What you do is get six Pokemon that know Metronome and fight six Pokemon that know Metronome. Metronome is the only attack allowed to be used. If a Pokemon runs out of Metronome PP before fainting then switch to another Pokemon. If neither team faints completely then the winner is whichever team received the least amount of damage.

Has anyone ever had a Metronome battle? I used to do it all the time on Pokemon Stadium. The randomness of it was awesome.

Nope, it sounds funny though, being able to potentially use any move whatsoever.

Exactly. The thing that makes it hilarious is that you can use any move possible yet you can't choose which one you use. So there's no way to predict how the battle will go.

I can imagine the frustration element in it, using Dream Eater when your foe isnt even asleep. Classic stuff. What pokemon are available for rental that know Metronome? Are there 6 or more, for variety's sake? I'd hate to use six Clefables...

In Stadium? It's been awhile since I've played so I can't remember them all but I think I used Clefable and Chansey. I also think I used Ditto and had it transform into a Metronome user.

The Pokemon that know metronome either by level up or breeding are as follows:

Cleffa
Clefairy
Clefable
Mew
Togepi
Togetic
Togekiss
Munchlax
Happiny
Chansey
Blissey
Snubbull
Granbull

Anyway, it sounds pretty fun. :p It's kind of funny how all but one of those Pokemon is a normal type though, lol. Even Togetic/Togekiss are half normal. :p Mew is the only exception

Doesn't what a Pokemon can learn sometimes change when a new game comes out? If so, and those Pokemon listed can learn it in DP like I think then isn't it possible that others could have known it back in RBGY? Because that would be the same time as Stadium.

And I don't think I used Mew. It wasn't even available for rent or whatever on Stadium IIRC.

No, it wasn't up for rent in Stadium, but I always considered it a crime to use it in Stadium.

Actually, it was. You were allowed to use it in R-2 Prime Cup, including Free Battle. In Stadium 2, you were also allowed to use Celebi as well.

Huh, you learn something new everyday. How about in Multiplayer battles though?

What do you think Free Battle is? As long as you were playing with Prime Cup rules, you could use them.

My sister and I would have Metronome battles all the time. We'd laugh our brains out at Golem using Fly and other stuff like that.

Golem can't learn metronome...

I'm going to have a Metronome battle with my brother one of these days...

There's a Metronome Battle on a Battle Disk in Pokémon XD. It gives you Togepi and Cleffa against Geodude and Machop.

Though I've not tried it yet, I'm sure one can use any Pokemon that learned Metronome via FR/LG and Emerald's move tutors in DP. It's just a trade away...
