My memory's gotten worse and worse lately. I forget people's names or how I met them, I confuse Friend A for Friend B online, and I can't remember simple things like "do the dishes" or whatever.

Is that something I should be concerned about? And what can I do to improve? I mean, I'm not even 28 yet!

I think there was some food that had come nutrient that improved memory, but I forgot what it was. A carrot, maybe?

I think, that if you are serious about having such a bad memory, you should go see a doctor, instead of posting on a Pokemon forum and hoping someone has the answer.

Uhhuh, and what makes you think I haven't? I've been to a doctor and she said it "wasn't anything to worry about". But I don't believe her, since it's been getting worse over time.

So I was turning to a public forum that gets a lot of people to see if anyone knew what I should do.

So, your doctor gave you no advice? Some doctor.

I've heard of a few remedies such as using ginkgo and ginseng herbs to help improve memory abilities. Most doctors recommend those as supplements to your own diet and are often common additives in teas labeled such.

I've also heard increasing your physical activity can help stimulate the brain since what that would be doing is allowing more blood to flow and help stimulate the nerve centers.

Another method that comes from personal experience is practice and insane repetition. Obviously this won't work for everything, but after time if you find your short term failing, long term memory will kick in. It's the brain's 'second nature system' if you will.

Last resort, if something can't be remembered just write it down. I've been in a bad habit of never collecting notes and relying totally on my brain, when frankly, I just can't remember it all. I've felt similar as to what you describe yourself going through; forgetting once familiar names, finding myself sidetracked from what I was thinking of doing because I forgot. Writing notes down and keeping organized has helped this a bit. But I warn you, don't convince yourself that you're loosing memory, that will only make you less determined to gain a conscience bearing over your memory in the long run.

I'm not a medical professional, but I hope this advice from experience will do.

I often have a hard time remember what I need to do at school so on busy days or days when I need to ask a specific teacher about something I write out a schedule of how it will play out and when I will talk to that teacher etc.

I also think of just little things to also make me remember them more vividly. For example: if my mom calls me from work and tells me to do the dishes and I hear my dog park while I am talking to her, the next time my dog barks (Which is often; such a bad dog) I will remember I have to do the dishes soon.

Also, I think another solution may be to get more sleep. I've found that when I get little sleep, I find myself easily forgetting things, and staring in to space, lost in my own thoughts.
