Well as always I've been wondering whether this were actually possible or not. I'm one of those who think it's either probably not or if it is it would probably be ported bad. Also people say business wise it's a good decision to have it on the 360, I don't really see it being too different. This MGS4 we're talking it's not going to sell bad regardless of what system it's exclusive on. Well back to whether it's possible, MGS4 will use SIXAXIS as a control scheme for the game which we all know is geared towards the PS3's controller--in fact it would confirmed a total of 5 functionalities will use the SIXAXIS controller, that's a pretty big hefty number of functionalities it will use for the PS3's hardware only.
Well I don't know if Kojima has anything against a X360 version of the game. I wouldn't think he has anything against that per say. But I know he has something against ports that don't function quite the way they are supposed to. I remember him saying he was disappointed in the MGS2 port for Xbox, and I can understand how a perfectionist like Kojima doesn't like having his name put on a game that has lagging issues and other things.
If there is going to be a port of MGS4 I think he would want it to be ported properly. Like Capcom did with RE4 for PS2. But obviously the architecture differences between PS3 and X360 are much greater than between GC and PS2. If the port is done well, then I wouldn't think think he has anything against it. But since he is making it solely with PS3's hardware in mind at the moment, and even said that Blu-Ray (25 GB) isn't enough for MGS4, making it compatible for other consoles probably isn't on his mind at the moment.
Then there is the possibility that porting this game to the 360 could be butchered from the leading platform. I really don't want to see anything cut-out or compressed because of the 360 being slightly less powerful and the fact that it's disc capacity is limited to the DVD format, I want to see the fully demonstration and taking advantage of the hardware and disc capacity. Also I'm not sure, but if this were to be ported to the 360-- there could be a possibility of 2 to 3 discs and making more discs might be more expensive that just having 1 Blu-Ray disc have it all, though I'm not sure how accurate that is, but the logic I'm coming from is understandable.
Also understand MGS main install base is mostly carried in the hands of Sony's fanbase. So I don't think sale figures would be a significant problem if the game itself is only a PS3 exclusive.
