Meowscarada aprecciation thread

An adorable little kitty cat. Also helps that Sprigatito is my favourite of the Paldea starters and up until I stopped watching after the main plot ended (though I will confess that the only episode I've seen afterwards was the Unite one) I had grown very attached to Sprigatito/Floragato/Meowscarada, always a spark of joy (even if the writing staff kept shoving her and Liko to the side).

The paldean starters are underappreciated as characters of the series. Yeah, they are secondaries and only get a fraction of the humans' screentime, but they evolved significantly as characters alongside their people. HZ139 showcases Meowscarada's growth, she has a big role and I highly recommend you watch it (though the final few minutes of HZ138 may be good to see for context too).

And she is so adorable when she's protective of Liko.
 
Liko and Meowscarada can endure together any hardship. They are inspiration for all us Trainers. Meowscarada is very good character, has deep strength and has learned much since being Sprigatito.

Fascinating way to put it lol,
considering the clearly both physical and (inter)subjective nature of the "bonds" between humans and Pokémon in this universe, I would unironically love to read some in universe metaphysical examination about them, and was kind of thinking about it a bit. Maybe we should make a thread for Pokémon philosophy.

How social rituals form between humans and Pokémon would be the subject of my Pokémon anthropology research, if I was in world lolololo. Interaction Ritual theories based on Collins would be a nice lens of examination probably

Well, since you've opened Pandora's Box...

I've always suspected that the Pokémon world treats evolution as something far more profound than a merely biological event. It seems to suggest that every being carries within itself a latent possibility, a truer expression of its own nature, which gradually discloses itself through experience, trust, and relationship. Evolution, then, is not simply the acquisition of greater strength, but the outward manifestation of an inward awakening. One does not become something else; one becomes more fully what one always had the potential to be.

The trainer-Pokémon bond is equally fascinating. It seems to resist every category through which we ordinarily understand human and non-human relations. It is neither ownership nor mere companionship, but a process of mutual becoming. Trainer and Pokémon do not simply travel together; each calls forth possibilities within the other that might otherwise have remained forever dormant. Their identities are not fixed, but continuously unfold through reciprocal recognition.

Even the Poké Ball acquires an unexpected metaphysical significance. It cannot simply symbolize possession, because the bond consistently rests upon freedom. Pokémon refuse trainers, leave of their own accord, or choose to remain outside their Balls altogether. The relationship endures not because one wills it unilaterally, but because both continually choose it. Freedom is therefore not opposed to belonging; it is the very condition that makes belonging meaningful.

Anthropologically, this is equally remarkable. Pokémon cannot be neatly classified as animals, persons, spirits, or deities. They occupy all of these roles and yet are reducible to none of them. The Pokémon world therefore invites us to imagine a broader conception of personhood, one in which consciousness, relationship, and the unfolding of one's inner nature matter more than biological taxonomy.

Perhaps that is the deepest metaphysical intuition of Pokémon: evolution is not merely biological but spiritual. It is the gradual revelation of an inner potential through lived experience and genuine relationship. The world is not populated by isolated beings striving for power, but by consciousnesses helping one another become more fully themselves.

...which is, of course, simply a more verbose way of saying:

Cat achieved transcendence
