Okay this is going to sound pretty absurd, but this is something I discovered a few years back, and it still bothers me to this day, so I made an account here hoping I'd get my question answered haha.

Anyway, a few years ago I was playing Pokemon Silver, and I was just wandering around the cave in front of the Pokemon League, and then my sister's boyfriend and I decided to mess around with Game Shark and put in a random code.

We did just that, and when I encountered a wild Pokemon in the cave, something weird popped up. There was this big blob of just... messyness (and this is not MissingNo. just to get that clear, or maybe it might be another variation of it, I don't know), its HP bar went from one end of the screen to the other so it cut through the "Pokemon's" sprite (which I could've sworn I saw a face in but the HP bar cut it off) and the name was just a bunch of question marks. When I encountered it, it was also already poisoned.

So when I tried to attack it, the message below said, "Waiting..."

And then I got scared I was gonna mess up my game and shut it off before anything else happened.

I don't remember the code I used since it was just random, I don't know much about Game Shark cause it was the first (and last) time I ever used it, and I think I was either using the Gameboy Pocket or the Gameboy Advanced.

So does anyone know what the heck this thing I found is? I'm sure it's a glitch but I want to know more about it, and I'm not savvy on tech stuff or Game Shark and whatnot, so if this is me just being stupid and this is something normal to occur when you mess around with Game Shark then I'D LIKE TO KNOW THAT TOO because this has been bothering me for years. >____<

Any help is appreciated ~~

The following glitched Pokémon can be found in the Gold/Silver versions, but require GameShark to complete them.

#000 0100EDD0 Five question marks (000)
#252 01FCEDD0 Five question marks (252)
#253 01FDEDD0 Glitch egg
#254 01FEEDD0 Five question marks (254)
#255 01FFEDD0 Five question marks (255)

The glitch I found isn't any of those. ):

Haha that's why I hate game sharks... I think you just messed up some of the coding and got that. It's not an actual "glitch pokemon," per se, just some random code that ended up producing that.

Hmm, okay. I guess my mystery's solved? D:

By the sounds of it, you generated a chopped together Link Battle with no opponent; this would explain the corrupted data of the Pokémon (since there wasn't one) and the "Waiting..." message.

Oh, I see. I've never had a linked battle before so, yeah... Thanks for telling me, I'm gonna just assume that this is the case with my whole messing around with Game Shark situation.

Yeah, somthin like that. With game shark you can make a 5 levil mew with so much health it cuts throuh the screen and into the sprite... you can generate the levil, health, other stats, ne pokemon (glitch or not) your mesing with the natural coding in the game so you created that pokemon and made it poisoned among other things you didn't get to see apon turning it off... its not a good idea to put in a random code. So you might of made a fake link battle or some other crazy thing that dosnt exist untill you mess with the games coding. You could of destroyed your game tho, good thing you turned it off. Did it work after?

Yeah, it worked just fine.

That's good, next time you use a game shark make sure you know what your doing and don't make random codes or you'll mess stuff up, and I wouldn't reccomend walk through walls. You can mess up your game doin that too

Why don't you try TR's Rockin? I read a very similar story of the GSC "Waiting" glitch. They also have a glitchdex with pictures of the two/three GSC glitches. Its always been the site I use for glitches. Especially for reference in my frequent arguments with Glitch-illiterate noobs on other forums I got to. They are convinced any glitch under the sun is called MissingNo. spelt Missingo, and thats its going to eat your game and turn into mews o_O (When only M block actually does any real harm to R/B)
