Why am I doing this...
Um, hello! I thought I'd try and make an art thread. Now, I don't know why I'm feeling the urge to do so, and I don't think I have anything of value to offer, but... I dunno, maybe showing my messy scribbles somewhere can help me overcome the struggle I've had with drawing for pretty much my entire life.

I'm very good at writing, but drawing has been a struggle for me for forever. I was diagnosed with dyspraxia as a kid, which meant fine motor skills were harder for me to learn than for others. On top of that, my family's got a history with art, so I had a lot to live up to... and my perfectionism and various complexes don't help. I'd try to draw pretty much every year, make one or two drawings, and then get overwhelmed/discouraged and stop until the next. We're in my 2026 attempt now, which so far has been going the same way lmao

Anyway, here's what little art I have to show that's recent enough to be relevant... The first is a finished piece made for a friend, and the other is very early work-in-progress ship art of a rarepair I like.

...So, yeah. Not exactly the most appealing stuff. I draw on my phone since I don't have a tablet with a screen, and using my drawing tablet on my PC is even harder for me than just drawing with my finger, screen crunch be damned.

In line with my struggling with art, don't expect frequent updates. Hell, if this thread doesn't update ever or vanishes overnight, don't be surprised; putting myself out there like this is taking a lot of courage, to be honest.

Also, I'm not looking for criticism. I appreciate anyone who would be willing to assist, but I have a hard enough time with myself being critical... thank you for understanding.

I think these are super cute! Heard on the anxiety of sharing stuff with people; I think it only really goes away with time ... Either way, I'm glad you did! I like the soft moon gradient you did on the first one + the OC design is super cool with the black/grey and softer pink/blue. The pose on the second one looks HARD and I think you did a good job of it. Hopefully we get to see the final piece when you're done!

thank you... the OC's design isn't mine though, it's the friend in question's sona lol. I agree it's super great though

I've been told that the posing on the second image is hard by a few people as well; I realize I'm not making it easy on myself but I'm pretty demanding and want to make the drawings I see in my head at least somewhat real, even if they end up much uglier on paper than in my imagination. I appreciate the kind words!

Made some more progress today... pretty much entirely on PAREO's hair, though I did recolor some things to be a closer match to what the final will end up looking like. still a placeholder though

Next up, I'll probably try to make LAYER look a bit more like herself... or actually get started on the outfits properly. We'll see.
