If you guys know me, you should have seen this one coming. ;P Mewtwo is my favourite pokémon of all time and I thought of starting a topic in Pokémon World about him. We all know he's cloned from Mew's fossil and that Mew is supposedly a feline-like pokémon. But...

...is he really a feline Pokémon? Does he have fur or scales? Is he carnivourus, herbivourus or omnivourus?

Another question question surfaces as I type this: if he's a Mew clone, why isn't he exactly looking like Mew? What sort of cloning methods were used to make him so powerful and apparently stronger than Mew?

Here's a few examples of how artists see a realistic looking Mewtwo:

Channy's Mewtwo and
Hibbary's Mewtwo

Ok, this is where I get confused, as there are two stories of Mewtwo's origin. In the game, it is born from a Mew, and I don't have the slightest clue as to how Mewtwo ended up different from Mew. In the anime, it was gene spliced from several pokemon in an effort to create the most powerful pokemon from Mew's DNA. I think Mewtwo has fur myself. It's body is a crazy amalgam, though. It has a more rigid version of Mew's head, with more prominent ear things. I have no idea where the longer arms with knobbly fingers came from, but it has a kangaroo-like body, and it keeps Mew's tail, only now it more proportionate to its body. It has that thing in the back of its head, which has been said to bring more nutrients to its head to support more powerful mental abilities. I would think it's omnivorous, but I don't really have anything to back me up on that.

I would say that Mewtwo has feline characteristics, but is not wholly feline in nature. It's clearly bipedal and probably is omnivorous. His body always looks smooth, so I picture his fur as being similar to a seal's.

What I occasionally wonder is how often Mewtwo eats. I was reading a novel which described a form of meditation called Chong-Ran (probably not the correct spelling) and I would assume that Mewtwo, having latent psychic powers, doesn't have to eat three square meals a day. Maybe he eats once a day, or once every two days, just enough to store energy until he needs to use it.

Simple, they made him like Frieza (from DBZ). :p

IMO Channy's Mewtwo looks nothing like Mewtwo

wasn't it in the game where they somehow got Mew pregnant, then messed with the embryo's genes? then when it came out it came out horribly wrong?

It seems that random people know about Mewtwo. Has Almond been to the Cinnibar Mansion when we weren't looking?

I'd love to know at what point in the Special and anime plots TR was brought into Mewtwo's origin.

In the game Mew gave birth to Mewtwo.

My thoughts on this I think are pretty simple.
Mew = Female
Mewtwo = Male

This explains the difference in appearance and movesets, seeing as it's seen in the pokemon world in the Nidoran species. Both have different appearances and different movesets.

Though Mewtwo cant use any TM in the same way Mew can. It's thought Mew can do this because it's DNA is what all pokemon originated from.

If Mewtwo had been experiemented on after it was born[even though it's not specified in the game, those scientists must have done something to it], it's possible it could have changed it's DNA in such a way that it was no longer compatible with every pokemon move.(I dont count every pokedex entry in this because they've proven to be misleading...that and they change with every version, it's hard to know what to follow and what not to follow)

Now as for the anime...Mewtwo was cloned. I however consider the game universe and anime universe very different.

I think Mewtwo is just a Mewtwo. I don't see how he's supposed to be a cat of any sort.

Amen to that.

Well,that and the fact that he kicks so much ass. >:)

I think I read a theory somewhere once that Mew was based off a kangaroo rat, and therefore Mewtwo was a kangaroo. I think this makes a lot more sense than the cat idea. However, since they named them Mew and Mewtwo I think there have definitely got to be some cat infulenes in there. In any case, they seem to be mammals, but I'm not sure that mewtwo would have fur.

Mew does look somewhat like a kangaroo rat, but only in terms of its hind legs and tail. In addition, Mewtwo also shares similarities with a kangaroo, mostly in his hind legs and a little in his face, but he clearly isn't supposed to be a kangaroo as shown by his lack of jumping to move. Mew's face, however, looks more like that of a cat than a kangaroo rat.

Doesn't Mewtwo have human genes in him? That's what I always thought- he's a cross between Mew and a human.
