articuno vs. Lugia (M2)
* Flygon vs. Salamence (M6)
* Pokémon vs. Clones (M1) [Oddly, they titled this ポケモンvsコピーポケモン instead of the one they used in the soundtrack, 本物対コピー]
* Molly's Pokémon vs. Misty's Pokémon (M3)
* Onix vs. Tyranitar (M4)
* Ariados & Espeon vs. Pikachu (M5)
* Unown vs. Entei (M3)
Featured battle scene: the new world of Pokémon Battles - the Battle Tower in M8

Most emotional scenes:
1. The parting of Jirachi and Max (M6)
2. The tears of the Pokémon (M1)
3. Latios ascending to the heavens (M5)
* Mewtwo leaving (M1)
* Celebi's revival (M4)
* Ash rescued [by Charizard] (M3)
* Reunion with friend [Deoxys 2] (M8)
* Wish comes true [Entei-shaped cloud in the sky] (M3)
* The parting with Celebi [and Sammy] (M4)
* Challenging the gigantic tsunami (M5)
Featured emotional scene: The joy of the party commemorating the first day we met (S3)

Most feel-good scenes:
1. You're the star! [When TR decides to help Ash] (M2)
2. Parting kiss (M5) [One fan comments, they'd rather not know exactly who it was.]
3. Wish coming true... (M6) [The sweets raining from the ceiling]
* ... I love you ... [Diane admitting love to Butler] (M6)
* Touching Mama (M3)
* Pokémon Water Race (M5)
* Jealousy...!? [Melody greeting Ash] (M2)
* Sketchbook [Sammy's drawing of Pikachu & Celebi] (M4)
* Melody's Flute [at the altar] (M2)
* Nice shot! [Gonbe [Munchlax] kicking the bottle into the bin] (M7)

Most worrying (?) scenes:
1. May's real wish [When she forgot to fold the 7th flap] (M6)
2. What happened after that? [Wobbuffet and Wynaut] (S5)
3. Ash's mother's feelings [Delia scolds Ash] (M2)
* Exotic festival (M2)
* Why am I here? [Mewtwo's ponderings at the beginning] (M1)
* Tō'i's [what's his name again?] bravery [Saving Plusle and Minun] (M7)
* Bishōnen [Sid, obviously] concerned for his sisters [When he tells Ash to leave the Shadow Deoxys to him] (M7)

After that, they have some summary information for the first 4 movies, then a few pages about lovely Pokémon. The first page, naturally, is about Pikachu, or rather, the mimicking Pikachu. Most of the shots come from S6, but there's also one from S2.

The next page is about "friends in the end" - Pichu brothers (S3), the gang of 4 in S1, Houndour (S3), Elekid (S2) and Larvitar (S4).

The page after that... "Everyone's idol!? Togepi" - and pictures of Togepi being spoilt.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the fan-voted most lovely Pokémon is Mew. (Not Pikachu?)

The fourth page is "Dance! Dance! Dance!" (S6).

The fifth page is split between "Cuteness doubled when there are many!" and "the hundred faces of Pikachu" (well, 15)

The next section is the ranking of all Pokémon, in various categories:
I want to be friends with them...:
* Pikachu
* Charizard

Slim and nice style:
* Lucario
* Blaziken
* Deoxys [pictured in attack mode]

Weird!? Interesting ones:
* Usohachi [Bonsly]
* Gonbe [Munchlax]
* Psyduck
* Loudred
* Corphish
* Meowth [the Meowth]

Cool looks:
* Absol
* Mightyena
* Houndoor

Big is good!:
* Onix
* Rayquaza

How smartly dressed!:
* Latias
* Skitty
* Masquerain

Entirely fitting:
* Walrein
* Makuhita

Always together:
* Dugtrio
* Exeggcute [really, do these two have any competition?]

Gorgeous, beautiful Pokémon:
* Beautifly
* Milotic

Charming in a mysterious way:
* Celebi
* Entei
* Ninetails

After that section are a few interviews with the movie 8 cast, and then a bit of design for the characters, places, food and a few other things. One of the toy carts has a Celebi design on it. Need we go legendary hunting again, a la M5? Also, apparently, Pikachu's leaf bed is made of fuji (wisteria) leaves.

Next section are some movie 8 keywords. Mr. Bank's title, apparently, is 執事長, or head steward/butler.

Following that are various quizzes.

One interesting bit of information in the second part of movie summaries is that Annie and Oakley [or at least, Zannā and Rion] are not merely a pair, but sisters - Zannā is elder.

If you feel like buying this book, it is ISBN 4091062326, price is ¥1143 without tax, formal title: ワンダーライフスペシャル 劇場版 ポケットモンスター 1998 - 2005. Publisher is of course 小学館 Shōgakukan.

For those who prefer the "This is Animation" series - it was released July 30th - today.

I believe that was known already.

And I think you have Sid and Rafe confused. Sid's cool and all, but he wouldn't be called a bishounen.

My. What a happily scary thought you just put into my head, BG.

I've got to lay down now...

I would say the most emotional was Butterfree and Ash parting in season 1. Cuase that was his first pokemon...

Always together? What about Dodrio?

And I agree with MistyIRC's comment about 'Heroes.' I haven't cried like that since Bambi's mother got killed.

No scanner for me, unfortunately. Maybe BJG might be able to get the book.

Yes, of course it was Ryū. [Has not watched M7 in dub]

That was in the TV anime, so it wouldn't have made the book...

The parting scene with Jirachi made me burst into the tears, I loved the song and the TR thing at the end made me feel good!

Yeah, but it'll take a while, probably a few weeks. 1143 Yen is about 10.50$, right? Or thereabouts?
More or less. I'm not sure how much the surcharge is like at your Kinokuniya... I get something like a 10% increase for Japanese books.
